Yo Walter, if you don't want to spend the cash on a nice DSLR, get one of these bad boys (the GF3 is out also). Inexpensive and produces beautiful pictures. Get a 50mm prime to go with it and you are set! My friend got one of these before he got his 60D and this little Panasonic is fantastic. I am getting one myself in February.

Looks nice, but it's $400. At that point, I think I'd rather just spend the extra few hundred to get a DSLR.

Let's see about this 60D though... $1000, sans lens. Hmm... maybe. :lol:

Perhaps it'd be a bit overkill, but as I've previously demonstrated with the purchase of my 9 TB RAID array, I'm often willing to pay for overkill if it means that I save money in the long run by not having to upgrade from something I've outgrown. The question is whether my interest in photography will grow enough to have a genuine use for a $1000+ DSLR. :p

The 60D is great. If you've got a little more money, upgrade to the 7D. I might go ahead and get a T3i instead of the GF2 because it's only a little bit more. We'll see. Playing with DSLRs all the time, I don't know if I want to come home to a TF2 :lol:, though it is a great little camera and very cheap.


AOS-, before you start, I'll also be taking pictures of some of my figures when I get the camera so this is related. :p

Mandarake is an auction place. There are mainly 3 stores that list things for sale, and they mostly post stuff that are damaged or opened which explains their prices. It's a hit or miss with this place since there's so many listings each day, so it isn't kept up to date on stock status and shipping speed in very inconsistent. Even so, I'll browse it once in a while for cheap stuff but it's hard to find anything in non-damaged condition. I'm a neat-o freak, my BRS box came damaged but fortunately it was barely noticeably.

These kinds of sigs grind my gears..... It's a character, pasted on a C4D/abstract image; the two never get along, almost never looks good to my eyes.

The composition sucks because Kyoko is all on her own 8/10th of the page... All that space on the left is empty so there is a huge visual imbalance. There's no visually appealing focal point, thus it's not very exciting to look at.
I personally don't like the canvas ratio, and the size is ridiculously huge for a sig. My methodology for making sigs is "If I don't need to see it to understand it, don't include it." Maybe you're adding something on the left, I don't know, keep working on it more.... and please don't use some mismatching font and apply stupid blending options on it. That's so tacky and photoshop newbs do it all the time.

On a more positive note, I'm glad someone else called it out first. Good job, salanos 👍

Only thing I don't like about it is the red behind her is the same as the red she's wearing. Also the weird design thing on the rest of it. This is 2012, not 1999. Also if you're going to use a picture of her holding her weapon, we should at least see more of the weapon. It's also kind of big. IMO.

Yeah bro, the resolution was all wrong. I think I should do it again. Still struggling to think of a good background though (and even worse, the special effects stuff). Thanks for your words by the way.
 
Don't get caught up in special effects....that's what most people do and it bogs down to filtering the hell out of C4Ds.

Skimming along tutorials as references doesn't seem like it... but yeah I'll try to be vigilant about that. 👍
 
Don't get caught up with special effects and thinking too long and hard about BGs... remember that the subject matter is most important so if the backdrop starts getting too much attention, the whole thing lacks direction and becomes difficult to read.

Let me introduce you to better graphic design:

Instead of showing her entire body, you can crop out most of it and we can still tell it's Kyoko,
 
Hmm, nice. Looks exactly like the kind of signatures I was going for before I gave up on a certain project and start imitating what my classmate usually do.

I'll PM you some examples of his works if you want to see for yourself. Trust me, his edits are very, errr, "in-depth".

They're over-rated when you're above the sea, but not if you're above land. I like to see what's beneath me. It makes me feel like God (if he actually existed).
