I’ll def give your method a shot next because it does bug me a little that my DLC cars are listed as ‘HYBRID’ origins.
Yeah, I never have liked how GE 1.3.1 did that. Fortunately, XfileFin's save editor doesn't do that, so that won't be an issue.

Let me know in thread if you have any issues!
You're welcome! :)
I can't wait to enter the Lightweight K car with a Red Bull X2011 disguised as a Subaru 360
It should work.

Worked perfectly as per your tutorial.
So now after removing the ‘hybrid’ DLC cars the only cars left under ‘HYBRID’ origins are those that I’ve actually built/hybridized.
All of the DLC cars gained from your method are listed under their correct origins now. My OCD has now been satisfied somewhat LOL.
Thx again!

So after some discussion via PM, just to publicly acknowledge this:
When loading the save, I noticed that it weighed 392 KB on the flash drive, and after installation, 372 KB.
Not sure why this happened, but I think I have seen it before, and it's probably nothing to worry about as long as it works as intended.
When entering the store, the car from the DLC is still unavailable for purchase.
This was because you forgot to click "Persist DLC's without license files (vou)", but since you did this later, it now works! :) Something I didn't realize earlier is you were referring to the Dealership from within the game.
Not all tickets are issued,
That was because you clicked "Mark as installed", which doesn't give tickets.
and they are duplicated.
And that, I believe, was because you clicked the button twice.

I believe the takeaway here seems to be user error, which can happen. Unless I am forgetting something, I think this issue has been sorted now. 👍 Glad you got what you wanted! :)

Not sure which tool you're referring to, but yes, it will work on PAL copies of GT5. (both GE 1.3.1 and Razerman's GT5 Save Editor)

It's explained in the tutorial, but you just navigate to Save Data on the PS3, find your GT5 save data, then press triangle and select "copy". Then find your USB drive you plugged in and copy it.

Sorry for bothering you again, but I have a pretty strange case here. When I download the save editor, it says its unsafe, and I can't keep it. Is my browser just bugging out or is this a real problem?

If I remember right, if you go to the downloads tab in your browser and click the 3 dots beside the program, the option to keep will be there.

I'm in GT5 now, and when I try to drive a car, it says the content isn't installed. I redeemed the tickets, I just can't drive the car for some reason.
It's only the redeemed cars affected, not all cars.

Also, I think I should mention this now for further use: I am not necissarily the target demographic. I am trying to redeem these cars and the speed test because I missed out on the opportunity. Hopefully this will give some info into my situation.

I believe you forgot to follow step 6 in my tutorial, which is to click the checkbox that says “Persist DLC’s without license files (vou)".

If you have any further questions about my tutorial, I would recommend posting about it in the thread for it.

Thank you.
And yes, I will post any further questions in the tutorial thread as to not clog up this thread.

So Razerman has brought an exciting new update to his save editor, and this time, it includes the ability to edit your b-spec driver and his attributes! 🥳 If you're like me, you probably didn't like how GT5 would just randomly give you a name, and you had to keep changing it, and hope it would eventually give you one you actually want. Well, stress about it no longer; this editor now provides the ability to change the name to whatever you want it to be! :) And that's not all! Gone are the days when you would have to do a ton of B-spec races to get your driver's experience and other stuff leveled up! Now you can just edit these attributes in the editor to be whatever you want them to be! :D

Here's an example of what I did here, using a newly created driver:
Example.webp

And here it is in-game:
Gran Turismo 5.webp

Gran Turismo 5_1.webp

As you can see, it works! :dopey:

A few things to note, though:
1. Driver names cannot be longer than 64 characters because that is the limit. Though, as seen in the pictures, it will overlap the UI if it reaches a certain length.
2. Driver names must not contain the letters ä or ö because they break in-game for some reason, which is not a fault of the editor.
3. Each field has a limit on how high you can set it, and it cannot be any higher than that. Here's a picture showing what the max numbers are for each field, minus the driver name field:
Max.webp

Furthermore, if you put something invalid, it will look like this:
Error.webp

If you get that, just change it to something that is valid, and it'll disappear.

Here's the link to the latest update of the editor:
Enjoy! :) Credits to Razerman for making this possible! 👍

Very cool, I started playing GT5 in 2020, tried everything to get save editor to work, failed, got sad, discovered Master mod later, couldn’t get that working, but I’ve finally got it working :)
I wanted to ask in a more appropriate thread, but what save editor did you try and what happened when you did?

Thank you! It definitely helps to have links to GE 1.3.1 and LucaTirelli's editor because NGU, for whatever reason, requires you to be logged in to view links, including the ones for those editors. Fortunately, I still have my account there.

I will give fair warning, xfileFIN's save editor does occasionally get updated, so I'll need you to update the link to it whenever that happens. The one I provided is for the current version.

