So they hurt GTO too? Man, that is crap. I really have heard from a couple people it is alright. Now it sounds like to me that they messed it living up to it's full potential. How lame!
 
tokyo pop = euphenism for horrible english dubbing change everything to it's "western" crap. Manga so vile I wouldn't even give it to poor children who cannot afford books and are trying to learn how to read.
 
vash: do a FORUM search for "tokyopop" as a keyword here on the forums and see what comes up. :sick: sort it all out as you see fit (i'm incredibly biased :D)
ditto on GTO, it really is an incredible story, almost timeless and just as exciting. now its just `bubblegum` cartoon material in the states.

Manga so vile I wouldn't even give it to poor children who cannot afford books and are trying to learn how to read.

Nah.
Not to me.

I would say it is more that the world is begining to get more exposure to anime and in-turn the world gets to see more crappy anime to compliment the good anime (usually in a 2 to 1 ratio :crazy: ).

Just my view though. :D
 
Well I just look at the new series coming out of japan and I see a lot less attention to detail in the animation.. each of the stories seem like the same old crap now. I haven't seen any Akira-like amazing flicks or anything. Maybe when I was 10 I could like this crap like Naruto but for instance compare gunsmith cats with vandread.. UGH!

yes! glad to see i'm not the only one who thinks this! What gets me more is the really crappy series that grabs everyones attention and now it;'s like the greatest thing since pokemon! *cough* naruto, inu-blah, etc etc*
 
Well I have always kind of thought the same thing, though have not really seen that much of it with anime. But it is just like the video game industry, in that, as it grows, the more and more crap :yuck: comes out and the less and less good material comes out 👎. The industry looks to make the next big hit, instead of just making quality material. Rarely do I buy anything from the gaming industry, unless I have just heard many, many good reviews of the stuff. Well at least other than Halo 2, which I already have reserved. :D And now, I find it hard to buy anything anime, unless I have actually heard good things about it. But I have bought the first volumes of Gundam Seed and Inu Yasha mange to give both of the series' a chance. Though I have not gotten around to reading either of them yet . . . maybe I should get around to it. :dopey:
 
video games have always been like that tho, back in the laye 80's hundreds of video companies were started and as a result almost all the games produced were crap. As for anime i've become very picky, i generally avoid genres i dont like, there are afew exceptions. And it has to be asthetically pleasing you know? And from there if I don't find it having a good story I don't bother. Back to games, I find ps2 has way more quality games than xbox and game cube. I really hate how people say xbox is the greatest thig ever and that it has the best games. no it doesn;'t have th ebest games, and those who bash ps because it has lower gfx, pfft, realize xbox came out like 2 years after ps2....

Alright, that's it... sorry all, but this whole thing about every thing's getting worse, all anime shown to the average public is crap, and only stuff I'm into is good.... blah blah blah... It's all crap.

I mean, I've been watching anime and cartoons since I was a tiny little kid, I don't need a bunch of other people to tell me what is good or bad. (I'm 23 as of july, been watching cartoons and "anime" since way way back, just like all of you. )

When I watch dozens of episodes where an amazing love story develops throughout the course of a creative and original adventure, I like it. Does that mean I'm some kind of sell out newb? Hell no!

You want to talk about sell out newb fanboy crap...

altough I don't support Kent (BTW, congrats! how in the hell you became a supermod? :odd: ) in this whole thing, because, as subjective as an opinion might be, I won't call you a nooob or a fanboy of the latest craze because you watch inu yasha or naruto, but I think those two are some of the lamest shows I have ever seen. what I agree with you on is the Initial D stuff. why, if it has cars and is about drifting it doesnt count? lame. I'll never get tired of dissing that piece of ****, but as that, I wont ever get tired of saying that Inu Yasha and naruto are lame, because they are IMO. now, if someone does like them, fine! hell, even some inuyasha episodes are decent (naruto isnt -_-) and what if it is the latest craze? EVA was THE craze and has always been, and everyones seen it and recognize its a good series. Same for, say, Akira. now, time will tell if things like naruto or Inu-yiackshia will become classics like those (I really dont think so) and even if I hate bandwagons (like, oh, drifting) I don't see anything bad about the series per sé.

as I dont see anything bad in, say, how the Dorifto cars look, but in what they do.
 
God I love Evangelion..(I can almost remember when it first came out!! man those were the days) if I could ever find a German/Japanese girl (Langely) I would be like 'Where do I sign?' I hope we will get some high quality series in the future.. unfortunatly it is harder to make a good animation than a good videogame these days so we see alot less good pieces of animation than we do games. Honestly I have abandoned anime for the last year and a half. (I will admit I like the premise of Pokemon though (as a kids show)) Blah, I started liking mecha, then moved to traditional stuff about samurai when I went through my 'kurosawa love phase' then I watched more action/human stuff like gunsmith cats then MAPS came out.. and power dolls (ne1 know those 2?) I really fell in love with ADV.. they brought all of my favorites..and still do. (Same with Gainax..until recently) Now I don't know.. hopefully the true artists can have a revival.
 
to call me a fan boy because i like initial d is ****. First of all i've been watching since tyhe first ep was released, it was where i found my passion for cars. So i didn't just follow a craze as you accused me , and i didn't acuse you of being a fan boy, i'm acussing inyu of being one of the basic shows that come out and the masses follow. It's not my show, i dont care if you hate me for it, just live with it i guess. Happy moding.

I only went so far as to remind you that Initial D was a show you liked and made a point of enjoying in this thread.

Everyone is allowed their opinions, but shouldn't this thread be about promoting and enjoying anime?
