2. in La Sarthe how many laps you can mostly do before you need to go to the pits and what car goes to there most often?? I have read that its not many laps and the Nissan pits pretty often. I just want to know.
I'd say roughly every 12 laps or so, given that you pit every 6 laps on the 'Ring, a track twice as long as La Sarthe.

The Chaparral 2D raced at Le Mans and led the race but DNF.
40nthefloor posted this about the Chaparral 2J - sucker car:

"lets just say this, i havent put it in a situation in which it is even challenged yet and i have looked.... its a monster. Practice with it on le sarthe and watch it dominate the current LMP's... "

Does someone knows what is going up on here?? Sometimes I can get to this topic and sometimes get a big error message and after that it can take hours before can be back.

well you just understood me wrong: I KNOW that there´s a GTR raced in FIA GT 1997! but i mean, look the CLK-LM is THE CAR which raced at LM (clear or?) and the GTR is called THE CAR racing at FIA GT(in both years-->1997 and 1998!)
that´s why the Mercedes GT Race Car from 1998 has two names(for two championchips/races) and we have the CLK-GTR ´98 #2 K.L. FIA GT in GT4, just look at the name in the game! it IS CLK-GTR not because of license problems, belive me(if PD wished they´d taken the LM car #36, but the #2 FIA GT car was MORE popular!)

and to the race pic:
it´s very unrealistic, cazuse those GTP cars should "rock the LMP cars away" and should be 1st and 2nd instead od 5th and 6th!!!

here is a pic of the european version in which we can see that it's esso written on the 905. Ouf!

I mean even in the FIA-GT championship when the CLK-LM replaced the CLK-GTR it was still called CLK-LM. I think.

but why is it called GTR in GT4 then? i think LM stands for Le Mans so it´s the LM Car and NOT the FIA GT! GTR is for FIA GT, right? so dunno perhaps sony did a mistake but it´s probably NO license problem...

I mean ok LM stands for Le Mans but in the FIA-GT championship the CLK-LM were stil called CLK-LM (it's seems normal as they ran previously in le mans). Besides, in the second part of the FIA-GT championship, there were to type of CLK. The team AMG got the CLK-LM and the team Persson (remerber the blue clk?) still got the older CLK-GTR. You can check that out at the official FIA-GT website in which you can see that there are both CLK-LM and CLK-GTR on entry lists, in the end of the season of course.

so SONY made a mistake then or what? mush... anyway we have the Mercedes GT Race car in GT4! :) i wonder how it sounds in the game(hope NOT like R8 or Speed, cause they sound like R390 :yuck: !!!)

Esso is a subsidiary of the American Exxon Mobil Corporation. The images of the 905 are from the NTSC/A version…let’s hope that the pug has the correct sponsorship in the imminent PAL release.

Edit: I’ve done some research and my theory holds up. We can see that the PAL version has the historically correct Esso sponsorship on the wing. Note that the Esso logo is surrounded by a circle rather than the square for the Exxon logo. Thank your preferred deity that the PAL territories have avoided certain nation-centric alterations.

Thank you (& tigre_hobbes) for the research! For obvious reasons there's no tabacco & alcohol ads in GT, but I always hated the fact they didn't even have Opel in GT1,2,3 but Vauxhall! Never understood that, but finally they got it right in GT4. What's the point of modelling a car and after that putting the wrong stickers on it?

1. in Le Mans (circuit de la sarthe) race, how easy this race is to win and who are mostly your opponents?? I just ask this and I also know there is 2 races in la Sarthe but dont know will the opponents change.

2. in La Sarthe how many laps you can mostly do before you need to go to the pits and what car goes to there most often?? I have read that its not many laps and the Nissan pits pretty often. I just want to know.

The questions can be pretty dumb to someone but for me them isnt. I hope even someone wants to answer for them...

Yes, there are two 24h races at La Sarthe.

Version 1.
Track layout: chicanes present on Mulsanne.
AI opponents: Random LM vehicles.
Win: Audi R8.

Version 2:
Track layout: no chicanes on Mulsanne.
AI opponents: Group C cars (Occasionally the 1969 GT40 makes an appearance)
Win: Speed 8.

Sadly, the CLK LM is the least accurate sounding car in the game. No hint of the thundering muscle car sound that it makes in real life. Sound is akin to the bland sample used for the C5R in GT3. Stops me from driving it…

Really? In all my GT, I got Opel and not Vauxhall. Perhaps it's because I have the french versions.

Thanks to answers Samberto!

