love that song

It's a great song. My mind is blown on all of the synth-era albums. One thing I've noticed is that Maiden has something for everyone, be it synth, heavy metal, thrash metal, plain old acoustic and prog.

I can't say I find them particularly thrashy. But you are right, they cover a wide spectrum. The self-titled album is very punky, something I'm not quite keen on, but somehow very cool.

They experimented with Thrash in Fear of the Dark. Be Quick or Dead is a good example.

I wouldn't quite consider that thrash, but it's borderline thrash.

Keep in mind though, Steve Harris refuses to call their first album punk. Not even slightly punk-influenced.

True, but there are very few songs where it is predominantly thrashy.

I think of Fear more in terms of Bruce's attempt to change his vocal style.

But it still sounds punky to me.

I think it's more to do with Di'Anno's Vocals..

This song is just brilliant. If I'm in a bit of a slump, mentally, this is constantly blasting out of my speakers.

Top 30 Most Played
Note: Because Somewhere Back In Time was my first album and is included in this list, there are some duplicates. e.g. Run To The Hills has 288+35 plays, which equals 323 overall

Just got the five albums I purchesed from Amazon.ca :) I'm happy that when they say 4-7 business days, they mean 4 business days :) What I've heard so far is great :) I've now got all their albums except Dance of Death, which I hope to get soon :)

Note: I apologize for my over usage of the term ":)", I'm just happy I got more Iron Maiden :)

Why is it that everyone always has Run to the Hills at the top? For me it would be something else. Maybe Starblind or Infinite Dreams.

Guess what I was listening to as I read that...

Show us your top 30 then, if you can.

If someone can work out how to get one on Media Player. Because I don't use iTunes. (I'm on Win 7 and not XP, I know XP could show)

I've got no idea. I haven't used WMP since I last had a computer with Windows XP.

And Run To The Hills is #1 because it's the song that got me into Maiden. A song I would play over and over before I ever started buying their albums.

Despite what I say about the FOTD and NPFTD albums, the song that got me into Maiden was actually Be Quick or be Dead. That was the first song I saw as a favourite. That was 8 years ago. Then as time has gone on I've become more musically knowledgeable and I now prefer the more complex side of Maiden displayed in the last decade or so. (Pretty much The X Factor onwards)

I like their 2000s stuff, Brave New World and The Final Frontier are very good albums, but the 1980s stuff is just outstanding. Short, sharp bursts of musical ecstacy.

Number Of The Beast right through to Seventh Son Of A Seventh Son was a string of absolutely brilliant albums.

Very true.

The first song I remember that got me hooked on Maiden was Man on the Edge. And then I discovered The Number of the Beast..

The Trooper introduced me and Hallowed be thy name got me hooked

Running looooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooow...

BA-DA-DAM, BA-DA-DAM!

I held the keys down for the duration of those notes. It shouldn't be possible to sing. But somehow, he does it.

My dad cranked Live After Death and Fear of the Dark a lot when I was younger...Live After Death's Hallowed Be Thy Name, Flight of Icarus, Aces High, Running Free (8 minute version), and The Trooper were my favorites. Fear of the Dark the only songs I can remember hearing was From Here to Eternity, Be Quick or Be Dead, Judas Be My Guide and Fear of the Dark. Once I listened to both albums again later on I was like OH I REMEMBER THIS SONG when I listened to Live After Death. Bruce's voice is so different in FOTD I thought it was another band and the same thing happened, I REMEMBER THIS and THIS IS IRON MAIDEN???!?!?!?!?!? Listened to both on cassette. Then I got Guitar Hero 3 and played Number of the Beast NON-STOP. The Trooper still remains one of my all-time favorites.

Running silent, Running deep, we are your final prayer,
Warriors in secret sleep, a merchantman's nightmare,
A silent death lies waiting, for all of you below,
Running silent, Running deep, sink into your final sleep

You, like, can't remember this song, man? Man, what is, like, up with you? You've changed.

*Puts on studded wristband and punches wall*

I'm like, gonna listen to NPFTD and, like, pretend I never knew you, man!

Better watch out...
