Saw it at the theater yesterday, and what can I say? I guess if you combine every unrealistic movie there is, it still wouldn't be as unrealistic as this...

Wheelie on street road with street low profile tires? A street car running on nitromethane? Wheelie when downshifting while being at speed in the dessert? Cars going 200mph in a small and dark tunnel? Cars having 20 gears? Countless of crashes that would definitely be fatal in real life? A 1/4 mile apearing being as long as afull mile? 15 seconds being 30 seconds? The list just never ends... BUT, the cars and girls were hot!

Those cars were never going 200Mph in the tunnels, nor did it ever give the impression they were. The cars were never shown has having 20 gears, & all of the crashes that would be fatal were. And I don't see where any of the races projected itself as a 1/4 mile.

There are a few inaccuracies in the movie, but a few of your complaints are just exaggerating.

Some of his complains are actually very plausible. In the first movie, the very first drag race endured like 2 minutes :odd: And I doubt they would have had enough people to block ALL of the roads. It's funny how tuner culture gets such a bad name from movies like this 👎 Not that in real life tuner culture is good, either. Everything with a crazy spoiler and paintjob, with or without good performance tuning, is stupid in my opinion.

Some of them yes. The ones I addressed though, were not really projected the way he thought they were.

As for closing off roads, they mock it in this one. Makes for an interesting race.

Hmm, every crash I saw that appeared to be fatal didn't show the guy getting out so i'd have to assume he was a goner. Hey Reventon, that black truck that was in the movie was a Lamborghini LM002 right?

He might be referring to the occurrence of rather absurd flurry of repeated downshifts and upshifts that all of the movies (especially the second one) suffered from. I haven't seen this one, so maybe it doesn't occur here.

All that is enough for me to know is that the movie was panned by Rotten Tomatoes, whilst Gran Torino got a 80% certified fresh rating :D

(Advertising? YOU be the judge!)

Yes sir. I was the only one of my friends who seemed to catch it. :D

You'll see them doing it, but not anywhere as much as the previous three. In fact, it's actually a bit more realistic.

I've always wondered what the point was of it. The way they present it (again, especially in the 2nd movie) made me think that during this breakneck street race that they were piddling around at 5000 RPM or something. We once watched the original movie in school and it was almost immediately lampshaded during the first race (Among other hilariously absurd things things. Too much NOS makes the floorpan fall off.) by a friend of mine who isn't even really that much of an auto enthusiast.

I wasn't sure at first if it was but after getting a better look at it I was sure. I told my brother-in-law who was next to me "believe it or not that's a Lamborghini.". He thought I was joking, i showed him afterward. My next question... that was a real LM002 right? That thing was clean.

Excuse me, but you really need to open your eyes... really. When I say 20 gears and 200mph in the tunnel, I obviously didn't mean litterally, but I thought you'd get the idea. When the female voice on the GPS says "1/4 mile to go", you thought it appeared to be a 1/4 mile?

You're saying the movie is almost realistic then? Boy o' boy...

That's probably why he commented that your complaints were exaggerated... severely exaggerated I might add.

The point of the movie is not to be realistic. The point is to appeal to the general masses while still being somewhat believeable and entertaining to car guys. Of course car guys will know that you can't downshift and wheelie, but the general masses are more likely to believe that. It's an action movie first and a car movie second.

The movie studio got your money so they don't really care if you think it's unrealistic.

By the way, I thought the movie was good.

I think it was lame that they killed Letty off in the first 15 minutes though.

Did I say you meant that literally? No, and I think you're still exaggerating some of the inaccuracies.

And no, I did not because it never made a 1/4 mile appear as a mile long.
I also never said it was almost realistic.

Let's stop putting words in my mouth, as well better explaining what you meant.

Well, I'm happy then. For a second it seemed you tried to claim the movie was realistic.

This was horrible.

This was horrible.

It's always the same; rediculously pimped out muscle cars, pink Skylines, drugs and lesbians. Fail.

Not watching it, gimme Gran Torino!
Drugs play a role, but they help keep the story interesting. Everything else you just said was not in the film.

Fixed that for ya! ;). Also, 2F2F was extremly worse than that^. and I hated it for making the skyline(r34) a new ricer's favorite.

Not to mention terrible over-acting, bad dialogue, crappy spcial effects and the tendency to sexualise the cars more than the women. The lesbians are just window-dressing for the pre-pubescent boys who like this kind of film and think this kind of thing actually happens and so endeavour to make their cars look like that and think it looks good.

Also, they've already released the trailer for the next one.

We didnt have a chance to stay after the credits rolled past. Did they show anything else after the credits?

The Skyline had been a ricer's favorite long before 2F2F. That was the entire reason it was in the movie.

Well, the R34 was its favorite. The R33 just stood there and looked pretty.
The Fast and the Curious

Just got back from the movie, and I'd have to say it's probably my favorite in the series despite all the unrealistic bits and cheestastic lines (Suby missing its drivetrain... Han/Tokyo tie-in...). It's about time an NSX gets some decent screen time (I sooo want one!), but the full one-and-a-half seconds the RS200 appeared was too disappointing.

Just saw it, and hey it was alrite. The first few parts were a bit boring to be honest, and felt like an eternity. But towards the end it was pretty good, safe to say the best of the series so far me thinks.

How did you see it? Special pre-screening?:odd:
