holy crap, this thread is big enough to be its own forum...

Is dragon ball Z considered anime? Because then I can add to the thread. If it doesn't then I am afraid I am a little out of place.

How are we still on this page?

We are at arm

Yep, you can only join if your power level is over 9000.

There's a bigger thread out there. Two actually. One of which is locked.

DBZ is an anime, but you'll be encouraged to watch other shows... to open your mind to what's out there. You don't have to, but unless you do, there isn't much to be spoken of.

What about Sakurasou and Tonari no Kaibutsu-kun? I notice that they're not on your list, and they're probably the best shows of the season IMO. I don't know how you'll feel about Sakurasou, but Tonari no Kaibutsu-kun is very much in the vein of "Say I love You," but I think it's the better show.
I need to check those two out, but it'll have to wait until January as I can't really fit in any more shows right now.

K 6: Oh look, a plot is finally beginning to surface...or not. Next episode preview shows Neko running around naked, oh joy, more stupid fanservice...

Magi 5: This show is beginning to fall apart, damn you pacing. As I heard, with just the first 3 episodes, they covered 17 chapters as they're trying to cover just about everything (150+ chapters) in the 26 episodes they're given... Please don't be another Black Cat.

Psycho-Pass 5: Do you want to be good again? The last couple of minutes are hinting towards going further into Kogami's backstory. Hopefully it happens, that's one thing this show has really struggled with, good backstory. We need more on all the main characters.

Almost done with Black Lagoon: The Second Barrage, and it's beginning to fall apart a bit with the final couple of episodes, sigh.

Seems the Reborn! manga has now truly ended. After more than 8 years, 409 chapters, and 42 volumes, it has come to an end. Heard things were rushed a bit, and that the ending is kind of open. I wonder if this meant that Amano wanted to continue the story further, but WSJ forced her to end it?
http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/news/2012-11-07/reborn-manga-to-end-in-weekly-shonen-jump-on-monday

The series had been ranking low in the reader surveys for a while IIRC, but it did great in graphic novel sales (Another Psyren case?). Last year it placed 17th for best-selling manga of 2011.
http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/news/2011-11-30/top-selling-manga-in-japan-by-series/2011

Anyway, whenever Amano's next series begins, definitely going to check that out on day 1. I really wonder what she has in store.

:0 dude specially you will love its style and music use. Aesthetically the thing is awesome You should really get into it.

JoJo is so awesome. I just watched 30 seconds of the 6th episode and protag's got some deadly attack moves.

"Turquoise Blue Overdrive!!!!"

"I need to get a clean punch in, or my sunlight ripple won't hit him!"

Up to 12 on SC. Amazing.
Strong feeling that the Samurai who smells of sunflowers is her father.

Robotics;Notes 5: This show is now really starting to become Steins;Gatey, yes!!

Worst feelings: When you can't find the awesome ED at all on YouTube because it gets removed that fast. It's the best ED of the season dammit!:grumpy:

You'd better be right. You said Psycho-Pass is turning bad, but it hasn't done anything wrong.

Anyway, I found this multi-track drifting game video...it's all talk for the most part but wicked stuff happens so just skip to the outline times: Battle starts at 5:10

Craziness at 13:30, 19:30 for comeback, 20:40 for the grand finish

-> Something to share, got it from an anime group in FB:

The other BRS

What... did I just see?

What Robotics:Notes just introduced is NASA may be an enemy of the world, by keeping secret things they found when they were surveying the sun in 2000. The world could very well end because of stuff happening with the sun. Odd weather is happening everywhere.

It reminds me of the things we found out in Steins;Gate revolving around time-travel, and CERN.

As for PP, one of the issues Psycho-Pass has had is the lack of backstory for the main characters (We have had some, but it's not all that much, and really not the best. Good backstory is not an easy thing to do.), and the very episodic structure. It's trying too hard to be like Gits:SAC when that show does episodic cases, which is pretty much where it gets much of its inspiration from.

Then there is the main girl, she has not done a whole lot. It reminds me of Saki from Eden of the East, she didn't have all that much purpose now that I think about it (Which is one thing that led to me knocking my rating for Eden of the East down from a 10/10 to a 9/10). They almost always stand there, just supporting the other characters every once in a while.

Also let's not forget the issue of needing to blast everyone to smithereens. Why not a simple bullet? Is it gore for the sake of gore?

I do appreciate though what the final moments of episode 5 did though. It's showing signs they may finally will tackle the backstory issue the show has had pretty much all along.

Unfortunately there are still next to no signs (So far, just the guy who was kinda pulling the strings in the latest case) of them getting out of this episodic structure, which just isn't working very well for this show. Have a case, solve it, done, hardly any character development, or going into more on this (illogical) society, like how it came to be.

Don't get me wrong, I don't find the show bad, I do like it (Not all that much, but I would like to buy it whenever it comes out on DVD/BD), it does try a bit, and has very interesting moral issues like on the death penalty. It's just that it's struggling right now.

Stop complaining about the lack of backstory. There's only been 5 episodes and you're getting annoying with that.

I'm only on episode 2, so thanks for spoiling it.

Little Busters, with the end of Komari's arc with episode 6, my faith has been restored. Pacing for Komari's arc seemed a bit slow, but that's just how it was in the game.

Eureka Seven, I'm like 30 episodes in, and I feel that there were only 3 high points in the story. It's not consistently interesting, Anemone and Dominic barely has any presence, and it still isn't quite clear on why the government is after you-know-who.

For half the series being over, not much is revealed, nor has it been as interesting as FMA:B or Code Geass.

Next there'll be an anime that says the UN is run by a clique of religious psychos intent on ending life as we know it...oh wait, that already exists. ;)

You can have it early on...

Also backstory is one of the things I look at the most when it comes to the characters, so it's something I can't really help. You need that in a show like this, it's not like a SOL comedy where it's not really necessary.

Karma.

If he did he wouldn't be himself. Remember he stars giving MAL grades to a series after he watched ONE episode? That should explain enough.

However that score can change as I watch more episodes, and can analyze it more. Desert Punk for example already went from a 5/10 to a 4/10. Such a boring and plain bad show. The plot, where is it? Oh wait, it's about boring boob humor, and random crap that does not really matter.

No! It doesn not seem legit! :p

It's getting there. Not every story needs to show the backstory right away, if at all...we already know the place is set in the future where crime is heavily monitored and policing is much stricter thant what we have in current day. That's the base of the show for the most part, and I know you didn't miss the last bit of ep5 which is a clear indicator we're going to learn about the past soon enough, just like you said later in your post..

Because they wanted to show off an idea of a new weapon. Duh.

Episode 0; WHERE'S THE HISTORY? HOW DO THEY KNOW EACH OTHER?

Yes, but one can only wonder with how the show still is following that very episodic formula (To be honest, before the show aired, I was wondering how they could make a premise like this go far), and seems like it's not going to break it anytime soon. This is not Mushishi.

We'll see on Thursday whether or not they'll fully tackle the backstory issue, but I'm not going to get my hopes up too much.

Yes, because we still need to blast everyone to smithereens and leave a bloody mess...
