McLarenF1GTR - Please don't start a "Who started Metal?" argument. I hate them. It's not clearly known, but I'm pretty sure it wasn't Sabbath. There were many Metal bands formed back then, but none clearly the 1st.
Shannon and Road_Dogg33J - Pantera fall under the following according to many popular and/or well-informed sites: Metal, Heavy Metal, Thrash Metal (later albums), Alternative Metal and Partial Death Metal (Great Southern Trendkill). I just say Metal, as Heavy Metal are for bands from the 80's, Thrash is not covered in all albums, Alternative is just bull**** and Partial Death Metal? Come on, please.
I agree with Shannon here, but you have to understand we're not against you, it's obviously your preference, but we're simply discussing. We're not telling you what to listen to.
I'm fairly positive after some small research that Biohazard started Nu-Metal. Anthrax are considered Heavy Metal, but had alot of influence obviously. Korn merely made Nu-Metal popular. I may be wrong about Biohazard, but this is what I found.

ShannonI don't really care about new forms of music or whether you like them or not, nor am I telling you to stop listening to nu-metal. I'm just saying it's misplaced as a sub-genre. How can it even be considered metal if it doesn't contain any riffs, solos, etc, or even sound metalish at all? You come into a metal forum and say about nu-metal, of course you're going to get frowned upon. It's like walking into a church on Sunday morning screaming "God is a lie!".
