Still getting my bearings on the AC online front, but just exited after an hour, and I think @RReed43 was there too, along with a reddit ACRL guy who was quick.
Yes that was me. I spent a lot of time practicing tonight. I'm certainly not going to win the race. I just hope to be consistent so that I end up in a respectable position.

Was eager to try the version of Bathurst we are using next round so I tried out several of the GT3 cars around it. While it's not perfect, it's not too bad and I'm learning it's character. Begs the question; next round is GT3 class vehicles - is the Scuderia Glickenhaus SCG003 included in that list? In my initial testing I'm doing 2.16s in a few of them, 17s and 18s in the ones I'm not as comfortable with, but in the SCG003 it's straight in to the 14s. It's a beast, and a clear leader over the rest of them, for me anyway.

I'm sorry. I don't have any idea on why that would happen and I regret I don't have the skills to do anything about it. The program that runs the server and the program that creates the on line sessions comes from Kunos and has very little documentation. It is pretty tricky to get it all working let along fixing it if something goes wrong.

I've had this happen, the solution is pretty easy. Go into your AC tracks folder and copy the Donington folder, then go to your AC server folder and paste that track into the "tracks" folder inside the server folder, should take care of it. Also, in the server app there's a button at the bottom called "update server content" or something like that and it should do the same thing, make sure all the content in your server folder is updated with what's in your regular content folder.

Good call. I've never driven that car but if it's that much faster we should probably rule it out. I'll make a note of it in the OP. Thanks for pointing that out. 👍

While this is good advice, in this particular case I'm not sure that's the issue. I was able to get in just fine a few minutes ago, and since both @RReed43 & @Gravitron were able to get in, it leads me to believe @Cote Dazur has the wrong version of Donington installed, causing his checksum mismatch.

You're probably right. The correct version is listed in the OP, maybe it's been updated since he last downloaded it and that's causing it not to work? Could it maybe be that Cote needs to copy the Donington folder into his server tracks folder, or does only the host need to do that?

I simply can not download it. Race Department is being incredibly slow and unreliable for me, it downloads some of it and drops out. I am trying it again now but currently I am having very little luck downloading ANYTHING from Race Department, I have a list of mods for GSCE I want to download but it doesn't work.

I'm sure it's not my internet connection - currently downloading something on Steam and it's happily sitting on 7.2Mb/s

EDIT: Nope, download failed again. I get about a third of it then it just looses connection. Is it hosted anywhere else?

I'm guessing a dingo has been nibbling on your interwebs cable.

I re-downloaded the track and will try it when the server is back online.
About lap times, I had a few run with my normal rig last night, I did a 1:26.9xx, so much for a better wheel and bigger screen does not make you faster, LOL, and that is with gate shifting versus paddle on the DF pro.
I know it is still slow, but I never was very fast. Where is everybody else at?
When can we expect the server to be back online @RReed43 ?

Only just got the track installed then and I wasn't going to bother with it tonight but your post inspired me to see how it goes so I thought I'd give it a quick go before I go to bed. Spent a few laps getting a basic understanding of the car and track and managed a 1.23.694, but I'm not consistent, I need to do more laps to get in to a rhythm. I feel there is still time in it too, but it's 1.20am and I need to go to bed lol. Might try Johnny's set up tomorrow some time. Quite a good track @BrandonW77 it's pretty well made. Tricky corners. Car is getting some getting used to, you really need to pitch it in under brakes or it doesn't turn.

I think it's one of the better mod tracks I've tried. The other version is good too, and maybe looks a little better, but I felt that at least with the Abarth this version had a slightly better flow to it and was easier to scoot the AC around it.

Darn, I just realized I'm busy on Sat Feb 6. :( Will still try to join any practice lobbies I come across between now and then. Great combo, and like @Punknoodle said, chuck it in to the corners and let 'er slide. :P

I plan to have a practice server up tomorrow evening around the normal start time. I'll probably just set it to 30 minute practice with a quick 4 lap race and have it up for a few hours so people can come and go as they please. Feel free to join if you're around. 👍

@RReed43 I've been meaning to ask, how did you get those lightening starts in the Escort? Both races you went shooting by me off the line like you were already on a hot lap. Is there some trick to getting a good start like that or was it just luck? I usually practice my starts before the race but forgot to last weekend so I wasn't very good off the line.

I am using the Fanatec CSP v3. The clutch is really good as well as the clutch simulation in AC. The Escort is really peaky on power and bogs down when the rpm drops. You need to keep the wheels spinning and the rpm up throughout the start. I give the car full power just before the start and then rapidly engage the clutch so the wheels start spinning but not so fast as to kill the rpm. Once the wheels stop spinning you are just about ready to hit 2nd gear. It takes off like a rocket when you engage 2nd. I am several seconds ahead of reaching 2nd over cars that have bogged down on the start.

It works on most manual shift cars but the advantage is only really big on a car like the Escort which is so peaky on power.

Ah, I wasn't using the clutch so I couldn't finesse it like that.

Which gearset are you using?

Another car to 'test' for the GT3-race, the Super Trofeo (or as I want to call it, the Super-Truffle :dopey:), in some 'just get seat-time' tests I've done between it, the Huracán GT3 & 12-C GT3 at various tracks, I can usually get it close - if not faster than the legit-GT3 cars.

I'd like to use it (love the darn thing), but if it gets out-ruled like the SCG then I can fall back on the Huracán GT3.

Strictly speaking, because it isn't actually a GT3 spec car it shouldn't be allowed to enter a GT3 event. The SCG is actually built to GT3 rules, it's just that it's so damn quick.

I had the gearing set one step shorter in the final drive (I don't remember the ratio). I know some people went longer using only 1-4 on Brands Hatch. I went shorter but only used 1st gear at the start but maxed rpm in 5th on the fast sections.

I'm going to be on the RReed server for a little while if anyone has some spare time :)

Update: OK I'm done, ran about 20 laps with Johnny's tune (with added fuel as to simulate race setup). Got it consistent now, running laps within around 3 tenths of a second. I recommend the tune, it aids understeer a LOT.

My main concern is pushing wide on a couple of corners - the off track penalty doesn't allow for pushing wide so if it happens by mistake you are off throttle for 5 seconds which in this little car is a massive loss.

Anyway, thanks for putting up the server :)

Default I think, or one notch higher.

I think I'd rather run the Truffle Shuffle as a one-make race since that's how I usually see it race. We'll just stick to the regular GT3's for this one. I figured you'd be all over the Macca. :sly:

I'm going to turn that penalty off. I think it's a bit extreme and going off the track is generally going to be penalty enough. I'll just trust everyone to not abuse track limits and ask that anyone who sees a driver repeatedly and flagrantly violating the limits to let me know.

The 218 km/h gearset give the best launch. The 230 km/h is good too, the 249km/h gear set bogs the engine down.

I got decent starts, but Reed was shot out of a cannon both times, overtook half the field by the first turn. I was just curious how he was so much faster than everyone else.

I can't remember all the gear sets off the top of my head or what default is but the difference in starts between the first two gear set and the next one is night and day. With the 249 gear set there's simply is no way to get a good start the engine just doesn't have enough power for it.
