I just realized there's an anime convention pretty local to where I live next week... pretty tempted to make that waifu trashbin thing.

I mucho dislike Clannad. Dislike the character design, dislike characters, dislike that an entire season is used to build up suspense, etc. etc.

Oh. That's a shame, it's among my favorites. But, everyone has different tastes of course. Was caught off guard with this one.

Welcome to the trash bin 👍

Doesn't really help I have friends going BEST ANIME EVER, either.

Even though I was exactly like that with every decent anime I watched...

Clannad is pretty bad.

The first season is a complete waste of time. The second season was surprisingly good, almost great even... until they completely ruined it with that garbage "ending". My advice is to watch only After Story, and stop a few episodes short. Or better yet, skip Clannad entirely and find something more worthwhile.

Wasn't really planning to watch it until I had watched everything on my watch list.

Which is about fifty animes.

Well, if you want a great romance anime, here's some way better options:
His and Her Circumstances
Emma: A Victorian Romance
5 Centimeters Per Second+
The Garden of Words+
Kids on the Slope*
The Girl Who Leapt Through Time*+
Summer Wars*+
Cowboy Bebop*

The ones with asterisks aren't strictly romance, but do have plot(s) featuring romance elements. The ones with plus signs are movies so they're pretty quick to watch.

^ May I add: Boys Over Flowers & Fruits Basket.

I've been meaning to watch Fruits Basket, though I can't say I've ever even heard of Boys Over Flowers.

^ I've watched some BOF up until ep.8, it had a good chemistry between characters. And if you ask any K-Pop Drama fan they know it pretty well (simply because there was a live action version that is stupid popular in Asia).

Have you guys ever thought bout straying away from anime?

As in, stop watching anime?

Anime is a medium. And as long as good stories are still being told with it, I don't see any reason to "stray away".

I don't devour anime quite as much as I did when I was first getting into it, but that's simply because I've eaten a lot of the low-hanging fruit... the classics, the obvious recommendations, the things that appeal particularly strongly to my interests, etc. But I've still got a backlog of anime I'm working my way through and there's still new stuff coming out that piques my interest. Actually, just today I was looking up
Mamoru Hosoda to see if he had any new movies in the works, and I found out that he does... and in fact, it hits theaters in Japan tomorrow.

That being said, I have been watching more live-action stuff lately... mainly movies. But I attribute this primarily to the fact that there's WAAAAY more live-action stuff than there is anime. The whole entire world produces live-action films, whereas only Japan produces "anime".

As a result, applying my 90% crap 10% good rule of thumb, there's a lot more good movies out there than there are anime. And I was neglecting live-action stuff while I was in my anime craze, so now I'm trying to catch up a bit to balance things out. But I still watch anime... watched some last night, and will probably watch some this evening before I go to bed.

Not completely, but I have decreased the number of shows I watch per season due to more important things in life. I can't see myself completely straying away. I've met some cool people because of it. Ever want to spark a conversation in a quite room? Talk about some anime.

I haven't watched a new episode of anime in around a month, but mainly that's because my interest has temporarily been taken up with reading manga for the meantime. I am planning to finally finish the last four episodes of Kuroko no Basuke tonight though... needs to be done sooner or later.
