Well like I said, no laws apply here its a contract agreement basically.
Good to hear that contracts now have nothing to do with the law.
You might want to tell this to the millions of lawyers, judges, barristers, etc. who spend their days embroiled in contract law.

Hmm... Won't there be plenty of sub-million duping still?
Yeah but if you say want to buy a $2m touring car that you will never drive, just to complete your collection, now you'll have to grind Indy for some 110 laps.
This turns GT5 into a chore rather than a game.
The seasonal events help alleviate this but there are far too few of them.
If we could re-do the seasonals every 24 or 48 hours that would help but as it is once every other week is just not enough.

You're taking it a bit too literal. What I meant was there is no LAW that says you cant modify or exploit flaws in software. The legal portion is the enforcement of the contract. However that should be the least of anyones fears as I have never ever heard of someone being sued (not prosecuted) for cheating at a video game. When you break a law you're prosecuted, when you break a contract you can be sued, they are very different things with very different consequences. So throwing the word "illegal" around in cheating at the game IMO is the wrong thing to say.

On that matter I'd like someone to show what clauses in the Sony agreement says we can't have multiple accounts or that we can't dupe cars. I doubt dupers are even breaking any contract.

Most (read: all) EULAs have a broad blanket statement which prohibits exploitation of flaws in the software, etc, etc. It obviously won't say "you can't duplicate cars", but it's covered.

Multiple accounts are only against the EULA if you use false information when creating them. (name, address, email, etc)

Well if Sony decides to connect an online store with gt5 then, yes duping will truly become an issue. No doubt it will be handled the same way the other online games are done... you get caught you get banned. This is not something new, if you never go online then it will never be an issue for you. Till then it all is kind of a mute point. Like beating a dead horse so to speak.

The duper has now been replaced by the "I can make 3 million cr in a 20 minute race"er, but I wouldnt know anything about that ;)

I don't see whats wrong with duping.. I haven't done it and nor do I plan to. I haven't done the b-day ticket glitch as well. It doesn't effect how I enjoy the game. And nor does it you. So WHY do you @#$%ing care so much!?

it would help to know who you are asking this question to?

Duping is cheating in my oppinion.
Why?
You don't lose money for buying a car.
I'm glad 1.07 took place.
I want to play this game for a long time, it'll take me a long time to fulfill my goal - getting all cars and level 40 in A and B spec, legit.

That is great for you, but right now duping has no effect on how YOU play the game, if and only if they go into a true online store or leveling system will it have any way of effecting your game play.

I wish I could figure that one out. I've never made 3 million in an online race but it's happened several times where I only won a few hundred credits and people who finished in lower positions than me earned tens of thousands. Now I know where my credits are going.

If you've ever backed up your game save for the purpose of restoring lost data etc. Then you are a duper (cheater) yourself because when the said game save is restored back to the PS3 it is being restored from a copied (duped) game save file made by yourself. Therefore everything in the copied game save is itself a copy (DUPE). I.E. Your garage and everything in it.

Now PD as allowed this and in my honest opinion PD has allowed duping so you really can't call people cheaters for doing what the developers have allowed them to do in the first place.

To call people who "DUPE" cheaters and is a bit hypocritical. Unless you are such a purist that you have never ever backed up your game save.

Never backed up my save game.

eh if it gets wiped or something, I'll just start agian...just like i did in GT 1-4.

after all it is only a game, and i like starting with differant cars.

The Purists here are just as bad as the religion fanatics that try tell everyone how to live their lives. I pity you all.

Give Me Liberty or Give Me Death! :)

So your problem is self control then?

Because outside that, duping has no way of impacting how long YOU play GT5.

See the irony here is you are either:

1: A duper which is ruining the longevity of GT5 for you in which case it's your own self restraint that's the real issue at hand and an weird self hate relationship you seem to have going.

2: Not a duper in which case you will be playing GT5 just as long as if duping never existed.

So why do you even care?

You want the game less accessible for others for no legitimate reason.

ah look here...so you're a real noble GT player....so why not wipe your save data everyday...based on what you said, you don't have any problem with it...

so it hurts you not putting VIRTUAL money/credits to good use?

Hahaha... Good luck with that... In a few months you will be crawling back here complaining how impossible it is from level 35 - 40 without grinding to death and how impossible to get some of the rare cars without trading or birthday exploit (20 millions 2D and 2J comes to mind).

See you soon.

What a guy - Total respect for such a heroic stance.

Talk about living life on the edge !

I can smell the ozone being generated from the static electricity as his nylon garments rub together.

Yeah!! thanks to duping i have my wallet full of money...oh wait, my wallet is empty, you can see the other side even!!!

Technically, yeah, it's a 'cheat' -- it's a manipulation of the game system in order to obtain something in the game. The game was built to intentionally limit these things, and this goes outside the unstated 'rules' (which are written in the programming).

But it's a victimless cheat, and if the importance scale runs from 1 to 10, with 1 being the least important and 10 being the most, this rates somewhere around a negative 6.

The next time you shrug your shoulders and start over again, have you decided on whether to start with some 100hp FF from Suzuki or a European sheetbucket analog?
