Yes but you have to suspend your disbelief before reading anything on that site these days.

Autosport are pretty much convinced that Alonso is leaving Ferrari at the end of the year, but they're not offering much on where he might be going. Most of the 2015-themed rumours have switched focus to his replacement, with Bianchi touted as the obvious choice, though I have heard that Vettel could replace him with an announcement as early as Monday. Although that seems like a stretch to me - as if people are trying to get ahead of the curve.

McLaren, Mercedes, Williams and Red Bull are only teams that I think Alonso would accept from the grid right now. And as Williams and Mercedes are only teams that have already confirmed their both drivers, both McLaren and Red Bull are option for him, although I don't see any point in him going to Red Bull as they could use Kvyat as Vettel's replacement if he leaves.

Since Autosport are claiming it as well I believe it's safe to say:

:P

I don't get why Alonso would go to McLaren.

Bad as they are this year, Ferrari are still better than McLaren even with the best engine on the grid.

No way are McLaren more likely to build him a good car that Ferrari.

McLaren would be a high-risk for Alonso. An unproven engine in a car that, at least this year, was not as good as the top teams. He's been quoted as saying he's going to do whatever is low-risk for him and Ferrari.

Can't predict anything in F1, when alonso moved to Mclaren in 2007 everyone thought it was a bad idea in 2006 after Newey had left and Mclaren where off form that year.

Mclaren have had some huge changes this year in preparation for Next year and Honda have looked very serious about this as well and seem very involved with the driver selection.

Doesn't Mean results will happen but it wouldn't be wise to rule them out.

Picking the list from the OP, where can Alonso go anyway? These are the teams he might be interested in:

McLaren:

no contract
no contract

Mercedes AMG Petronas:
Nico Rosberg (ends 2016)
Lewis Hamilton (ends 2015)

Infiniti Red Bull Racing:
Daniel Ricciardo (ends 2017)
Sebastian Vettel (ends 2015)

Williams Martini Racing:
Felipe Massa (2015)
Valtteri Bottas (2015)

In red the contract extensions signed already this year (2014), it would seem foolish for the parties interested to rip those.

So the obvious destination is McLaren. However, I fear it will be a disaster for Alonso to go that way.

The way I see it, with Alonso saying he will do the "best for Ferrari" and Mattiacci (or ist it Marcchione) saying that the team is more important than its partners ... Alonso has been shown the door.

Mercedes have said their lineup next year isn't 100% either. With Lewis buying his father a Ferrari back in the early summer.. in Maranello... it sparked rumors of him going to Ferrari.

Probably nothing to go on though. Lewis has stated a desire to race for Ferrari, but who in F1 wouldn't have a dream of racing for the Scuderia.

Adam Cooper thinks Alo/Ham swap is more likely than Alo/Vet. I would agree, especially if Ham is crowned champion this year, but I don't think Alonso can wait until the very end of the season to secure his 2015 drive. That's why McLaren seems much more likely.

My Bet would be Vettel will be lured by Ferrari if they don't get him then they will get Bianchi.

Mclaren would then be Alonso and Magnussen, with Button Retiring.

Redbull if Vettel goes would have Kyvat moved up to Partner Ricciardo and Sainz to take the seat vacant at Torro Rosso.

If Lewis somehow Goes to Ferrari then Alonso replacing him could be a possibility however there has been no reports on anything like this happening so I think it would be out of the question.

Now if 3 cars are added then everything gets blown Wide open.

Unlike Adam Cooper, Joe Saward thinks the most likely scenario is the Alo/Vet swap. And he aligns many reasons why he thinks it.

But for you lazy people :P here the juicy bits:

No-one doubts that Honda has impressive capabilities for the longer term, but the word is that the new engine is late, heavy and not powerful enough. That may or may not be true, and Honda may be working 24 hours a day trying to fix the problem, as the rumours suggest, but all of this would make McLaren-Honda a worrying course of action for Alonso. He needs success and he needs it quick. His best choice, given that Mercedes Benz does not have availability, is to join the second best team. And the second best team in 2014 is… Infiniti Red Bull Racing.

Joe Saward
The Red Bull chassis is good. Red Bull will tell you that there’s no availability because Sebastian Vettel and Dan Ricciardo are under contract, but that may not be the case if there is a Ferrari available for a talented youngster with past success and ambitions to prove that he’s not a one-team wonder. For Vettel to truly join the all time greats of F1, he needs to win the title with more than one team. Add to that the fact that his reputation has been damaged this year by the gnashing ambitions of Dan Ricciardo and one can see that the departure of Vettel makes an awful lot of sense… for all concerned. That would open the door for Alonso to slide into a Red Bull.

And ...

Joe Saward
This has been rumoured on and off for a few weeks now, but there are now one or two signs that perhaps it is not as daft an idea as some will tell you. If all was well, Vettel’s chief mechanic Kenny Handkammer would not have disappeared from the team. I am not a gambling man, but I can see Kenny popping up in a red uniform in a few months from now. If a driver is going off to a new team, he will often want his own people around him. And, guess what? Is it a coincidence that Vettel’s race engineer from his days at Scuderia Toro Rosso, Riccardo Adami, is leaving the Faenza team and the word is that he will soon pop up at Ferrari.

Ending with ...

Does this sound like a new team forming up in Maranello? On balance I’d go with that… The evidence is beginning to stack up and the whispers are growing, not amongst the media, but rather among the folk who know these things. There are nods and winks that were not there a fortnight ago.

Vettel going to Ferrari does make sense, but Alonso going to Redbull doesn't or atleast as much.

Why? Red Bull is the second best team so far this season.
Well for starters you have Helmut Marko, that alone would worry Alonso knowing there is a fair chance he isn't going to be treated equal alongside Ricciardo, then you have the Red Bull driver program issue of having too many drivers and not enough seats. Kyvat has shown alot of speed this year and is probably worth the promotion however this would be the riskest one yet going by past history(would need another season atleast to be fully ironed out), however Ricciardo has established him self as a driver that can go for the title.

Sainz surely needs to be promoted after he is basically assured of the F3.5 Title and is truly deserving of the STR ride.

It's possible Alonso could end up at Redbull but it would be 2 years maximum, which would likely be his final two years if it came to that, if Redbull did go with this option it would likely be to get a Result out of the Kyvat/Verstappen Pairing and going with the best driver after that duration, whilst giving their main team maximum ability to go for the WDC/WCC Titles.

If Redbull do go with Alonso, Sainz isn't going to have a Future in F1 likely(which would be pretty Ironic to have Spains best ever F1 driver, stop Spains most promising New Talent from having an F1 career).

Red Bull Racing have confirmed Sebastian Vettel is leaving the team end of the season within last few minutes. Kyvat moves over to RBR.
