Anyone listen to All That Remains? I found them while playing Guitar Hero 2. Their song Six is in it. Pretty fun to play too. :D

All that remains is pretty good.

How about some hardcore? Anyone listen to The Devil Wears Prada?

Anyone got the latest Sabbath album, "The Dio Years"? I have it but couldn't listen to it yet. It's a compilation of the best songs from the Dio era on Black Sabbath, all remastered, plus three new songs.

The only reason I know of Dio is because I heard Killswitch Engage's cover of Holy Diver.... :indiff:

And on a side note I very much like KsE's cover of Holy Diver.

Try Ashes of the Wake. 👍

Agree fully Ashes of the Wake is my favorite album by them and also a good album to start listening to them. My favorite overall is Killadelphia but that's not different songs it's just the same great songs live and I love live.

EDIT: Crap sorry bout double post

I'm a bit amazed you hadn't heard them before... and a bit ticked I didn't suggest them first :ouch:

I'd have to say that out of the gothic scene, the bands that stand out personally are Within Temptation, Therion and After Forever on a higher level and Lacuna Coil and Epica on a second level.

Quick question, does anyone here listen to Gorgoroth. I heard about their little demonic stunt on vh1 and would like to know if there music is any good.

to avoid starting a new thread i have a question.

What bands or cd's would you suggest for death metal ?

right now the only thing i have is Nile, which is pretty awesome but im looking for more. I heard another kid talking about lamb of god being a good band and am wondering which of their cd's you'd most recommend also.

Thank you :D

Suffocation
Origin
Decapitated
Unmerciful
Cryptopsy
Necrophagist
Entombed
Immolation

If anyone is interested, you can listen to samples of Symphony X's new album, Paradise Lost, here:

A few songs are heavier than their regular style, Russell Allen is 'screaming' more than usual.

I like it, but I just can't get over the singing. My opinion, it doesn't fit with the music. This is coming from somebody who's favorite band's singer is Randy Blythe so...

I'm sure if I listen to more of it and more often it'll grow on me.

I've got the full album already and it did surprise me. It's much heavier than their usual work, which they said it would be but I didn't think it would be that much heavier. I think some fans will be disappointed but I'm liking it so far. Got to listen to it some more before I make up my mind.

I have also grabbed Dream Theater's new work, I have to get some free time to listen to it properly.

And one last tip, there's a new Sabbath album out and it's a live one, it's called 'Black Sabbath - Live At Hammersmith Odeon'. It's a concert recorde in the 80's during the Dio era. There's some good classics on it like Heaven And Hell, Neon Nigths, Paranoid, War Pigs, etc.

Ive got my hands on a lot of good metal now, partly thanks to you guys.

I have all of metallica's albums (which are all awesome except for st. anger :yuck:), some lamb of god (also awesome), nile (which i had already said), and all of slayers albums (Still getting into it. I mostly enjoy the god hates us all cd though)

I found opeth to be a little to generic for my taste, and it was taking up alot of space on my computer.

What I have been looking into is Norwegian black metal. Anybody listen to this, and if so, which bands should i be looking into

for a guy talking about metalica and the like I'm shocked you care anything for the true kvlt black metal from norway. 👍

Opeth is too generic?!?!?

-rep!

j/k... but Opeth I think Opeth is pretty awesome, and I'm the type of guy who likes very varied rhythms and very progressive tunes... I try my best to stay away from generic

Scared me there for a second. Ive only had one +rep that i know of, and that would have really pissed me off, lol.

Opeth is good, i meant it more that i have nile to fill my need for that kind of metal. Opeth just sounds too similar for me.

Thanks to vh1, again, i found a couple more bands that interest me.

Ive been looking at cannibal corpse's album covers and they're just absolutely awesome and horrific. Problem being i was eating when i went too look, so i kind of lost my appetite.

Did you know George Fischer from cannibal corpse plays Nathan explosion. I always wanted to know who actually played him.

IMO, 'Corpse was good until Chris Barnes left... in the same way as Marillion was good until Fish left
