Wait . . . what? Maybe I read this wrong, but Samurai X is no where near the comedic side of Rurouni Kenshin. Rurouni Kenshin is the funny part of the series and Samurai X is the serious, dark side of the series.
Wow...Im getting the facts wrong of my favorite anime T_T *kills self*

Thnx for the quick response Kent. +rep:tup:

just finished Death Note yesterday and i must say that the ending sucked big time. The whole story was taking you in the cartoon and with that ending, it was really dissapointing:(

I didn't watch all of the Anime, but I did read all of the Manga. The ending in the Manga seemed quite well suited to the story, and more or less showed Light for what he is.

Making slow but steady progress in Outlaw Star, quite enjoyable show.

Yup, that's how I understand it. 👍

Anyone else watching these final few episodes of FMA? There great. 👍
Right now I'm watching what I think is the last episode.
So much to say, so many spoilers, I just can't say much for the because of those spoilers.

The reason was that the storyline really sucked you in and it was enjoyable to see. Oh well i guess that i expected too much. Anyone got an anime recommend to see?

^ I've just watched the first episodes of Blood+. And I got to say, so far so good! It has the flow, character development, and the art style. Its a must see. 👍

:)

Surprisingly, I didn' like Blood Plus. However there is a pretty good show on Ani-Monday called Noein. It deals alot with quantaum physics and stuff like that....

^ Maybe the dubs turned you off, and frequently ruins the whole series in my book. Thats why I opted for subs! ;)

the 3 samurai x movies are my all time favourite anime (the seriouse ones)
then akira, then (cough - cough) the street fighter II anime (i love that game)
then macross plus, then the initial d series, but just cos of the cars. i dont really rate other anime that highly. akira though, is a masterpiece. but other than that alot of anime i watch seems to be thrown together quickly and doesnt seem as good as it could be. maybe thats cos i watch them in english.

Re: Blood+... Mark Mancina did the score. Interesting. I wonder how I, as a mere Englishman, can get hold of this series?

Just to qualify this... I enjoy Mark Mancina's scores, when they suit the film... and I'm very much aware he has a style which sometimes is toooo recognisable/samey. Mind you, Danny Elfman gets away with it too. ;)

^ What!? They're going to re-air 'Bebop' again!? Enough already! Can't they come up anything newer like Death Note or Sayonara Zetbutsu Sensei or even Godannar? I know Cowboy Bebop is an excellent anime to most people, but reruns totally moans me over. :indiff:

Some people haven't seen more than a few episodes of cowboy bebop though... like me.

Thanks to them reruning shows, i was able to watch the full FMA series and the movie (well, most of the episodes i watched on myspace). Without them doing that, all i would have remembered was that show i saw a year or two ago where this metal guy had a red thing in his chest.

I'm cool with seeing Bebop on Adult Swim again.
Heck, that's just one thing you can't complain about in my book at this time. Just look at the AS line-up. There's way too much crap like "Saul of the Mole Men" to even consider complaints about rerunning a series like Bebop.

None the less, keep in mind that's still a buisness and not a little fanclub devoted to ani-philes. To air a television show is a venture and right now you just can't expect a network like CN or Sci-fi to air anime only a few people might be able to pronounce. Heck, are the anime listed by VanishingBoy availible with dubbs? You think CN or Sci-fi is honestly going to consider Subbed Material?
Hate to break it to you but Subbed Anime just isn't going to hit big with Cable Anime Presentations such as what you find with Adult swim and Ani-Mondays. :ouch:

All that said, I'd like to see Bebop back. 👍
Btw, I imagine Death Note and Godannar both have subbed eps availible.
Still, trying to get those new anime aired is a different subject... Sure, everyone would love some new stuff but complaining about Bebop's rerunning is just a little too much for me. :p

-> Well. As I think more thouroughly, AS is showing more crap 'toons lately. So ruturning bebop was not that bad of an idea. :)

-> And by the way, isn't that there was rumors 3 years ago that CN is planning to extend its franchise. As Toonami getting more and more popular, CN was considering making Toonami its own anime channel (like Animax in Asia). Well what happend to that!?

How can you guys like dubbed anime? Its takes everything away fromt he anime IMO. I love having subbed anime:D

Some of us, *cough* myself and Kent *cough*, are just happy to get whatever anime the TV stations will provide us and do not get overly snobbish about whether it is dubbed or subbed.

-> It really does depends otherwise. Like for example, Godannar, Azumanga Daioh, and Full Metal Panic series or mainly the latest ADV and Geneon released series claimed the best dubs in an anime series in my book. 👍

-> And so far, Funimation and Bandai is still ways to go, I just hate what they did to Negima! and Love Hina. :grumpy:

Why am i snobbish then, because i have another opinion then you? Get real.

