-> Seems like Shirobako has a take on Initial D & Wangan Midnight:

^ Nissan March vs. Suzuki Alto.

:dunce:

I'd say it's pretty much a hybrid of both shows, yes. I love the shot of the speedometer on the Micra barely rising and yet the music makes it sound like he's doing 120 mph or something. I also enjoy seeing the female character singing along near the end of the video, it's a cute touch.

Speaking of the song used, is it wrong to admit that I liked listening to it?

Absolutely not. Killing My Love is one of my favourites of the entire soundtrack:

Well, thank God for that then, at least I'm not entirely wrong with liking it. It is a pretty good song, indeed. It was also a way to see that the video that Vanishing posted is actually a fan-made video, using footage from the episode that featured that "epic race". I almost thought that it was a parody song made for the show rather than an official Initial D one. Still, it's oddly fitting for a race between a Micra/March and a goddarn Suzuki Alto...

Very fitting indeed. I know Lucky Star's version of it had an actual song by m.o.v.e, too.

You know, that's rather cool for Lucky Star to have an actual m.o.v.e. song; I always like that sort of "ties to the show it's making a parody of" clues. It's the same with the parody in Urusei Yatsura about Hokuto no Ken, when they used the actual voice actor of Kenshiro (the legendary Akira Kamiya) for that scene. I always get a giggle from that sort of thing.

Ah yes, Initial L(imo). I still have a hard time believing how in the heck did the old man not wedge the darn Lincoln between the rails of the road while trying to drift. But then again, I am looking far too deep into an Initial D parody, so I should just not do that.

You make my heartbeat increase with each pun, you Space Boy. :p

Could you say I'm a Doctor Love? And watch when Cano gets back on the rocks, he's just going to facepalm at all of this. But what do I know, I'd say don't stop the music... :sly:

I guess this will be the golden age of the thread. A new generation, if you will.

Well, in this era of capitalist anime, it's all about the go go money, so I'm not entirely surprised. Our love is in danger, so we need to be careful. And I think I ran out of Initial D song references (that I know of from memory, at least).

Also, new change of avatar; the person responsible for my reuniting with anime when I got cable television, Meimi Haneoka aka Saint Tail, from Kaitou Saint Tail. Am I the only one who remembers this show around here? Probably yes, but I still enjoy it for some reason. Maybe it's because of its simplicity and the confortable setting of it all...

Gonna watch Shirobako now. I've delayed it for far too long.

Bad things are going to happen if this keeps on going.
G-Man says I'm not at liberty to say what those things are.

Er... The video shows a "unavailable on your country" message. But then again, judging by your reaction, not watching is probably a good thing.

Got this pretty rad wallpaper while playing F/HA. Got a nice 80/90's vibe to it.

Get rekt Shirou. Yeah I still hate your guts.

This coming week's going to be slow on the animoos because it's another round of waiting until the shows begin. Boo!

Finished the 2011 Hunter x Hunter anime.

While I do prefer the 1999 anime for 2/3 featured arcs, 2011 features more arcs which were reletively good (especially the Chimera Ant arc), so it is tough to decide on which is better.

Though I don't know what to do with anime anymore, I still have Yugioh Arc-V but that's only once a week and currently in the 5D's Arc which hasn't been as good as the Miamai Championship arc.

Forgot about that second Special episode of Angel Beats.

In the first, SSS's goal was to get everyone to show off what a blast they're having at school. If you remember, in the world of Angel Beats, if you're having a good time, you get resurrected and leave the afterlife they're currently in. But because they're faking it, they won't be sent off, which is Yurippe's idea to confuse Tenshi. Yurippe is betting on the fact that her confusion will lead to hear seeking assistance from god and discovering god is Yurippe's ultimate goal. Plan fails.

In this episode, Yurippe attempts to get Tenshi to summon god again. This time, her strategy was to get her squad to do bad stuff to each until one of them becomes so evil they transcend into a demonic state. Demons by rule do not exist in this afterlife therefore, by making it happen, this would create a huge obstacle for Tenshi that she would need to summon god for help. Doesn't happen.

Snap. Angel Beats isn't such a good series to me anymore.

Hey they need to make money after all

I think those two episodes were a good break from the serious ambiance throughout the rest of the series.

Just noticed I haven't watch the 2 Hunter x Hunter movies yet 🤬

Guess I'm not done yet :P

So I finished Sakurasou now...

Man that was a good show and the ending was decent.

The show's story actually WENT somewhere and for that I liked it. Along with it's animation and comedy.
I think I'll follow more of Demo D's recommendations too :D

Welp, I'm starting Shirobako tomorrow. My expectations are high for that one.

My drawing challenge to everyone in this thread for the week: If Highschool DxD girls had realistic proportions...... And possibly looks

I thought it was great too but for some reason I just never finished it. I stopped at episode 20 I think.

Finish it I say. Instead of decent, let me rather say that the ending was pleasant.

Who would want that? :sly:

That's why it's a challenge to see if can you make something look good from HSDXD without certain.... 'assets'

That's too easy. Here how about this:

Using only 3 basic shapes, each having a solid colour fill (they do not all have to be the same), arrange it as best as you can to illustrate the spirit/essence of each DxD character.

Or any set of characters in any TV series. That's one to wrack your brain over.
