Master of the Martial Hearts is an awesome series. There were times when it seemed rather stupid and pointless, but the ending was actually pretty cool. And it was short and and sweet and didn't BS around like some series. (looking at you Bleach)

Now, on to RIN: Daughters of the Mesonyme.

^ I'm into that genre a lot SBK! Clannad & Lucky Star are excellent choices, but I can give you some suggestions too:

^ Um, Clannad is slice of life IMO. It almost deals with each characters obstacles in life as an individual. Sure there are a lot of gaps throughout in between the series, but it really does not affect the entire series as a whole. ;)

imo, Slice of Life doesn't include magical stuff like Clannad does with the Parallel Dimension and travellnig back in time.

Anyway,

Elsie's Cooking? or Sanae's Bread + Akiko's Jam?
 
Yeah, while Clannad is great, it certainly does focus on 14 year olds in school, so that's not what SBK was asking for, and I'd call it more of a romance/harem/comedy anime than slice of life.

I'd add Cowboy Bebop, Baccano!, and Rurouni Kenshin to the list of titles SBK might be interested in. I'm sure he already knows Bebop. Baccano is a fairly short series which is a mix of funny and serious, great pacing after the first couple introductory episodes (since there's quite a cast to introduce), set in American 20's. Rurouni Kenshin is a very long series (300 episodes?) with plenty of adult characters and some kids, also balance between funny and serious but more funny, set in Meiji Japan (1880's?) about a Samurai who was the bloodiest killer of them all during the revolution but who now carries a wooden sword and uses it to defend the weak.

Trigun is another good not-too-serious, not too childish series. It has moments of both, but, it's pretty well balanced.

Also, Rin is a pretty cool series so far. The episodes are 45 minutes each and there is six of them. Lots of adult situations, and action mixed in with a little bit of gore and good voice acting. pretty cool.

AOS- -> Clannad dub wasn't THAT bad, Negima! WAS bad. ;)

SS -> I go by my animes in viewer distribution (as in weight distribution in cars). By 40% (in standard english), 50% (in JDM-speak), & 10% (in Pinoy-spec). :sly:

Yup. I almost always watch anime in English, unless the dub is exceptionally bad or there is no dub available.

Subtitles are sometimes more accurate, sure, but I find that dubs usually connect on a more emotional level for me. Some of the English voice acting might be a little poor, but I'm sure some of the Japanese voice acting is too. The only difference is that with Japanese, I'm less able to tell between good or bad voice acting.

On a somewhat related note, my copy of Evangelion 2.22 arrives tomorrow. I've already seen it subbed a couple of times, but I can't wait to watch it dubbed. I like watching Evangelion dubbed in particular, because I find hearing all that techno-babble much sexier than reading it.

Case in point: Inuyasha...although, I have to say, after watching other anime, the English dub of Inuyasha isn't that great either, but it's a heck of a lot better than the Japanese. I know, I've tried to watch it in the Japanese and couldn't stand it.

^ Better than if it was pronounced in Tagalog like:

JDM = American = Pinoy (and its local meaning)

Ko-To-Mi = Kah-Toe-Me = Kutu-Me (flea on me)
Na-Gi-Sa = Na-Geese-Sa = Na-Gisa (got grilled on a stir fryer)
To-Mo-Ya = Ta-Moie-Ya = Ta-Mu-Yah

^ The same thing happend in Saber Marionette series. But in some way, some Tagalog squatter-talk works just to keep the fanbase wider...

^ I've watched both versions. I must say, Ocean Studios did a great job compared most of 90% of mainstream USDM Animes the were ever released, but that my opinion. :)
