Curious at the specs needed to run the game; I may make the switch and play it on PC at this point.
I would assume a moderate gaming PC will work fine. Great thing with PC is the flexibility. You can turn down a setting or two to get the right fit for your particular system.

This is kind of the perfect scenario for me. I ditched the PS3 for PC a couple of years ago and I haven't looked back. I am a potential (and likely) customer now. I played, maybe, an 2 hours of Forza in my life prior to the Apex release, but without wheel support it didn't interest me much. Now with full wheel support, I can have a great car collecting/tuning/modding game with lots of eye candy while also having access to legitimate PC racing sims. I think this is a brilliant move by Microsoft/T10. Looking forward to giving this a go.

He didn't give any details, but in the same IGN interview where he said FM7 is the first built from the ground up for PC he also said they have tuned the game to still be able to run 60FPS on low spec PCs.

I wouldn't assume that. For the typical new PC games, if you want to run it with all of the eye candy on, you better have an i7 and 1080 GPU. If your GPU is 3+ years old, to get the 60 FPS, you'll probably need to run many of the settings on LOW. The "standards" for game performance on a console do not apply to PC gaming.

Do you not game on PC?

This isn't really how it works. For one, there's no way you need a GTX1080 for max settings at 60fps with only 1080p. Unless they have some super ridiculous and demanding options.

And a number of 3 year old GPU's are still quite good. GTX970/980 and R9 290/290X will likely run this at max or near max settings 1080p/60fps. These GPU's are a whole lot more powerful than an XB1, after all.

I'm in a quandry about Xbox Scorpio.

I assume that the One S and earlier can do a solid 1,080p @ 60fps. I dont care about 4k as I dont intend to buy a 4k screen any time soon.

I also have a game PC with an RX480 that does Apex just fine.

So I dont have any reason to buy Scorpio. I'm happy with the content that is supposed to be in 7 but I'm keeping a raise eyebrow to see where they try to get my money... sure I expect the useless $20 VIP and maybe another $20 Nascar pack... maybe a $20 RUF Pack if they want to be cheeky...

It will run it fine but the Scorpio would downsample from 4K to 1080p so still give much better image quality.

Not really, no. With an i7 and a 1080 you can run 4K with all or most of the eye candy on. FH3 is notoriously poorly optimised, and I'm running 4K downsampled to 1080p with everything except AA maxed (cos why use AA when you're downsampling).

If your GPU is 3+ years old, say, a 970, you'll run high settings at 1080p, and probably have a graphical experience similar to the Pro/1X. It seems that people who don't game on PC routinely overestimate both the cost and the difficulty of gaming on PC.

My GTX1070 handles FM6:APEX at 4k60FPS on Ultra settings without issue, and Dan Greenwalt did say in an interview with IGN that they are making the game so it can still run at a smooth 60FPS on lower end gaming PCs.

I meant for the very top end of the range of people who would want to run Triple 4k screens.

The Dan Greenwalt quote below mentioned by @ShawnPhillips is interesting. Good to know. Sounds like they are going to, almost excessively, limit the settings to allow for low end PCs to play. All that means is that a high end user will get 150+ FPS, but not be able to fully utilize the system they have. Which actually makes me think it is not truly built from the ground up on PC because it obviously will not be optimized in such a way. But I'm fine with that. So long as the "port" (probably dangerous using that word here) is clean, it'll be fine.

Now we just need confirmation of significant improvements to the steering wheel FFB.

Apex FFB feels so canned and artificial next to PC sims, and Horizon 3 FFB support on PC was a roller coaster of changes breaking things, revising things and often going in the wrong direction, fixing one issue but breaking others in the process. T10 could do so much better if they really tried, and I'm still worried that the game's controller wielding majority ensures that the wheel is second class Citizen and doomed to be a poor second in the franchise.

So come on T10, invite a bunch of sim specialist reviewers round and show off your much improved wheel support and FFB. I'll preorder the ultimate edition as soon as you do that! :)

This is great news. Forza Apex looked spectacular and the overall driving feel seemed pretty good to me using a T500RS. Running with a 1080Ti had no trouble getting north of 60Hz frame rates @4K with everything maxed out, so expect to get the same with FM7. PCars2, FM7 on Win10 ... now when was GT Sport getting released again ... ?? :-D

Codemasters couldn't do it right with Dirt Rally and a fan who actually had a clue offered to fix it for free, so they flew him out and improved it immensely.

Turn10 on the other hand just go silent and pretend there is no problem, they could really do with taking a leaf out of Codemasters book because it wasn't long ago they were also sweeping issues with F1 games under the rug too.

Well we got this teaser a while back, implying some good things could happen: https://www.gtplanet.net/forza-moto...-fanatec-with-promising-news-for-wheel-users/

They better offer VR support as well. After expierencing Assetto Corsa, pCars and iRacing in full VR I can never go back to triples again. I stopped playing FH3 for that same reason.

Well my issue is nobody in the team has done anything about it before now and yet they have had demos on rigs, how could none of them tell or care it was terrible before?

One thing is for sure if it doesn't get improved it will get absolutely slaughtered by the PC crowd with refunds coming thick and fast.

They wont.
Turn10 is probably one of the most trusted developers (bar few others),cant see happening this thing with refunds even in my wildest dreams

If I remember correctly fanatec was working with them to improve ffb

I really hope this means something. Forza Horizon 3's poor optimization made me fear the worst for FM7. I want to be able to run the game as smooth as I run FH3 with my settings and specs.

Here's the funny thing for me... Apex ran fine.

FH3 even in the last patches did not.

So what am I supposed to tthink? I bought FH3 based on the fact that I thought it would run well given Apex runs well and even now, it still doesnt.

I get that many people have seen improvements in FH3 but I havent and neither have many other people.

Is it my PC? Then why does Apex and everything else run fine.

To me FH3 on PC was solely about 60fps, something you cant do on console.

This isnt a thing for Forza 6/7 as its ALREADY 60fps on console.

I'm not sure I'll buy F7 day one.

FH3 will always have issues. YOu have to take in mind that FH3 is not only their second PC port, but it is a massive, rather complicated game compared to Apex. Game runs fine for me, locked at 72fps with high settings. It is the constant crashes, extra content failing to work on release and unstable performance what really ruins the experience. I don't think they will ever optimize this game to a decent level.

I am a bit skeptical with FM7, but I will definitely get it on day one. Even Pre-order if there is an Ultimate Edition. There is a chance that the same issues FH3 was plagued with won't be present in FM7 due to the nature of the game.
