That was one of the few things I did when I drove at the Ring on GT5. Only replace the factory tyres with Comfort hards and I was good to go for an 8.30 lap. ;)

Does bring up another question though,

Why haven't I bought another Yellowbird and started doing this insanity lap again? 💡

Do it. You won't be sorry... 👍

Me to. Cars feel more different to each other when stock imo.

If i'm online, i only do stock car racing, all aids off (ABS also) Max DMG and penalty etc.
Races are way more competitive, exciting and challenging that way.
I'm a DS3 player (no room for steering wheel at the moment) but with steering wheel i think you notice the difference between stock cars even more.

Anyway, if someone is in for racing with stock cars online, all aids off etc. you can add me: Ryan_Mckane
Still searching for poeple who will race that way to...so guys...feel free!

Its always hard to find "stock" rooms but if anyone is interested I have a room up almost every evening,I leave ABS,TCS and ASM on for anyone wanting it.I never get a lot of traffic but occasionally it is fun with other people. My psn is the same as my GTP name,no capitols though.

i drove the RUF CTR2 today and it was awesome! I hated this car because of understeering in GT5 but in GT6 without ABS it's soo quick in corners :)

the CTR2 is the first car, which i'm faster without ABS - because the breaking without abs helps to steer (hard to descripe :D)

Ask and you shall receive.
Managed to slice 20 seconds off my GT5 personal best with this set up, most of it could be down to the physics engine but overall it's a much cleaner lap compared to my last time.
Oil change (only upgrade)
ABS 1,
TCS Off,
No SRF
BB 7F/9R and comfort hards. :scared:

Way to go! Comfort hards? Good stuff! How do you like the car?

Yep, comfort hards. It's definitely a blast on any tyre choice.

it'll go nicely with 'FlatBird', :mischievous: a fully built speed version I made awhile back. Finished in Nero Nemises matte paint and almost 800hp. That car I race and drift almost anywhere. ;)

I'm a little bit of a purist in GT6. I was the same in GT5 with majority of cars. The most I do is put sport softs on a street car and nothing else, unless they had to be tuned for an online competition I'd keep them bone stock. There's so much talk in GTPlanet and the GT6 community about how some say car handling is bad, that they need ballast to get a car to handle well or suspension tweaks...

How many of you are the opposite of that standpoint, like me? Just buy a car from the dealership, leave it stock except for maybe a paint change, then you pick your track and just drive the wheels off the thing?

GTPlanet - how many of you members are the same? How many of you are the GT6 Driving Purists?
I haven't tuned any car yet and doubt I ever will. I tend to put comfort tires on every street car because I feel sport tires give way, way too much grip. ABS=0 and mismatching tires front and rear to tame some of the sketchier cars.

The RUF Yellowbird with CM/CS tires is my current favorite to drive. I just love the motor in that car.

Imho, if you don't drive the car stock at least for a lap you won't have a direction to tune, getting the tunes ready is a big no-no to me. I know some people don't know how or have the patience to dial a car in, but to me its a big part of the fun.

After such lap, i usually make 2-3 alterations. The bad part is that online a host cannot enforce a setup for everybody but imo it would be a cool thing. I match suspension setups to the real oem specs, lsd(sometimes) , and tires, especially nowadays with multi-compund, diferent thread patterns and hardness of tires on cars with bigger tires on the rear, fr/mr cars.
Lotus evora and nsx become real fun with oem tuning and harder compound in front.
Also gtr has grippier tires than most track day rubbers, if it wasn't 20inch i would definetively buy a set of those for my cars.

When I tune these days I get this huge pang of guilt, like I've failed at rising to the actual challenge the car represents in its "stock" form, having to tweak its behaviour is like changing the rules of a game because you can't play the game.

Of course, if you decide the challenge is to make the car go as fast as it possibly can within the remit of GT's tuning options, that's different. I don't think it matters that the aids and ABS are not "realistic", but I've definitely noticed that GT6 is more lively and communicative with everything off - that's more fun, in my opinion, even if I'm slower as a result.

The fact that driving is only done on tracks in the game is also moot, since that is supposed to change in the near future. That's what I'm looking forward to the most, then it really will just be about driving.

That's the EXACT way I drive, too! Few things are better than slapping some sports soft tires on a stock Nissan 370Z and taking it for a spin around Silverstone! :D

It's very hard to find stock lobbies or one-make lobbies but if there was some sort of organised club that ran one-make races on a regular basis then I'd consider joining. I don't like tuning cars for racing, it usually ends out quite badly so the most tuning I ever do to cars is usually a little power boost or stiffer suspension.

I want a club based around this, too!

For the poeple that wants to race with stock and no aids:

I am starting up a little club on facebook.
It's only for those that want to race stock with no aids (Yes, also no ABS)
Also it is with max damage and penalty.
I am searching for members, however, they are hard to find.

My goal is to have about 10 to 20 members for regular fun racing in the evening and eventually i will schedule endurances races or trackdays.
This can be done by members that have an option for voting for PP,Track,Car,Laps,Circuit etc.

I don't know if it's legal, if not, delete my link.

For those who's interested, just like the page and leave your PSN behind so others can add you.
Club rules are described on page.

Stock here too. I also prefer comfort tires too, but some higher performance cars don't seem to like them.

I wish there was an option to set tires and fuel to whatever setting you like instead of it defaulting to new tires and a full fuel load every time you start a race/run. You don't necessarily buy a new set of tires every time you hit the road in real life, so why should we in the game? This way we can test the car in varying degrees of fuel loads and tire degredations without having to run an extended race to see how the car handles in different circumstances. I suppose you could set the tire and tires use to 'fast' but it doesn't seem realistic.

Still ring lapping cars in GT5 with Sports Hard tyres on them, just figured out the Enzo Ferrari and managed a 7:11. Improved my McLaren F1 lap by 2 seconds and managed a sub 7 in the Bugatti Veyron. Can't wait to ring lap them in GT6.

Hi guys,

I also like to drive my cars stock except some changes in wheels and colours. I oftenly open a room for Real Trackday/Short Fun Clean Races to enjoy them. Tracks are changed by vote and no drifting around/drive erratically unless you want to get kicked.

Will be fun to have some "purists" out there to join the fun! 👍

See you there!

I will join you guys in the near future. Right now I want to get 100% completion on the game. The last few % is proving to be difficult. For example I really hate the Red Bull events.

I'm pretty casual when it comes to racing. I'm not huge into tuning so yes, you could say I'm a driving purist.

I used to tune all cars immediately but all this does is numbs the feel and makes every car handle basically the same.

This was me. I'd rather drive cars the way they were made to be driven--bone stock. 👍

It bothers me immensely that online it seems like everyone spent 40,000 to put RS tires on their road car, which clearly did not come with them... ... Then they complain about their car flipping, when in real life it never seems to flip. (well yeah they don't have uber racing tires on them!) And those "fast ones," you see in real life videos probably have track tires on that are equivalent to SS on.

I'm driving all AIDS off as well and really miss a "hardcore" or realistic league around GTP.
I was thinking myself about joining or creating a club and/or a racing league with the following specs:

- No ABSor other AIDS
- Damage Heavy
- Penalty Off (I hate ghost car)
- Tyres based on car model and PP (Some cars deserves a SS)
- Race Cars only with RH

As mentioned before, the best of it go in cockpit view with HUD off but its not mandatory.
So, should we work on it?
