What does everyone think of Big O? I never have gotten around to watching all of the series. The reason I am wondering is because I happened to see some of it is for sale at Best Buy, and not to mention pretty cheap for anime. Basically what I am getting at, is it worth buying or not?

No.

Not in my opinion.
Not at all.

Infact, I didn't like big O when it first came out, then it went off the air and I was just fine with that...
Turns out that the japanese felt the same and big O was dooomed... however, over time the Americans started to take note of the show and for some reason the producers thought it would be a good idea to make a second season.

Why?
I have no clue...
Maybe to make the first season look good, maybe to try and improve the faults of the first season.
I have no clue what their goal was, but to me it all ended up as one big mess of an anime.

I know why. Because they have to pay to get these shows on the air. Since no one in Japan wants it, the show gets cheap, and broadcasters at time warner pick it up.

Seito, so I am guessing you agree with GoKents on the matter of Big O? And what does everyone else think, so that I may get a more broad basis of opinions on the series?

I thought the first few episodes of Big O were good, extremely unique and stylish. Though, the second season is not very good and seems to be rushed to end the story. I have yet to see the last episode. :(

I mean the thing about Big O is, I have seen most of the first season. There when CTN was showing it every night for a while, I watched it and saw probably the first eight episodes; but then I think they took it off air, so they could show the second season and I stopped watching it because I hated the one week an episode thing. It is just I have always wondered how the series would end and how the story would unfold.

i was enjoying the first episode until i saw the robot design. nope, not for me, but i think the series has potential, people just dont like it cause it isn't the standard anime style....

Actually, for me it was the story that ruined it.

The mechs weren't good in my opinion either.

However, the story was full of that "who are we, what good are our memories, why are we here, what's the point to this life, can we live this life without our past, etc, etc"...
All that crap gets old, especially with a translation gap for dubbing and a pace that is fit for slugs to keep up with. 👎

Once again, my say...

But then again, I'm just about the only person in here who thinks inu yasha is an excellent show.
So who knows :indiff:

:D

Well the story of what I have seen is very slow, but it is that story that makes me want to know how the series ends. There are so many questions not answered and that makes me wonder if they answer them or not. Now I definitely could see how the story would suck if not very many of the questions were answered.

The mechs did not really bother too much, other than they are somewhat goofy looking. Though in the series, they hold a considerable amount of power or so it seems.

Well I may end up liking Inu Yasha and I may not, maybe if CTN would start the series from Episode #1 and show it at least, if not more, than once a week as it is now. If they were to do this, I could follow the series and start to be able to form an opinion of it.

I wish I had atleast CTN :guilty: ......

But the reruns just get annoying!! :ouch: I mean can't they go through the whole thing.. while they do rereuns at a different time!!!!! Is this just a U.S. thing? Doing reruns over and over and over and over and over and over...... Sheesh. I think I know all most all the Simpsons shows cause I remember watching one at least 5 times!!!!!!! I remember they did,t do that in Korea nor Japan.....

BTW... I think like any other media... Anime also has a few jems from the many that were made...(Damn, most of them want to make easy money by dumping a dozen chicks into a cartoon... Forget it..) Well, I can't wait for the next Ghost in the Shell movie(Innocence)... Though I didn't see the TV stand alone complex series... How is that by the way?

Yes it is the same. New episodes take forever to come out, especially with anime. They will bring new episodes, show the, and start over with them; this leaves us to wait, yet again, for new episodes to come out.

Is Cybord 009 worth watching? I just so happen to be watching it right now on CTN. I don't even know when it is on any more. I think the reason I never watched it before was because at the time I was always busy doing something.

009 wasn't good.

At times I did think it was bad.

Thing is, there were occassional moments where I said, hey, that's ok.

Not much more than "ok" at its best. :indiff:

I could never really get past the art style or the character design.
Only 009's super speed ability was OK, other than that one element I didn't like any of the series.

Oh well.
Just another opinion .
But hey, atleast you know there will probably be something better on another channel. ;)
Or maybe not. :odd:

Okay.. The retro trend has bloomed for a second but, 009 is just :yuck: ...
I watched one show from my cousin's house and we couldn't watch the whole show cause it was awful..
Oh, yeah speaking of retro... does anybody watch Atom (oops, Astroboy...) on Fox? I don't know when its on and everything else is crap so I don't bother to even look for it...... I wonder if, at least, that was worth the remake..
