Just dont turn up tire wear too high, us controller users are already subject to faster fading tires than you wheel snobs

I found out last week it actually depends on car and track. There were races on the contoller I got considerably better tire wear and ones where it was awful. @mexxifrieboy somehow consisently has better tires than most others and he holds his controller 180 degrees to the way normal people do. Maybe he'll teach you his secret ways. ;)

@GT: was it in Hawaii or did you see it on the mainland? A flight over the islands would be awesome.

It was a hard choice between the 17 and 24. I decided to jump on the 24 because it is the only operational one in the world, so I might never get another chance in one. On occasion B-17s tour around so I might get in one later on. That P-51 training flight would be incredible, but that's some big pile of cash I can use elsewhere.
It was in Colorado, I didn't fork out the money for the ride, but maybe someday. Yeah, the Mustang is something like $2K for 30 (THIRTY) min! For that money they'd need to let me have the stick for at least half the flight!
It will be very special indeed - happy for ya!

@SAMHAIN85 - BFM, Black Freaking Magic, that's what kind...

For you controller guys, why spend hundreds of dollars on a wheel? Here's some "backyard engineering" to build yourself a cheap wheel & pedal set:

Motorsports gaming the Red Green way. 'If the women don't find you handsome, at least they'll find you handy...but once they learn you're a gamer they won't care...'

Never mind. Should have taken to PM anyways. My bad.
Well Josh, it's like this. I am quite a compassionate person and always give people more than a second chance. I have spent so much time during the last 2 1/2 years pm'ing back and forth with DP over different issues, trying to get him to understand what it is and why it is that he rubs people the wrong way. I have even defended him to others. Most of the time to no avail. I have had many many good races with DP in the past and really don't harbour any bad feelings. But unfortunately there always seems to be drama involved, and seeing as this is Mike and my series, we have the right to keep that out. And the only way is to keep the instigator's out. Each week that I edit report #2, there is his name at the bottom. Its a constant reminder of all the crap that has gone on before. If you knew you were not welcome, would you continue to read and like posts, that's just not normal.
So here I am, once again, spending time trying to explain why this happens. I could have just as easy told you to mind your own business, as you don't even race with us, but I didn't really like your last comment and felt an explanation was prudent.
So let's all put this to bed now please.
Serious Aero out!

Ps: I hadn't refreshed page so didn't see you had edited your post. I think I'll keep my reply here anyways.

I agree totally with Steve, I too have spent countless hours in PMs with DP in the past three years trying to help him fit in. At some point in time you just give up, like we have. Drama is not an option in our room....there is none. The nice thing about running your own room without any expansion plans, is you get to be selective on who gets invited to join. Steve and I have been around long enough to pretty well know who is who in the community and the fun we have reflects why this selection process works. If a bad apple sneaks in and starts s.., he is gone.....just like that. Sgeti, you are on notice. Lol

If anyone is around tonight, I will open a s..s and giggles room around 8edt to practice with the Audi, just not at the track selected for race night. C'mon in Josh or are you just a PC racer now?

Gee, I used to like Bear........or should we call him Yogi Lag. When was Donington, about four years ago? Lol.. I blame your wife's Netflix..... How dare she, I would trade her in....wait, don't do it, she will probably get your rig in the settlement and leave you with dirty dishes and the dog house.

I edited my previous post about how much of a wanker Aero is....scroll up a bit to see the amendment.
Ya bugger...you were chuckling the whole time you were pushing me off.
Wow that took me by surprise, I thought the vette would for sure win. You all suck
i spent an entire season trying to tune that Vette, ( I don't have it) so I only had the short time before the race to muck with it. that's why I went with the Audi

Steve and I have a buddy who owns a couple of vintage Cold War jet trainers that he gives rides......not for free of course, at 1500$ an hour just in fuel, I don't think I'll be going up anytime soon. Steve knows him very well and I don't think he has been up either.

We are going to try something a little different this week.

The competition yellow will come into play during each race.
Aroung half way through each race, a yellow flag will be called when the leader crosses the finish line for the determined lap. (lap # to be determined before each race),
The leader will slow right down to 50 mph allowing everyone to catch up.
On this catch up lap we will all pit at once as a group.......... This is where it gets interesting........ your pit strategy will determine where you exit the Pits. Take on tires, you will exit near the back, but with fresh rubber. Tire wear will be turned up, to make this a more critical decision when pitting, think you can make it on old rubber and still win? You will have to figure out your own fuel that you will need to finish.....too much fuel and you will lose places. Not enough fuel, well, you might come out of the Pits first, but, will not finish.
After leaving the Pits, we will continue around the track to the last turn where we should all be in single file at yellow flag speeds where the leader will have complete control of the restart, no calls, no three numbers or names.....too confusing. It's our job to be on our toes and be prepared for the start. The leader can start at anytime between the last turn and the start/finish line, remember, no start call, it's the leaders reward for having the best pit strategy. It will be a single file restart with no passing before the start/finish line.

