The ACO know what their doing, their restrictions are there to keep costs down so that privateers can come in and be "competitive". If they start going wild with HP concessions it'll defeat the purpose. The McLaren may have a chance since it'll be relatively easier to hologate/balance with the GT-E cars and ALMS/ACO is in no place to turn away potential ne teams.

Turbos are allowed for cars under 3l IIRC, but only for 4pots. And they have to retain the turbos unchanged from the roadcar. That's why noone uses them.

The GT3 Macca do however have turbos, the GT3 rules are much less restrictive than GTE. GT3 uses bop (wich is mainly air restictors and ballast) and success ballast, GTE uses air restrictors and waivers.
I don't think the ACO will allow the Can-Am to race at Le Mans.

Definitely not the Can Am, that concept is just a PR stunt! No sanctioning body will allow that car to run in any class in the planet, only class for that car at those Specs would've been the old now defunct GT1 and it would've probably been restricted there too!
Now if there's a serious effort proposed to the ACO to run the car at or near its current GT3 Specs I'm willing to bet a compromise would be made and a waiver given to them.

Jav
That would be the most logical route, simply allow the GT3 Specs to be used. GT3 McLarens are pretty much on pace with the GT-E cars. The whole Can Am package thing is just marketing BS, they know those Specs are pretty much useless for any racing series in the planet.

I think that CAN-AM car will most likely end being sold to people with too much time and money, and end up being used as track day cars.

The ACO has now put that CanAM thing on their website... It's in French, which I got a C in.

I think it says something to the tune of "Could this be one day run at Le Mans?"

In which case, even the ACO doesnt know.

Edit:
"Enfin, si cette édition Can-Am fait clairement référence à un championnat nord-américain organisé entre 1966 et 1974, les aficionados de l’endurance ne peuvent s’empêcher d’y voir une base idéale pour une déclinaison répondant au règlement GTE de l'Automobile Club de l'Ouest.

La dernière participation d’une McLaren aux 24 Heures du Mans remonte à 1998, édition marquant la fin d’une épopée de 4 ans et marquée par une victoire surprise en 1995."

While The Can Am name references the North American championship which they entered from '66 to '74, (This is the sketchy part) Endurance Aficionados cannot (stop) to (see) that this could be a good base for a GTE car in the ACO.

The last time McLaren was in the LM24 was 1998, they got one win in 4 years with a surprise victory in 1995

It's such a word-y article that it's hard to tell what they mean. They are either saying, point-bank that it would be hard to make it conform, or that there is potential for it to be in said class.

Is there anyone actually fluent in french?

If that's the case it can very well be seen as an invitation to potential teams to run the car!

And they're back out anyways, under the Yellow. It'll be sad as they slowly reel in the gap to Dyson.

I'm hoping he cant get to David Henemier-Hanson, he ought to get a Overall victory. Just to shove it in Scott Tucker's face.

I'll go ahead and say it. Muscle Milk is going to come back and win it.
GT battle is sick as always. I was hoping the new Falken tires would work better for the #17. The Vipers are still slow. Battles at the front are epic, though.

I dont know... They got screwed with the Emergency stop...

1 lap down, An hour and 24 to go. They might just pull this out.

56 BMW being unsportsman... Well, their weekend went bad to worse.

P1 boring...Muscle Milk has recovered four laps in the matter of 45 minutes-1 hour? These cars aren't anywhere near each other in terms of performance.

GT is interesting. I too hope good things for 17.

Like the WEC (and the ELMS, before they went under), LMP2 is the class to watch.

Ragginger in GTC isnt even fair for everybody else. Theres Pro-Am, and then theres PRO-am.

OH! STOP!

Everyone look at the C6 Corvette. It's awesome. Thanks, Johnny O'Connell.... I didnt want hear about the race or anything.

EDIT

STOP AGAIN!

Everyone, be a corner worker. Do it, so they stop interrupting...

(Honestly, I would pay them to let me be a corner worker, i dont know how they cant find any...)

Edit again
Muscle Milk now back on the lead lap. It's all over.

I think Dyson would have been better off if they had taken Aston Martin up on the offer to run one of their old Lola's from last year.

On the other hand, how is it that Dyson cant keep up with Muscle Milk, yet Rebellion is beating the snot out of JRM and Strakka.

Edit: P.Dempsey now up to 3rd! Im pretty excited for that.
