A bit late but here's my thing for this week. Is this still happening or have we all just sort of stopped?

Dude.....

Your art....

Continue  it's good.

I'd like to encourage this activity more. Even though I suck at drawing anime/manga style

Surely I'm not the only one here finding it particularly rude that a newcomer jumps into a thread and calls some of the regulars weebs...

I find that pretty rude myself. I once got (indirectly) called one after a friend and I were playing GT6, talking about anime.

Otherwise, I don't watch much Animoo, and I smell something in this thread (not mentioning any names)

Dude, if you don't like the smell, either wear a gas mask or bring Febreze (or an Ozone machine), because it's NOT GOING AWAY.

And then finding it ironic the only anime he does watch are probably the most generic and regulate series...
I assumed the weeaboo thing was tongue-in-cheek, primarily because Steins;Gate fans are the very definition of weeaboo.

I dont think a member from 2011 is a "newcommer", and I never called anybody that, look at the original post again if you want to correct yourself.

I'm not really a fan of anything, I dont understand why people automatically think if someone watches a little bit of anime (applies to anything actually) , they're a fan of it, well, no I'm not, nor am I even that interested in Anime, just said what I've watched so far, thats it.

And whats the problem? I never said any names, its like me shouting "DI**HEAD!" out in a crowd of people, then someone turns to me and gets offended as if I was directing it at them, even though I wasn't directing it at anyone, just putting it out there for laughes.

He means to the thread.

Didn't know this thread turned into an investigation in who I was directing it to or what I was directing it at, its not my video, I never mentioned any names, all all I said was that I smell something.

Again, its not my video, I never said any of the things in that video, so why are people questioning me?

I never called anyone anything.

Hinting at something is just taking jabs at us. Discuss anime lol

I'm a bit late on this but the previous page number (2012), signifies the year which aired
One of anime's most recent and popular yandere girls.

Beware the Gasai Yuno...

Yukiteru was still lame though.

If you had no purpose in saying it, there was no need to say it.

If you did it with the intention of just throwing it out there for giggles, then I'd say your timing is off.

I'm not telling you what you to do, this is my perspective of the situation and I'd thought I'd share it to inform you.

How could something smell like weeaboos if there weren't any? That doesn't make any sense. nk4e said my thoughts better honestly.

And as C-ZETA said, I was referring to your newness to the thread, not your join date. This is your first post here, and one of the first things you do is take a jab at us, I did understand it was a tad tounge in cheek but come on dude, it's not really needed.

And you watch anime that you're not a fan of? What's the point in that, sounds counter productive to me. :odd:

I just saw it in good fun, because we are all weebs!

I am weeb, and I am proud!!!

People understand the meaning of a weeaboo. It's used as a term for someone who is obnoxious about their love for Japan, and hideously ignorant regarding the actual pronounciation and culture which they feel they have morphed into, abandoning their true culture. Now days it's just used for people that have a seeming interest in anime, and thrown around as much as girls claiming to be nerds because they wear glasses, etc.

I'm not offended, but I am sick of the term being used for people that aren't the actual meaning of it. My Japanese learning friends often seriously called me a weeaboo because I enjoyed anime, and wanted to go to Japan. I was learning Japanese in my own time during then and was often laughed at when screwing up the pronounciation. I chose not to learn it at school because after prior experience with learning languages at school is the I take too long to learn the content in time before we move on to the next. I didn't want to reduce my chances to pass at school so I chose more safer subjects.

Sorry for that tangent, but yeah.

Weeaboo has never been a term I've liked, because as with most deragratory terms used to refer to a fanbase like it, starts out referring to only the extremists, but eventually becomes used to refer to the general populance, which is generally fairly far from the original meaning. Most of us here are fairly far from that original meaning, as @SVX stated earlier.

^ The terminology undeniably exists like it or not.

It's not a simple matter of just stating "watching anime =/= being a weeaboo".

It's what that one individuals decides to do after getting into the class of cartoons that can determine whether he/she is by definition a weeaboo. I have a very good feeling none of us here are one based on the way we speak, discuss, mingle, etc.. I can say this because I do in fact know one person IRL who is more closer to being a weeaboo than anyone here.

We create definitions and terminologies by nature of socializing. That's not to say it's necessarily socially acceptable to keep doing it, but it does say it would be unreasonable to think it doesn't happen.

Anyway, if anyone is done with the subject, please watch Shokugeki no Soma. Episode 18 was so engaging my mouth started to water at the thought of the karaage they made.

Nothing wrong with wanting to learn Japanese. Same thing if you watched a foreign documentary or any other foreign media, and suddenly you were inspired to learn their language. Though the problem with your friends is their perception of anime. Seeing anime and thinking of stigmas like ecchi and the sort just sparks the "weeaboo" paradigm. Of course you're not offended by it, and you really shouldn't. These days it's more of a joke that's being hammered like a meme. I'm not sure about a real weeaboo though and I'm sure @AOS can vouch.

1. You're not a fan of anything? Then why are you here? Like others said, if you have nothing to discuss about anime, manga, games, etc. (especially all that anime you listed) then you're just wasting our time, and yours.

2. Just for a laugh, eh? Sorry, it wasn't funny.