This serves three purposes, one, it will bunch everyone up for closer racing and two, it brings your pit crew into play, sorry Bear. Three, it will feel like a break for those guys who like the shorter races, like two races in one. You all seem to like the different stuff we throw at you each week, well , this is different for sure. If it works, great, we might do it more often, but right now this is a trial......nothing here is set in stone.

Next week is going to be epic, out of this world spectacular. No more hints, well, one more. 4 lefts, 6 rights.
Calculate our own fuel!!!!... 🤬 it I'll just fill the tank. Hey...here's an idea for next race to make it really interesting. Put one of each tire type on.....but then I've had more experience driving a car like that.

Even though the month we spent with the vette in PITS was tough, I still really like the car. Definitely one of the best sounding, and after hearing it for real last weekend I think SMS did a great job reproducing the sound. I had not driven the Audi before so it was a nice surprise, a really good feeling car!
The vette will return though!

Can you imagine the commentary that could be had with this group?!

"Bear seems to be having tire issues...wait whats this? Hes in the pits again? Oh dear God we have a full on brawl in Bears pit box!"

"Judging by davidtsmiths' reaction to Aero reading off the start order, he seems extremely excited to start in 7th place"

"I wont be repeating that last joke Guttermouth uttered"

"Not only did Trucker take out ALL the brake markers, he just did three barrell rolls! 9.5 from the judges!"

These would be appropriate for the last few weeks of racing

I'll try to hop on tonight to join you Mike

We will still be starting the race with a set amount of fuel, enough to get past the yellow, how far past will be changed every race. I'm hoping this will create a lot of laughs seeing who guesses right or wrong and who is quick on the edit button entering the Pits. Steve and I did three laps on the track(s) only, so we have no idea what the fuel consumption will be either. The winner of each race will set the starting fuel amount for the next race, as long as it will get us to the competition yellow or beyond.

If anyone has questions about the format, don't hesitate to ask. This is new to us too so if anyone foresees issues that might not let this work, let us know.

Incoming suggestion.

Group A with all the cars. I know, I know, but hear out this field variety nut. I have 6 tracks on which these cars are balanced to within 1 tenth of a second. With you guys always using reverse grid the different characteristics will definitely show and make for a super fun night. At your request I can balance the cars for a different track to my 6 but that will mean this night won't happen for at least 2 weeks because I have to find time to balance them.

The tracks they are balanced on are as follows:
Oschersleben GP (been done recently)
Sonoma Short
Bathurst
Catalunya National
Donington National
Nurburgring GP? (I'll have to check that one later)

Added bonus: Project Cars has been losing my setups left right and centre so the only thing I may have is the BoP for these tracks so I'd be going about as blind as everyone else.

We've run something like this as a special event before (well, a few of us have). The really cool twist was that only the pole setter of the first race was allowed to choose his vehicle type, and then everyone else was assigned a car based on the next qualification place. Say Mercedes=1, Ford=2, BMW=3. Pole chooses the Ford so 2nd gets BMW, 3rd gets Mercedes, 4th gets Ford, 5th gets BMW, etc. Then we stayed in the same cars for the rest of the night. Very fun night IMHO.

Oddly, I just realized the other night that my saved tunes are randomly disappearing/resetting to stock also! :irked::confused::mad:

Cool, I love group A cars. gR8, I remember that race, it worked well.
I was thinking along almost the same lines as Eh, but much simpler. Two cars very similar in performance.....one just a tiny bit quicker that the other, put the top 7 or 8 point getters from the week past into the slower cars and make them really have to work to win.
Cliffs idea sounds great, but a lot of work, but it looks like he has it all figured out, I don't think more tracks will be necessary. Send us the engineering plans, specs and synopsis, but most important, how you can keep it simple for us BOBs and we will try it out.

Don't forget next weeks EXTRAVAGANZA in the Lobanaro Lounge. The tension and excitement is building to a fever pitch. What could it be????

If you guys are ever looking for crazy cars to run against each other yet are still competitive, check out the link below from the (now defunct) TBC League. Shiroi_Dragon was the league owner and is an engineer, so he would compare different cars based on weight, hp/tq, gearing, etc. and it was amazing how the cars ran so close together even though they were in totally different classes. A lot of it is in German but Shi was always good about adding an English version too. It is fun to see a whale of a Mercedes SEL 300 6.8 AMG (421 hp /1635 kg) running against a Ford Escort RS 1600 (190 hp / 865 k) and an Aston Martin DBR1/300 (254 hp / 856 kg) and being wheel-to-wheel the entire race.

I have a question mike...I got my mouth washed out with soap for being a potty mouth....what did you get for showing your bum?

The work is already done for the tracks I listed, I'm just offering another track if you'd prefer to use the cars elsewhere for the given night. I'm not expecting you to use all the tracks, or even 2 of them, it's merely a list to choose from, or you can PM me a different track and I'll balance them there and then delete the tunes or start from the back all night.