Hey Sonygamer455, I've been reading some of your posts about save editors for GT5 - really useful stuff! And I appreciate you taking the time to share the latest versions in one place!

I have one question I'm hoping you can answer or anyone else for that matter - out of three editors I'm using (GT5 Garage Editor, GT5 Hybrid Builder and GT5 Save Editor) none of them have the ability to edit individual race results (e.g. gold, silver, bronze). The Hybrid Builder has them listed and you can "Set as Won!" but when I apply this (there's no feedback from the UI so I assume it thinks it's done) there's no change in the saved game after I load. Any idea why this might be or if there's any other tool out there that can do this?

You're welcome! I figured since some of those editors were so old now, I would share the links here so people can easily find them and not have to register on NGU to download them.

I can't say I have an answer for why that feature in the Hybrid Builder isn't working. I never used it much back in the day, and I only recently redownloaded it. Unfortunately, I don't know of any save editors for GT5 that have such a feature. Though I do recall Razerman at one point was going to add a feature like this years ago, though I don't think he's worked on it in a long time.

Yeah I actually signed up to NGU just so I could download them a while ago but I know they're scatted around the Internet with slightly different versions so it's good to have them referenced in one place. I'm surprised there's not a resources area on here where they could even be hosted...

I might try contact Razerman if he's stilll active 'cos I'd be interested to see if it would be hard to fix (or at least understand why it doesn't work). I found the source code for the garage editor (https://github.com/sean-halpin/gt5GarageEditor) and I managed to build/run it so if I could do the same with the save editor I'd be more than happy to try keep debug it and understand it more. I know this is an old game and there's probably not a lot of interest in it anymore but this is now like a personal mission for me.

EDIT: Sorry, I'm getting these three save editors mixed up  I'm not sure who the deveopler of the Hybrid Editor is but that's the one with the feature that isn't working for me.

Yeah, I always hated how NGU required you to sign up just to view links, which was why I decided to share them here so people wouldn't have to sign up just to download them.

To be fair, back when save editing was much more common in this game, GTPlanet used to have a rule against discussing save editors in GT5 and how to use them while the game was online. However, since the game has been offline since 2014, we can discuss them freely now, but the number of people who still use them is quite stagnant from what it once was.

I should've mentioned this earlier, but Razerman (AKA xfileFIN) is the author behind the GT5 Save Editor and not any of the others. Although he does occasionally provide updates for his GT5 editor, he's a pretty busy person, so this sort of thing does not happen too often.

I can't say I've seen this before. Is the source code for the garage editor by Slim and q-k, or something else?

LucaTirelli is the author behind the GT5 Editor & hybrid creator 1.6. His editor has not had another update in many years and likely never will. Hopefully, Razerman can add such a feature to his editor; I know he has at the very least started on it.

Yeah I completely get it from that point of view. Editing saves for an unfair advantages online against other players isn't fair but I'm glad they are more relaxed now the servers are shutdown. Also, it's a 10+ year old game. If anything I think it breathes a more life into it.

I knew he wasn't the developer of all of them. To be honest I'm not sure how many are out there and considered "good enough" to be used. In summary this is my understanding of the three I've found and used:

Name: Gran Turismo 5 Save Editor
Latest Version: 0.0.11.1
Game Version: 2.14
Developer: Razorman
Source Code: n/a

Name: GT5 Garage Editor
Latest Version: 1.3.1
Game Version: 2.00-2.11
Developer: Sean Halpin (slim355) & q-k
Source Code: https://github.com/sean-halpin/gt5GarageEditor

Name: GT5 Editor & Hybrid Creator
Latest Version: 1.6
Game Version: 2.11-2.14
Developer: LucaTurilli
Source Code: n/a

I'm not 100% on the supported game versions - I'm just going off what I've read. To answer your question directly; yes I believe that source code is for the Garage Editor so I've got a feel for how the saves are formatted and how they are modified.

I've DM'd Razorman and already had a reply. He's suggested that it "might not be too bad" to add in what I've mentioned but he'll have to investigate it a bit further but I'm optimistic it's possible... Well anything is possible with some time and effort but I'm hoping it possible for him to have the motivation to add it and be better than how it's been presented in the Hybrid Creator. 🤞

Yeah, it certainly isn't fair for those wanting a fair race online, but fortunately, I didn't play online much. It certainly does breathe new life into the game, and it's a big part of what keeps bringing me back to it.

I am not too sure either, but I know Razerman's editor can support at least 2.10-2.17 and possibly more, but I would need to research it.

Those 3 are the ones I know about, and I recall seeing a 4th one once years ago, but it didn't work right for me. (I forgot the name of it)

Good to know. I didn't realize the source code had been posted.

I think it'll get added eventually. Truth be told, there are a lot of things I want to be added to his editor, but I try not to ask for much since I know he's a busy person. I'll be glad this does get added though!
