Finally watched it... on a lark. With 2F2F and Tokyo Drift, I swore I wouldn't watch them in the theaters... but this one... hey, it's Vin Diesel! I'll watch anything with Vin Diesel in it!
Had a great time. My wife hated it (understandably... she's a Jean Claude van Damme fan )... but I was laughing my ass off all movie.
I mean... this is comedy gold. When you're going at full speed and the bad guys are catching up, what do you do? Hit the gas!
When you're going at full speed and the cops are catching up? Hit the gas!
When people are shooting at your windshield? Hit the gas!
Seriously... Dom and crew seem to have the slowest supercharged Dodge Charger in history... but it's tough as a tank...
They roll it in 1 and it's back in one piece... now they flatten it against a tunnel wall and blow it up, and it still comes back at the end of the movie! Genius!
Be sure to catch the scene where Dom plays "The Car Whisperer", too.
And this movie was just chock full of cheesy one-liners. You could almost recite the lines before they're said, they're that predictable. I'm pretty sure I pissed some of the other people off in the cinema when I burst into laughter when "Dom" said "It's already too late."
And then again when they did that little close-up hand-shot.
Apparently, every hand close-up has to have a little... errh... nip... showing. And it was so good the first time, the director did it twice more to ensure that you DID notice.
Apparently, also, you know you've entered an evil lair when girls are kissing girls.
I saw the movie on the weekend as well. I could have pretty much written the script as i predicted most of the one liners throughout the flick.
Nevertheless i liked the show a lot. The story made a good tie up. Better than the 1st 1, the other 2 need to be burned at the stake. Really, i thought it was good, entertaining.
Just got back from the movie, and I'd have to say it's probably my favorite in the series despite all the unrealistic bits and cheestastic lines (Suby missing its drivetrain... Han/Tokyo tie-in... ). It's about time an NSX gets some decent screen time (I sooo want one!), but the full one-and-a-half seconds the RS200 appeared was too disappointing.
The NSX was brilliant, as was the F Bomb but I was sooo disappointed at the lack of the RS200 on screen. It even showed up when he was meant to be selecting cars from the impound but instead chose 3 Skylines (2 of which apparently never appeared?)
I must say though that I liked how they kept his Skyline nice and clean and not modded to look ridiculous. 👍
It also looked like it had a coat of Zymol Royale or Vintage on it, it had that nice sheen they give to the paint. But I doubt they actually spent £7,000 to wax the cars in this film
I watched it too and I actually enjoyed it. If you're disappointed in the amount of realism, then seriously, what were you expecting? It's an action movie. You know, the kind of movies where people get shot and move on like nothing happened, CSIs can make a computer read a license plate from the reflection on somebodies sunglasses, people jump from moving trains and not break anything at all, etc., etc. I would actually be surprised if all the car mechanics and physics were correct.
Of course this movie has more holes in the plot than there are in swiss cheese, but it's an entertaining movie. (for me at least )
At least Michelle Rodriguez died in an early scene, she has got to be the worst actress I have seen in years...
I saw it two weekends ago, it wasn't as bad as I thought it was going to be. One thing that did make me wonder though was why the Dominican Republic looked just like Southern California. My parents have been to the Dominican and from their pictures it looks very different than how they portrayed it in the movie. That was really my only annoyance with the film, everything else was to be expected so I was at least entertained.
Watched it last night and wasn't that impressed. Too much focus on the plot than on the action. It needed more action, but what action scenes it did have were fairly decent. Enough to be enjoyable in a funny, over the top way. Sure, normally you want a good plot by why bother trying with FnF? No one goes to watch those movies for the plot.
The cars and girls did not disappoint though. So much sexy American muscle. Plus I was glad to see that most of the cars weren't completely riced out. The first race was pretty cool with the Skyline and the Chevelle sideways through the streets. Oh and forget NOS, it's all about scramble boost.
Obviously it had it's unrealistic flaws. Like how a car can get enough traction on dirt to do a wheelstand, or that fact that it's so easy to cross the US-Mexico border, and that you can run NitroMethane in your car without it exploding. But hey, FnF has never been about realism and probably never will be.
My advice is to go watch it with friends and possibly include beer, then you'll have no problem enjoying it
I don't know what kind of films you think are good, but plot is generally considered to be the meat of the film and action is nothing more than gravy. Because when you reverse that, you end up with the likes of John Woo's Mission: Impossible II where the plot is written around the action scenes and makes for a very poor final product.
This is one thing I love about the film too! Why, despite them often being involved in races, do they never seem to be going flat out in the first place? There's always that little extra inch and a half of throttle pedal that they never seem to be using until someone catches up and then POW they hit the gas and go quicker. Why not just press it down all the way and go quicker in the first place, dummy?
Just saw the film yesterday, my girlfriend took me to see it as she reckoned it'd be my sort of thing. She's partly right and partly wrong I do like the odd bit of "remove brain and leave at home" entertainment occasionally, but as a bit of a car geek I usually bring my brain along and then amuse myself with how a heavy petrol tanker can bounce and barrel-roll without seeming to slow down in the slightest for a good half a mile, and then still have enough momentum to knock a heavy wagon off the edge of a cliff, and then still have enough fuel left in it to create a huge explosion. For example.
I enjoyed the film, but I shall also enjoy mocking it and mocking those who treat it as the gospel of car tuning.

I think the "you owe me a 10 second car" line was the most predictable. I still haven't figured out why it's 10 seconds. I'm also glad Paul Walker's "this is bull****" line made it back. On that line his voice tone changed from this movie into the first.
They tried to remove some of the cheese-tastic factor by avoiding mentioning or showing any tuning in the script... though Brian's garage montage did show an engine up on a hoist.

Seriously, when somebody says "Stop before it's too late...", there's really only one answer to that question. It's one of the oldest revenge-movie cliches in the book.
The "he used to date my sister" - "you're lucky" sketch would have worked better if the guy they were talking to actually knew Dom in the first place. As it was, it was just weird.

I saw this, finally, last night and have to say that I loved it. It made a reasonable link between the second and third chapters (before I realised this I had a hard time believing Hahn survived the accident) and the nostalgia created by the the original cast was brilliant. The inaccuracies of the movie to real-world driving are irrelevant really for it is shot as an entertaining action film, and the beautiful cars (e.g., BB BNR34) and women (e.g., Jordana Brewster -wow) should have more than made up for it.
Only disappointment - the Nissan GTR selected by Walker never eventuated, and the film, although needing to form the bridge between the reasonable 2nd and abhorrent 3rd film, was forced to acknowledge the horror that was Tokyo Drift. Let us hope that the already mentioned 5th instalment takes off from Tokyo Drift (as to end the series on the TD note would be depressing).
Hahn didn't survive the accident. The film actually takes place before TD... and judging from the way the FBI treats Bryan, possibly before 2F2F, also.

I actually thought TD was better than the rather laggy 2F2F... (though I don't really rate any of the series very highly).
AHHH, its so cute. I rather enjoyed this one. For the most part the car stunts were believable well besides the opening scene. It really seemed like the were trying to make up for the two tragedies that preceded it. Still though, it's not as good as the first title, which I loved, but it's nice to see them get back on track. My question though, what happened to Leon, Vince, and Jesse? I guess Jesse, could of died, and Vince, went to jail (but for how long?), but what about Leon?
I saw this movie on the flight back from Aus and the verdict from me is...
It's full of fail. Not as bad as TD but still not great. Did they steal the bit at the start from Mad Max? You know, when they are nicking petrol
Hello..
I liked all The Fast and the Furious. I also like the "car" part. It is the best. I think third one is very good because of its story line. I also can't wait for a next movie.
