Monaco contract extended until 2035. Cue a decade of fruitless experimental rules to turn it into an actual competitive race.

Domenicalli wants shorter, more exciting races but extends this?

Hmm.

Kyalami beats out Cape Town to get the support of the South African government for a future race - but it's not financial support from them, instead relying on the private sector. A long shot going against other government funded bids.

I think the two pit stop rules was a good thing to try and much better than sit on hands strategy for the last umpteen years.

Big problem with implementing it was teams a drivers chose unsportsmanlike conduct to take advantage of the situation.

There is a rule against unsportsmanlike conduct and if the stewards gave warning at first signs of malarkey and then a penalty it could have been very interesting.

Unfortunately via steward action:
  • validated win or success at any cost including creating a farce of a race is acceptable.
  • precedent set now that they will probably not try this again, while numerous circuits it could be a good idea if implemented with a bit thoughtfulness.

2026 calendar confirmed. 6 sprints (no changes from the leaked list). Canadian GP starts a bit earlier to avoid clash with Indy 500.

That 5pm local Singapore sprint might be a bit sweaty. Also, the Zandvoort date is wrong unless they're racing on Mondays now.

Later, not earlier. Asinine that there is 3 week gap in between Miami and Montreal. I guess they are walking there.

The earlier the Canadian GP is the further into winter the set up has to start, which as I understand it is the limiting factor. Montreal didn't want to move earlier than their original June date but it's been forced upon them.
