Happy to dark, eh... closest I can think of is something from the Monogatari series, perhaps. I'm currently watching Nekomonogatari: Kuro and it seems to sorta fit the bill, but it's only four episodes long.

Bakemonogatari starts off cheerful in each arc and then goes to some horrible twist, so I'd recommend that.

Lets make a headcount on who is going today.

I would be up for this.
Does anyone know any good anime, that start of as light hearten happy shows but get a sudden drastic dark turn later on in the series?
I guess Madoka Magica fits the bill kind of well.

Myself; Yourself has really nice character backstories and doesn't really hold back for children, so to say. I don't mean that it's an 18+ affair but their pasts are definitely memories they want to leave behind. Except for Aoi.

Has anybody watched Insufficient Direction? I get the feeling you Evangelion scrubs need to see it.

(it's about hideaki anno and his wife, apparently)

I'm guessing these are the animes I'm drawn into due to my love for Yugioh ARC-V and Hunter x Hunter.

I'd say Steins;Gate, and Angel Beats and Clannad for 'The Feels' kind of dark turn (depressing more like).

Finally finished off the Kuroko no Basuke series a few days ago. Third season kept up with the good quality which had preceded it very well - even though the games were as drawn out as ever with the last game taking up multiple episodes. I particularly enjoyed the spotlight on Akashi with his revolutions as a person and player, and found the Teiko flashback genuinely interesting. All in all I would recommend it to people who are a fan of sports/basketball but I don't think I would stretch to a general viewer base as I think the constant basketball jargon would be boring, plus the connection to the characters' passion for basketball would be somewhat weak.

Seeing as I had finished up Kuroko I decided to return back to the Monogatari series, starting off with Nekomonogatari: Kuro. It's interesting, but I don't think you can have an anime that features nearly getting murdered by your sister and fondling that same sister's breasts not interesting. Cinematography and storytelling is as great as usual.

I've taken to watching to watching anime on my phone with the expense of screensize for being able to render higher quality videos, and so far there's not been a series more worth it than the Monogatari series. So, so gorgeous.

In terms of (abstract?) visual fidelity no studio can even come close to SHAFT.

I've been lazy with watching anime lately. Been out doing normal people things so I haven't seen the latest episodes of even the things I like.

I've said it once and I'll say it again.

FLCL don't make no damn sense:boggled:

Twas fun though. Finished watching it now and took to the forums to get a good explanation of the story. Well I kinda get most of it now. I'll probably end up rewatching it soon since it's short.

I also saw Plastic Nee-San which was really random but I got a chuckle or 2.
I think I'll save Nichijou until my varsity holidays. Gotta save the special ones for a good occasion.

Lastly, I can kinda see that drawing is still a thing in this thread. A little thing. Post up when you can? :D