^ Yo, calm down, we understand that some people are happy with standard dub from those are on TV, just like my best friend he ok with any dubs unless he has no choice. :)

~> In fact, Tagalog dubs are way better than US English, and Int'l English. But after watching Tagalog dubs, watching JDM subs feels kinda awkward, but thats just me. I'm Pinoy, I can't help it. ;)

Why am i snobbish then, because i have another opinion then you? Get real.

I did not say you were snobbish. I can see how you may have taken it that way, but it was meant as a generalization of the whole dubbed/subbed argument and how the subbed proponents come off when they talk about the supposed subbed superiority.

Instead, my post implied that most often subtitle faithful strongly believe anime should only be watched with subtitles and this leads to a severe superiority complex in regards to dubbed anime. Those subtitled believers overlook the fact that many anime viewers are just happy to watch whatever they can get their hands on and do not mind it being subtitled or dubbed.

I for one could absolutely careless if the anime I watch is subtitled or dubbed; instead I am happy that I am getting to view a series that I may not have been able to experience otherwise.

The sub vs. Dub arguement is like the arguement between Hardcore F1 fans and Hardcore NASCAR fans over whose sport is better. Both are incrediblely annoying.

My opinion is that I'll watch both.I'll watch a sub if I can't find a dub of the show I watch,or the dub is crap (edited too much or VA suck). To me it doesn't matter, I'm watching anime. Those who think that anime are ONLY meant to be watched in subs are retarded. People who think that all dubs are great (including 4kids *shudders*) are retarded. In the end both arguing parties are retarded, because they are arguing over two good things.SOme subs are annoying, and some dubs suck major penguin butt. Both have good points and bad. Some people just like their sides because they like.it SO why argue over it? It's not like you're going to convert people over...

ANyways....

Adult swim has gone downhill. It's mainly reruns and garbage shows no one watches.

This reminds me does anybody rember Anime Unleashed on the now non-exsistant Tech-tv? Why did they cancel it when it became G4 (that channel sold out)?

And this is really what I was wanting to get it, but was waiting for someone to reply first. My whole thing is that a good/great anime is going to be good/great no matter if it is dubbed or subbed. The dubbed version may be better than the subbed in some instances and the subbed version may be better in others.

And in the end, all it comes down to is I want to watch quality anime and I do not care how I get to watch it. I do not want to watch anime that is not entertaining and interesting and bad anime is going to be bad, be it subtitled or dubbed.

It does not remind me of Anime Unleashed because well, I never got to experience it or Tech-TV. But I will say that I do not watch a whole lot of Adult Swim at the moment because I am sick of having to deal with their extremely terrible shows, i.e. Saul of the Mole Men. Usually, I will watch Futurama and Family Guy if the episode showing is one I enjoy; otherwise, I try to find something else on TV because I have seen every episode of Futurama and Family Guy probably close to a dozen or more times.

On Tech TV-> I remembered watching Anime Unleashed back in the glory days of TechTV. I used to remember watching Creat, Dual, and Boogiebop. Although I've never got caught up with those series. :(

On sub vs. dub-> I'm on neither side on this either, its more like of a preference basis. Only when the dubs really do suck, but if its on TV, anime's there! So I'll watch it! :dopey:

~> See... :sly:

I usually like to watch dubbed anime. The subbed anime imo really takes your eyes off the action and onto reading the words. Another thing is that after watching a show that is dubbed for a few episodes, it is very hard to watch the subbed versions because you have gotten used to the characters voice.

The only dubbed show that i absolutely hate has to be naruto. The way they dub it is just absolutely horrible. I'll have to watch a subbed version sometime so i can decide whether its just the whole show that sucks, or just the dubbed version.

The only anime that i have ever watched completely subbed is Initial D 4th stage, and the movie.

-> Unfortunately, I was never hooked anything in regards to Andrew E back in his glory days. Never quite grabbed me. :indiff:

On Tagalog anime-> Here are the best animes that are Tagalog dubs are the following (1995-1999):

- Ghost Fighter (aka. Yu Yu Hakusho)
- The Trapp Family Singers (aka. The Trapp Family Story)
- Saber Marionette J and J to X
- Tenchi Muyo! TV
- The Adventures of Peter Pan (aka. Peter Pan no Boken)
- Cedie, ang Munting Principe (aka. Little Prince Cedie TV)
- Sarah, ang Munting Princesa (aka. A Little Princess Sara)

^ Although it was a low blow to some people (just like Initial D), some of the characters names in Yu Yu were altered like:

- Yuusuke = Eugene
- Hiei = Vincent
- Kurama = Dennis
- Botan = Charlene
- Kawabara = Alfred
- Genkai = Jeremiah

-> And also in Saber Marionette:

- Bloodberry = Barbini

^ Although it sounded very wrong, it really blends with the dubs really well, in fact those tagalog dubs on TV back in Manila were a lot better that those that are realeased here (in US) and even from JDM land. I wonder how will Bleach, Naruto, or Gundam SEED does in Tagalog?

BT-> So far I'm watching Lucky Star, and boy is so damn funny! It's definitely worth my wasted time.

:)
