i know which character vash is talking about its a guy, hes just gay. and i also thought it was a chick like the first 3 episodes, then i noticed they refered to him with male words like he, him, etc...

Finally someone knows who I am talking about. I always had thought I heard to the character as a he, though I was still confused. The voice really threw me. The gender of SHIPPO was NEVER in question. The character I was talking about is a member of the Seven Evil People (I forgot what they were refered to as).

I guess from a search some of you have seen Ex-Driver. 👍 Soooo much better than Initial D but then again this anime is weird in typical Japanese fashion.

Has anyone seen Appleseed? Went over to a friends house today and we watched it. Great movie. It still looks hand drawn even though its all CG. 👍

Also, The Cat Returns, anyone seen it? We also watched that today and though it was great. Another great Ghibli/Miyazaki film. 👍

:lol: oh god! I was just going to post the same thing! It kicked some serious arse! :eek::drool: It had flavors of the Animatrix, Killzone and Mechwarrior all rolled into one!

Seen a promo clip of it on a DVD I got from AX...

Looked pretty neat... I'm thinking of getting the dvd...

Cel shaded stuff look good when they are done properly I suppose~
 
speaking of AX (belated entry) anyone here go? i had spent the entire time tending a table in artist alley and missed just aboot the rest of the stuff.
 
Appleseed looks good, I'm going to check it out. I hope it's widescreen and... well, 17+ :D
 
Just letting you guys know that Escaflowne, the movie, will be on AS on Saturday night.

I used to watch the TV series on Fox on Saturday mornings until they canned it half way through.
 
Only one mech battle? Pttth, you would think Sunrise would want more than one.

Other then that, it was a pretty good movie. The animation was top quality.
 
Hi guys just wanted to know your opinion on the Movie Based on the Comic Appleseed. It has just been released today here in the uk on DVD and ive bought it, i tend to do this alot with movies i haven't seen or just seen trailers of :dopey: . Im going to watch it tonight i will tell ya what i think tommorow. :nervous:

Well i watched it last night and i thought it was lacking in the facial animation part, but this is due to the use of a toon shader and the way it renders light and such it didn't leave room for much expression on the faces of the characters, as far as the look of the film goes i think they did a pretty good job considering they used a realistic look for the backgrounds and some of the artillary and a toon shader for the rest. i did spot some crappy parts in the graphics uded, like when the mobile fortress is walking through the sea/river, the water acts all strange and dosnt look good at all, but particle effects look great, and the motion capture for the body movments adds a freaky realness to motions of the characters in parts.

The story is kept close to the original comic (i have read parts of the graphic novel version).

The voice acting for the English and Japanese soundtracks are good, although i prefer to watch Animations with thier original sound tracks (so this been Japanese), this leads me to the music used in the film, although i like the Boom Boom satalites (most western people will recognise them from the Ridge Racer 5 sound track), i didnt like them in this film, also haveing such a lame DJ as Paul Oakenfold as one of the contributng artists too made the music become almost unbareable, then if have him wasn't bad enough they have also included Bassment Jaxx too who IMO (insert profanaty here) should not be alowed to make music.

Overall the film was good, if you can get past the music then its a good movie, and im glad i own it.

I watched it and loved the style. I was disappointed in the lack of background in some ways (for characters that is) and it took me a long time to realize that there was any sort of dissent outside of the main city. It only hints at it really.

The characters were cool and the plot was fairly coherent, but it seems rushed in some places. However, you probably won't notice it because you'll be sucked into the graphic style in the movie. It's simply amazing and quite possibly the best thing about the movie. That's not to say the acting is bad--quite the opposite in fact--or anything like that; it's simply that they took a LOT of time working on the graphical style using a computer animated style rather than hand-drawn, computer-reworked animation.

In all, a pretty sweet movie if you like action/sci-fi anime or sci-fi in general.

Ha, I went to see my parents and my dad had just got it.

Well at least this time around they managed to sort of follow the mangas plot, unlike the old 80's Appleseed movie.
 
I thought it was great.

Needless to say I felt it was lacking ''adult situations.'' While it isnt detrimental, but I do enjoy some profanity, gore, and nudity. Could have used more of all three. But certainly doesnt take away from the film. :)
 
Well I just came across this thread - I have to tell you - i'm one of the biggest Naruto fan ever.

My favorite characters are Naruto, Shikamaru, and Garaa.

As some of you may know - Naruto came to Cartoon Network. I must say after watching the first 3 episodes - the dub version sucks.
