Lola released the first official pics of their 2012 LMP1 car, the B12/60. This is the car that will be used by Rebellion in the WEC (engine: Toyota) and by Dyson (engine: Mazda) in the ALMS + Le Mans.

In an era of ugly F1 cars, nothing compares to the beauty of a LM prototype ;)

EDIT: Even if the "bulky" headlights are not to my own liking

If F1 is ugly, then Indy Cars are Rosie ODonnel

That's a good looking car.

Yes it is, it's good to see something with true flowing grace rather than some of the cars out now, just as he said.

Looking at these LMP cars it looks to me that the cockpit and roofline are set too low and it causes a problem seeing over the headlights.

Absolutely stunning! Can't wait to see it in action :)

Its a Bummer that the Muscle Milk Guys couldn't pick up one of these...

For some reason I can't help but think of the AH6 Little Bird.:dopey:

Dont feel bad for them, they will be on the sharp edge this year with a new HPD factory backed effort. i like them too and i think the new Honda sponsorship will be a good thing.

The HPD (LMP1) they got is probably better than this Lola.

I can't believe I'm saying this, but for the first time ever, F1 cars don't look as ugly as these prototypes do, with those absurd "capes" or "billboards", or whatever you call that flat panel behind the canopy.

Lola tells us how they built the B12/60 ... in video

The Lola and the Dome both sure look sexy.

I don't know if this already been covered or not but 2012 Lotus LMP2?
Looks much boxy than other LMP2 cars.

That looks awfully familiar to the Lola Aston Martins.

Ugly. And I'm tired of the vulgarization of what was once a great, beautiful, livery.

I think there should be an on-campus viewing party of Sebring at USF. Not sure how that would work, though. Also there wouldn't be drinking which would suck. I wanted to have a viewing party at my place but I'm stealing internet so it's really shoddy connection, and I'd have to pay the ESPN3 sub fee.

Anyone know of a Tampa/USF-area viewing party going on?

That Black and Gold livery needs to stop. It's been bastardized with it's overuse.

And the Gulf Livery hasn't?

Are you suggesting Gulf should stop sponsoring teams all over the world?

http://www.gulfoil.ie/gulf-teams-gear-up-for-second-half-of-201/

The "black and gold" livery has nothing to do with a sponsor, it has all to do with an heritage of something that doesn't exist anymore (Team Lotus+Colin Chapman+John Player Special).

That heritage is quiclkly becoming meaningless.

That's the thing, I don't think there was ever a John Player Specials-sponsored sports-car.

the black and gold should only be where it was first and that is Formula 1

Im sick of reading about Forumla 1 in this thread, if you dont like lotus using its own colors thats fine no one really cares. If you want to bitch about it go do it in a Formula 1 thread.

I'm not saying that. I'm just tired of seeing the same livery everytime. It was cool the first two times, its become over kill to me just as this Black & Gold livery is with Lotus.

What can i say. It's probably Lotus official colour now.

I like the Lotus car as well as the inclusion of Evoras, but I especially like that DOME car. Sorry, even though the open-cockpits like HPD are cool, I like the new P1 closed-cockpit cars. Deal with it :D

Open cockpit is to Spitfire as Closed Cockpit is to F22.

It's just a preference i suppose.
