Oh my, this cover art, it's so tempting.
Inu X Boku SS Volume 1
---------------------
Is it me, or did the price on The Big O Blu-ray Box go up on Amazon Japan, or did the conversion rate get even ******** for Americans? A few years ago 100 yen was $1 (That's pretty much what it is when exchange rates are taken out.), now it's $1.28.
http://www.amazon.co.jp/dp/B005AQKWOS/
It's $382 right now. To think a few years ago, it probably would have been $269.90. Fate/Zero would have been $274.22.
http://www.amazon.co.jp/dp/B005ZOPANI/
The only reason why the Amazon Japan discount is cheaper than what Rightstuf is giving is due to this.
Due to the highly limited nature of the Fate/Zero box set, we will be sending all parcels via a trackable method with additional insurance. As such, this set incurs a surcharge for the insurance cost. This surcharge has already been figured into "your price" and is why the international cost is slightly higher than that for US customers.

Two-day express shipping is not available for this box set.

I hate it, HATE IT!!!

And it makes me hate it more when nothing interesting is going on at FP.

What lots of people will be doing on Valentines Day, shutting themselves in their basement (Can be their own or their mothers.), and watching Madoka Magica. It comes out tomorrow. DVD is $30, BD is $40, and the DVD/BD LE is $75.

Whatever FP is...

ForzaPlanet.

I am going to bed too. Got a big romantic day tomorrow with mai waifu so I need plenty of rest!

I leave you all with this:

I feel sorry for you. Even though that's probably how I'm spending my valentine's day  Just without the Asuka bit :P

But that isn't until June around here so I still have plenty of time to fix this :sly:

Watching the same image of Asuka, or a slideshow of Asuka images all day, nice.

You just noticed? I noticed a LONG time ago. Nice how things go with the top 10. Here's the top 10, and then what they rank in popularity on MAL right now. Goes to show "Popularity=/=Overall Ranking". Also I wonder when they'll update the rankings next.

1. Gintama'-Ranked 713
2. Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood-Ranked 13
3. Steins;Gate-Ranked 165
4. Clannad After Story-Ranked 40
5. Gintama-Ranked 81
6. Legend of the Galactic Heroes-Ranked 693
7. The Disappearance of Haruhi Suzumiya-Ranked 138
8. Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion R2-Ranked 8 (The only time I have ever seen the popularity and overall ranking being the exact same number.)
9. Evangelion 2.0 You Can (Not) Advance-Ranked 227
10. Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann-Ranked 14.
http://myanimelist.net/topanime.php

What the, Rurouni Kenshin: Trust & Betrayal is 12th, yet it has a mean score of 8.91, which 0.01 higher than Gurren Lagann (10) and Hajime no Ippo (11) which both have a mean score of 8.90. MAL!!!!:grumpy:

High School DxD 6

Putting a Japanese otaku, and a weeaboo in the same episode, what the 🤬?

Well this popped out of nowhere. This is a kinda interesting thread.

FMA:B is damn good, but it's not the 2nd best anime of all time.

And while you're right that the list doesn't correspond 1:1 to popularity, it is heavily skewed by it and fanboyism. And in fact, I probably should've used the term fanboyism instead of popularity to begin with.

Imagine if swarms of kids invaded MAL and rated Pokemon 10/10 because they love it, it's the only anime they've ever known, and they don't even consider that there might be stuff out there that's better.

The analogy breaks down at that last bit. Sure, for kids, Pokemon might be the best thing out there and watching something like EoE would scar them for life. So the kids have an excuse, but older teens and adults should be capable of looking critically at something and realize that, while they may personally love it and not care about the minor blemishes, personally not caring about the flaws doesn't actually fix the flaws.

A more detailed Spring chart by Japanese fans. Neregate doesn't have as much recorded it seems. Unfortunately, this is obviously all in Japanese.

Now, now Lain, we've been over this.:p

Also what if you're the kind of reviewer who'll tack down points even for the most minor flaw? FMA:B could end up being a 2/10 as a result. I've seen harsh reviewers on MAL who have tons of 1/10's, 2/10's, 3/10's, and more due to this. If it has even the smallest flaw, points will be taken down. They're THAT critical. They'll have next to nothing above a 6/10 compared to everything below it. Their MALGraph mean score will be like 1.0-2.0 below the Global Mean score.

Obviously, you take into consideration the severity of the flaw. You don't take off whole points for every tiny little flaw.

And for that matter, you shouldn't review as if everything starts as a 10 and just detract points for flaws. For example, let's examine Pokemon. Alright, it starts off with a clean slate and thus is a 10. Then you start subtracting a point for every handful of minor flaws/annoyances, and subtract several points for major flaws/annoyances. Very rapidly, IT'S UNDER -9000! And -9001/10 makes as much sense as 9001/10. Or perhaps you start it off with a 10, and then subtract nothing because while you subjectively don't like a lot of things, you can't find anything objectively wrong with it.

Scores are a spectrum, and you decide where things belong in relation to one another in the spectrum. For instance, I love love love love Bokurano (as you all may know). But I love love love love love EoE, and it's enough of a difference to where no matter how much I'd love to give Bokurano's that 10, I ultimately have to put it a notch below EoE. And neither are absolutely flawless, but specific flaws aren't why I docked Bokurano a point. I didn't go "well, the robots look kinda bland..." and reference some guide telling me exactly how much I need to deduct from the score for that kind of flaw.

And that brings me to another issue with people's scores. They don't update them to reflect how their tastes have matured. If I watched Pokemon as a kid, rated it a 10, then many years later watched EoE and rated it a 10 but didn't update my score of Pokemon to reflect how I most definitely feel that EoE > Pokemon, this also skews the overall averages. Obviously that's a bit extreme of an example, but still... with thousands of users, all those tiny little fractions of a score that go unchanged to reflect someone's evolving taste add up and definitely affect the average scores. I don't re-rate every anime I've ever seen each time I watch something new, but I do make an effort to periodically re-adjust my scores.

I want to play Tales of Xilia, but we would probably get shafted again

But we are getting Tales of Graces F a month from now.

Makoto Nanaya.

Never played BlazBlue, but a few characters caught my attention. It always looked interesting, maybe I'll give it a try someday.

Anyway, finally caught up with Persona 4 La Animación.

That bit with Nanako was heartbreaking :(

And now I'm off to bed. Oyasuminasai, TGAT.

You will, not us :p

Spring 2012...

Fate Zero S2

possibly Tasogare Otome X Amnesia (sounds kinda dinky) and even less likely, Gokujyo--.

👍 more time to catch up on completed shows.

I forgot to do an OADR for yesterday because of you hooligans.

Goddammit.

Disclaimer: My evermore apparent "potty" mouth is resultant of one Michael Jones. Michael is a gamer who works at RoosterTeeth (the guys behind Red vs. Blue for those of you in the know), well, he's actually with Achievement Hunter, a sub-division of RT. Anyway... he curses all the friggin' time and it's rubbed off on me. I'm more of a potty mouth now than I originally was. Holy 🤬.