GT-One lover, yes atleast we have some Mercedes Gt racer in the game. If I dont remember right there was a vid of it somepoint in somewhere in this forums(not in this area) when Mercedes started the race and also there was a pit footage in La Sarthe. There you heard the sounds if you are able to find it. That link what I posted where Mercedes CLK-LM is on sell there you can see some photos to its technical side. I think its looks pretty cool!

So Samberto, before March 9th when i will find out for myself, but which of the Le Man cars is the best, in terms of speed handling and over all feel. the 80's and early 90's Group C cars, the Late 90's GT1 cars or the modern LMP cars? In GT3 the best was either the Toyota GT-One, R390 or the 787B (My favourite is the GT-One as i got a demon of a setup!) Ultimatly the cars i am most interested in the GT-One, Speed 8, R8 and Sauber C9! Love some pics of the cars mentioned aswell!!

Just realised it is not long till March 9th!!

good question! i wanted to know this aswell, so please can someone give an answer? i think the 905 will be fastest non-F1 car in game(but if the GT-One had 810 hp it would be as fast as the Peugeot --because of its very good aerodynamics--and even faster! so a comparison is rather unfair!
and...
HEY JMIXA can you give a link to this vid, please? would LOVE to see it!
or do you just mean the GT4 intro? hope not

It ran at Magny-Cours in october '93. Sadly, the world sportscar championship ended in 93. So the evo2, which was supposed to do the '94 championship, never ran again. :guilty:
What a shame it was such a radical car! :scared:

I know Williams teamed up with BMW to make the chassis a LMP as a sort of thank you to BMW for their work in the F1, how many years did the BMW V12 LMR race at Le Mans? Just the one they won ('99)? or did they come back again?

Also, not to offend anyone but the long straight isn't called Mulsanne, that's the corner at the end of it.

Thanks to http://www.racingcircuits.net for these images.

the lmr did not race out of the us after their win at lemans 99 iirc. they won a few races in 99 in alms, but, did not win the drivers or manufactors championship due to missing 2-3 races. they returned in 2000 only to have audi come in with their new toy and were apparently sore losers since they didnt turn show up for the race of a thousand years 2000.

why didn´t the 905 evo1Bis have that "front wing", which the 905 evo1 had? i mean there are still those "fastenings" or "hooks" at the front of this car(especially around the "Peugeot" emblem) BUT no front wing, why?

none of the peugeot 3.5l group c cars used the bolt on front wing at lemans since the increase in drag would be too costly on the long straights of le sarthe.

GT-ONE LOVER- Its not to intro vid. I am not sure did you watched it but it was up one day in the old Le Mans topic at GT4 normal discussion area. Do you remember?? Sorry but I didnt even started to look where it has been dropped as I think its really far away.

What comes to BMW V12 LMR, yes BMW dropped it factory support for year 2000. At 1998 BMW was at the grid as a factory team already but dont remember was the car called to V12 LMR, in 1999 we all know that them won and in 2000 some private team runned a red V12 LMR in Le Mans.

Yeah Peugeot 905 EVO II looks very weird. Its would have been intresting to see it racing against other C group cars.

I know the Tyrell 6 didn't stand a chance of getting in but I sure could of made it beyond exceptable if it did!

👍 👍 One day, man, one day. They've already stuck their necks out with the Chaperal fan car. Perhaps the Brabham BT46b(I think) fan car would be next...

As I mentioned on page 1, I believe that the Toyota 88C-V is this fastest car (aside from F1) on most circuits (Japanese/Asian GT4. No driving aides.) The 88C-V edges out the C9 and the R92CP with its light weight, massive down-force, excellent traction and six speed gearbox.
Nonetheless, the open LMPs are the most benign handlers, making the R8 and the LMR slightly better tools for the likes of Citta Di Aria. However, I’m certain that come March 9 the Pug will assume the 88C-Vs current role. After all the 905 wasn’t labeled an ‘F1 car in drag’ without reason.

Thanks for that Samberto! I dont think this is a common view but i think the Pug looks butt ugly! Plus i couldnt take the car sersiously as France has never made a sports car, so it is strange that this seems to be so popular! March 9th is closer but im trying not to think about it or my school work will suffer! Am i right in thinking that in a straight line the LMP cars like the R8 are not as fast asthe closed top cars? Im talking in real life terms but i would be interested to know in GT4 terms as well! Slightly off topic but i am linking le mans with long distance here, how many kilometeres do you do when the engine starts to loose power like it did in GT3 and can you do something to return the engine back to the original power level?
