The Grind is Getting Me Down Man

That is kind of counter the point of grinding espeically if you are grinding to get enough Cr to buy a used car... you don't want to risk losing a race and getting no Cr only to see the used car come and go from the lot and realize that in "having more fun" you just forced yourself to have to wait who knows how long to even see that car again.

Buy something used and have some fun with it. They're cheap and fun. You don't need an 800 horsepower monster to have a good time.

I have found myself a gem of a time.

Extreme Series: Euro Championship: Rome Circuit

5 laps about 1:10 per lap with most cars and nets you 83,000cr and 4500 xp

I've been going through my garage driving all my eligible premium cars in cockpit mode only. Fun little track, good variety, and I have discovered some pretty cool cars I didn't know I had. Most of them are stock so can be quite a handfull.

I think they just need better prize cars that you can actually use for the next events, I'm level 20 and still haven't won a proper race car (I don't have stealth cars or anything). I didn't know they actually expect you to buy an f1 yourself, not looking forward to that yikes

True. I played final fantasy xiii. The grind was ****ing awful in that game

Remember taking on that Behemoth and the other horned monster at the end near the giant plains? Oh god I must have spent at least a good 4-5 hours just at that spot. Why do I even have that game anymore.

Hey....I don't like the level system either but its working. Pd knew we were gonna beast log 4000 miles of racing in 3 days.....Then the main gameplay would be done. I see it as "Give us some time" while we add more things.....Im taking my sweat time with this game because it gonna have @tleast a 3 year layover for the next one.

To me, it seemed like in GT3, and GT4. Once I got past a certain point in the game, I didn't really have to worry about credits as much. I could buy anything I wanted, and tune the cars I wanted. Like in GT4, with the DTM race in the European hall. Where you could sell the prize car for like 750k. Plus maybe 120k for winning the championship. I didn't mind racing that series over and over again, because it paid a lot.

I'm only at level 17, and I would like to start saving up for a Peugeot 908, and a Ferrari 330 P4, and a Polyphony Digital F1 car. I would estimate that would be at least 40 million. I only have maybe 350k credits at this point.

The leveling system is deeply flawed. Sometimes I wonder if anyone in QA even played through the whole game

Yup. My most hated thing from Forza, and now they brought it to GT land.

I hated Forza for the levelling system. GT's old system of "You got the cash and license, go for it big boy" was so much better.

Hey everyone. Just a quick question, cause I didn't want to start a new thread just for a 2 second question. Like many of you, I am also on a journey to collect all 1031 cars in the game. But the problem is I don't think I'll be able to keep track of which cars I have and which ones I don't. So my question to all of you is whether there is some sort of symbol beside the car which tells us whether we have acquired the car already or not. Thanks.

You should have a pet name for each of your cars. You need to develop a deep and loving relationship with all your cars. :p

 That's a lot of love to go around! Really hope there is some way to identify whether we have the car or not though.:nervous:

I... really don't think it's that big a deal. I'm halfway through level 22 now and I haven't had to do any grinding yet. Only two more levels and I'll have unlocked every event in the game and can buy any car in the game.

Since you guys hate repitition so much I trust you're not interested in the endurance races? So then the game ends at level 24 for you. Grinding problem solved :)

Hmmm, I only had to grind a little once I hit level 23, not had to repeat a single race till then. Now I am grinding a little to get the Formula GT but to be honest it seems much better than previous game. Top tip use B-Spec as well, he gets some really good cars for you!

In GT3, you could win different cars or at least different colored cars for the same challenges. That was much more interesting to do an event over and over again.
The special stages are the same. Why can you get money for it just once? Why not get at least money when i do a better time than my recent best lap time in a special stage?
Well, it would be awfully easy to make money in the Special Stages if we could do them over and over. And you can't give out money for improving. That would be creating a disadvantage for drivers who get it right first time.

Though, I agree with the first thought. I miss GT3. I did the Dream Car Championship so many times to collect all the colors of all the LM cars. It didn't get boring, unlike GT, because you were possibly rewarded each time. I miss the carousel of prize cars. GT4 introduced a few good new events, but overall, the races from GT3 haven't been topped.

