The Metal ThreadMusic

Metal Church has announced the return of former singer Mike Howe after a 20+ year absence (and going silent in general). The band is planning a new record for 2015.

Here he is singing on some of their albums from the late 80s/early 90s.

Killswitch Engage when they had Howard Jones. :)

I could say that it's fair and tolerable on why Howard had to leave the band because he had diabetes and Jason took over. And not only that but Jason was originally the lead singer for Killswitch Engage when the band first started. I do however agree with the people who say that KSE was better with Howard. When Howard Jones was in the band, it was one of those bands where the clean vocals were worth giving a damn. I really have to admit, Howard's singing was beautiful and KSE style was emotional as heck. I know it's usually all about the growls and screaming when it comes to metal core *well that's usually death metal related* but here it's not all about that. Break The Silence, Rose of Sharyn, This Fire Burns, When Darkness Falls, all are good songs.

I'm just sitting here waiting for Disturbed to release a new album already.

Hullo guys, my band has just released a new song and I'd really appreciate it if you gave it a listen. I personally wouldn't class it as metal but this seems like the most appropriate thread.

Thanks in advance xox

OH MY GOD.

I just heard that Rob Miller put together a new band. They're called Tau Cross and they're AMAZING.

This album KILLS. Sonic Mass was one of my favorite albums ever; I'm so happy these guys are still at it. I love this stuff.

Just got home after touring with Blind Guardian and wow, easily one of THE best live bands I've ever seen and they're great humans too, really nice guys and a pleasure to work with.

Go see them live if you ever get the chance!

My next work highlight will be Bolt Thrower in September and then the national tour with Nightwish, can't wait for that one \m/

Also new High on Fire came out. Damn, where have I been? It's funny-- every band that comes to mind after not hearing them for a while... I look them up and boom they have a new album out. Love it.

Any SlipKnot fans here?
Yep.

I just found a new genre of music and I find it quite fascinating. It is called Doom metal, and one of its subgenres in particular: Funeral Doom. It is about the slowest heaviest and most low pitched genre of music I have ever heard. The lyrics are extremely depressing but usually have an extreme amount of meaning. Try a band called Frowning and their album Funeral impressions. There is also a band called Draconian who are more beautiful than anything else I have ever heard.

I also like listening to Meshuggah, I bought their two latest albums and like nearly every song on them, especially Demiurge, Bleed, ObZen, and Break those bones who's sinews gave it motion.

OooooooH I`ll have to check them out then, I`m usually a depressed kind of guy. So they might be worth a try to listen to. :)

Yeah trust me it is great, and you can listen to it even if you arent feeling depressed, but if you are then it is really meaningful to liesten to the lyrics.

Thanks, I will have to check them out.

Did you guys hear The Sword's new track High Country? New album comes out August 21st. They're streaming the titular track on their website, but I ripped the link out of their javascript, so you can just download it.

Awesome, thanks for the link.
I'm not expecting something as good as Age of Winters, but I guess I'll just have to wait and see.

Does Disturbed count as Metal? If not: Sorry.

Is anyone else here excited about their new album Immortalized, or at least likes their new single The Vengeful One?

I know this isn't exactly metal, but I'm sure people would still appreciate it either way.

I missed rocking out on Vice City while doing dirtbike wheelies. So I went and got the V-Rock radio CD.

I forgot how awesome their playlist was. So amazing. 80s metal was really the best.

Have fun.

There's a metal band called Isis? Wut? Either it's a band that talks about some crazy and offensive stuff or a band that talks about politics and the government like Ministry, System Of A Down, etc.

Also I'm surprised at how a regular human being can remember this many bands and name them all. 👍
