So did anyone know that the new Nightwish cd had been released?

Ya, I just threw it in my cd player for the first time. So far the first 1 minute and 42 seconds are awesome.

It will take me a bit to get used to the new singer though.

I like the new singer a lot. It gives the band a more...listenable sound? Not everyone wants to hear an opera singer, if you know what I mean.

Yeah, I didn't like the old singer vocal style. Maybe I'll check this new album to see if it's better.

Well, Nightwish v2.0 sounds pretty good so far. the second half of the album tends to drag a bit. I do like the second disc with just the score.

The only issue I have with the new Nightwish is that despite they have a winning formua with the music, lyrics and vocals, the inclusion of a new singer hasn't changed at all the output of the band... there's no development... which I also agree is hard to get right, since whenever a band changes singers the new one gets always the short end of the stick in all comparisons.

To a point, it seems they've tried to sound more like Within Temptation vs. Lacuna Coil, but it just doesn't get there.

What's the ex-singer doing, by the way?

You should really like them then :D

I think the previous singer has a solo career now. I know she did vocals for some DJ on a trance-y track a few months back.

:odd: That's one reason I never went by sub genre... etc. Waste of time. Next thing you're going to tell me is LP is metal...

Anyone here likes Evergrey? I got their latest album "Monday Morning Apocalypse" and I was quite surprised with it, in a good way. I'll be sure to listen to their other albums soon. 👍

Been listening to them for a long time. In Search of Truth is a great concept album and their follow-up, Recreation Day, has some killer tracks. 'The Great Deceiver' and 'Fallen' to name a few. Good live show too.

I have their album "The Inner Circle", I love the album, one of the only albums I can listen to over and over again. Never gets old to me.

edit: btw I'm listening to Judas Priest's newest one right now, and I'm having a hard time realizing how the Effing loch ness monster is So damn metal it requires a 13 minute song..

Actually, Domination by Pantera is the mostest metallist song. Which means your opinion is wrong. :p I haven't heard the aforementioned song though.

For me its Lamb of God, to me, they are the best metal act around right now. Randy is probably up there with the best metal vocalists of all time.

nvm, thank you scott (friend of mine)

I say nvm because i thought you said "🤬 lamb of god" and i ranted about it. Right after i posted it my friend read the sentence and saved me from getting flamed.

Ensiferum - Victory Songs

Viking/Folk Metal from Finland

Awesome CD.
That's their new album right? I've only heard their 'Dragonheads' EP with the new vocalist from Norther, but their older albums are awesome. You should give a listen to Wintersun. It's the band Jari Mäenpää (old guitarist/vocalist) started when he left Ensiferum. 👍

Will do. 👍

Thy Catafalque