In GT5 I don't like the pointless experience system. The licenses are now redundant. And there is arcade-style overtaking challenges in the licenses! Those should be missions, the licenses should be about timed runs and learning the physics and courses, not forcing you to drive dangerously and aggressively to take first place. The rallies can only be done once to get any sort of reward. Some of the races are too short and some of the series are just way to short. The GTWC is 5 races long! Even in the short GT1, it was 7 races. And no qualifying. Prize cars are rarely good. Standard cars. No midfield, apricot and even no test course. What happened to my GT. :nervous:

Don't understand this leveling system. Complete waste of time and added layer of complexity for pd to manage when there was no need. As people say what are licenses for if not for this?

The game has the cars sorted just no where to use them properly. I d like to see double the number of a spec events and decent prize cars to go with. I think even prologue had better e events @

It's a classic case of fixing something that isn't broken.

I hated Forza for the levelling system. GT's old system of "You got the cash and license, go for it big boy" was so much better.
It really wasn't. I admit it, the leveling system is flawed. Experience for races is far too low, for example. And if you want to do the licence tests, they don't pay out enough experience either. And there is no reason whatsoever to tie the tuning system and damage to the game levels. But the idea behind the system is better than the licence system in previous GTs simply because of the freedom of choice it gives the player, and it really just needs a good rebalancing (just like the credit system, used car costs and event prizes) to be fine.

Hate the execution. Not the concept.

Out of curiosity where are people grinding at? Have you golded all the Challenges? There is experience in them there hills....

I seem to remember Yamauchi taliking about recognising that people had less time in their lives, GT fanbase older and with other committments etc (last year sometime - there was concern that GT Mode wouldn't be included on the back of it...?)

But then, he said many things that don't appear to have been relevant to the final game.

Perhaps in a parallel universe there is another copy of GT5 that resembles the one that was talked about over the last 5 years...

See, here is the thing, I am having far less grinding to do here than in GT4. Did people play a different GT4 and GT5 to me or something?

The way I remember GT4 was that there was more choice - perhaps it was just the world map thing and the way you flip around between different events.

This thread is really bumming me out! Last night was the first time since starting GT5 that nothing annoyed me! I'm only at level 13, and playing the nurburgring special event, had a blast doing it. Now I feel like the worst is yet to come!

I wouldn't worry man, I had a tiny bit of grind at Level 23 and that was it.

I've not played the game as much as I thought I was going to, as I've just been busy doing other things, but I still relish the time I do get to sit down and get on with it.

I'm only on Lv 16 A-spec & Lv 8 B-spec, but haven't had to do any grinding yet. The Special Events seem to be the only place that makes you any money / XP, I've only really raced the Beginner / Amateur races so far, can't recall looking in the Pro leagues. Have got B-spec to a similar position as A-spec, slightly behind.

Currently plan to complete Beginner league all gold (just need to buy applicable cars..., then get it done A & B spec) then do Amateur league same way etc.

Got a second B-spec driver that I suppose I need to level up, I should imagine if you tried to develop a team of 3 or 4 good B-spec drivers, that's going to take a long time and earn you a fair amount...

Hardly the point of GT though, admittedly.

I just started with the IA license and now beat em' all with Gold. Not to bad. Only S left, I'll be saving that for another day.

...Back to grinding

Its a really sad realisation for me that i now know its really unlikely that i'll ever get to play the Redbull X1 car.... i simply don't have enough free time to play this game for the amount it requires to grind levels and money to get to the point where i can challenge for it

I know GT is meant to be a long-haul game but when you're limited to maybe a couple hours a week the mountain of level grind and cash grind is simply staggering .... arcade mode is restricted ... its hard to know which events unlock which content so its hard to focus effort without research

Overall ... while i am getting more respect for the game after my initial disappointments i am sad to know i won't see its finest jewels

Maybe we will see the perfect GT5 in Fringe? :o
