I challenge you to sing the 'running low' bits from Hallowed Be Thy Name.

I can keep up with the first one, but the second one is impossible. I only manage midway through it, without even attempting to scream YEAH! at the end.

That's odd. Because the second one is shorter and easier.

I don't have a video camera that works though. I can do it, but my voice is TERRIBLE. I can do that last note in Painkiller too. Just barely.

 But the one in Painkiller goes on forever! Bet it doesn't sound very good. :sly:

About the "Running low" notes. I can't do it, but mainly because I put power in the voice to make it sound a little better (note I say a little). You may think, "But there isn't really any power in that." But you'd be surprised.

Hee heee heeeee.

Me and my bud have competitions to see who can do the last note to Painkiller all the time. XD

Then I will get the ball rolling with this awful shambles. I wasn't really putting effort in because it's 1am here. But I don't know why my voice fades while holding the notes.

It's fun to embarrass yourself.

You're not doing a good job of embarrassing yourself. I can't watch the video because it's private.

👍

Me and my friend preformed that song at a small Guitar Christmas Concert. I was going to sing the song aswell as play my guitar (I was Dave Murray[on my strat]) however the orginisers forgot I was singing and didn't have any microphones set-up so we just played it without lyrics. Because of this, everyone thought that the song was awesome.

Love your reasoning as to why they thought it was awesome.

And again, good going Mazdaprice for doing the length. I can't go the full thing if I try and display power (and vibrato). Usually there's no point powering it because I still sound weak. :indiff: I'm going to give it a full go though at some point within the next week. (If I remember)

That, sir, is a great effort, however I shall match it later on. :sly:

Is it just me, or is The Talisman an amazing song.

To be honest it's nowhere near as good as say... Starblind, or The Man who Would be King, or When the Wild Wind Blows. Which for me are the best three of the album.

I used to think that but it got stuck on repeat about a week ago, and now I just can't stop listening to it, it's fantastic! Maybe it's just me though...

Well, uh, no it's not as good as that. Still...

The Talisman and Isle of Avalon are still great songs. Don't get me wrong. Just personally they don't fit the bill of epic songs. They don't have the atmospheric feel or the sound a long song like that needs.

YEAH!

As for which songs I like on The Final Frontier, I'd have to say all of them but the strongest ones I think were Starblind, When The Wild Wind Blows, The Alchemist, El Dorado, Coming Home and Satellite 15...The Final Fontier. The whole album is superb though. I'd really like to see them go back to synth again just once to see if they really still have it just like they did in the '80s.

They don't even need to go synth to go pre-SIT. Their whole style has changed. For better or for worse? Irrelevant. They're good either way, although I prefer the less proggy stuff overall. A good, quick thrash like Be Quick Or Be Dead, The Trooper, Quest For Fire and especially Invaders is what I like, tempo wise.

Invaders is brilliant 👍

I love that song, however I'm not so keen on the chorus, I feel they could have adapted it better, but that's just my opinion and I didn't write the song...

By extension, I hate your sister! Blasphemy.

She doesn't have good music taste. She hates James LaBrie. She hates some Maiden songs, and claims she can't listen to more than 3 Maiden songs at once. Then she helps everyone else's ears bleed my listening to her scary music. (screamo) She's the only person in the house who listens to it.

You must educate her, young Kiwi. Go forth and utilise your stereo powers.

My own female sibling is a lost cause to a mixture of emo, dubsteb and rap with only smatterings of acceptable music. We share a common like of Maiden but our tastes differ greatly

My mates are Maiden fans, not my family really.

She is unteachable. If someone has grown up with Maiden. For 8 years to be exact. And they still aren't very appreciative. They won't get any better. But the thing is. If she can't stand Bruce Dickinson for half an hour. What would happen if I forced Queensrÿche down on her. Just play Warning and she'll be going mental!

And on an Iron Maiden note.

I've just listened to TNOTB album through my headphones, and then when it ended Piece of Mind Started. And my god you really can notice the difference between Clive and Nicko! Nicko sounds so much more powerful and enthusiastic.

NOTB - Epic entrance by Bruce.
POM - Epic entrance by Nicko.

Both brilliant. 'Nuff said.

The same here, although my uncle is a die-hard Maiden fan, the same goes for my father. However for my sisters and mother, the less said the better. They like that Justin Bleeder muppet or whoever he is...

Well my immediate family, those with whom I live, only like chart music. And I'm not joking when I say I have no idea whoever these 'talented' musicians are. I don't follow the charts or almost anything contemporary. I just don't like it.

Me either, however working in radio and going to a school where near enough everybody likes mainstream music, sucks. And, to put the icing on the cake, we've been told we're not allowed to play "heavy" rock tracks. :banghead:
