Been watching Captain Earth and a question enters my mind with one of the characters...

Do you think Hana Mutou would pass for a Goodsmile Racing Race Queen for this year? I mean she does have long hair and twintails.

Depends exactly what you're looking for. What have you already seen? What particular type of story are you after?

Cowboy Bebop, if you haven't seen it already...

Otherwise, Serial Experiments Lain for cyberpunk/mind screw, Puella Magi Madoka Magica for something a bit easier to follow than Lain but even more brilliant, FLCL for crazy action comedy, Black Lagoon for an enormous amount of violence and foul language...
 
Started Eyeshield 21. Yep, I have a feeling I'm going to fall in love with this show. I've found recently that I can really get behind sports anime. Thank you shows like Princess Nine and Kuroko's Basketball, along with Haikyuu!! and Baby Steps which are both currently airing.

So a while ago Neregate put out the first version of the summer chart. I don't think I've ever gotten excited for the summer anime season, and this chart makes it seem rather eh, even by those standards. Outside of sequels/stuff attached to an existing franchise (Psycho-Pass and Sailor Moon), not very much is particularly grabbing me which is rather rare because I'm way too open.

So far this is all that's grabbing me/interesting me even just a little:

-Psycho-Pass new edit version
-Himegoto-This sounds rather meh though.
-Sailor Moon Crystal-Also Y U NO LONGER?! Two cours, and 2 episodes a month? What the hell is going on here?
-SAO II-Completionism is the only thing driving me to watch more of this crap.
-Aldnoah.Zero
-Space*Dandy 2
-Prisma Illya S2
-Gekkan Shoujo Nozaki-kun
-Seirei Tsukai no Blade Dance
-Love Stage!!
-Hamatora Second Season-Completionism is the only thing driving me.
-Zankyou no Terror
-Magimoji Rurumo
-Strange+ 2-Completionism again. Thank gawd this is a short, so the torture won't last much longer...
-Shirogane no Ishi Argevollen
-Pokemon XY-It's freaking Pokemon.

Not bad. Not bad at all. I'll definitely be seeing Psycho-Pass. There's a couple more interesting shows, but I will wait until the last version comes out.

lol, so KanColle will be about what, boats?

This chart's lineup seems a lot better than the one you posted up months back, the previous season.

We're about halfway through the season, and this anime season just really continues to deliver for me. First anime season I've considered good since like fall 2012.

What's been really working for me:

-Mushishi S2
-Haikyuu!!
-Baby Steps
-One Week Friends
-Ping Pong: The Animation
-Brynhildr in the Darkness
-Soul Eater Not! (It's not good-no pun intended-but it's something I've genuinely been enjoying)
-If Her Flag Breaks

What I consider good, but haven't really been enjoying...

-Love Live! S2

I believe the school setting works out because pretty much anybody can relate to it. Nearly every person has gone to school one way or another, even if it may not be with other people. Plus school-time is the best time where a person can change the most & can be easily molded. Adults can change as well, but not as big as teens / kids.

A lot of the new summer anime seem interesting so it'll be fun to see how they go. I am curious about KanColle though as it was only released last April but exploded in popularity to the point that they're making an anime a year later. Hell some have referred to it as being the next touhou.

What it is, is Touhou, if it was done all wrong.

The popularity has been immense because the concept is the same; just a bunch of girls all rooted into one series. Only here, they've all rooted them in at once. Fair enough...

But they introduced them in the order that appeals to the most fetishes. Which is why their bunny girl is most popular. Gives you some idea of the fanbase.

Oh, and you can't get any explanation on the girls themselves because the description thinks they're ships. So they don't appear to have any distinct personality.

And you can marry them in the game now. Which is...pretty sad.

And now they have the bare-faced cheek to make an anime out of it. I hope, for all intents and purposes, it is horrible. I don't want to see the back end of one of these tired 'Expy's ever again. I know the Touhou fanbase generally accepts other fanbases, but I wouldn't go within 1000 yards of a Kantai Collection fan.

Besides, on danbooru at least, Touhou still has its number. (yes I care about that sort of thing at this rate.)

So please. Everyone in this thread. Don't watch KanColle. Or do, to realise what a horror it is.
