Now for something different. I mentioned a few posts above (albeit from two and a half years ago) the Cruelty and the Beast album by Cradle of Filth. As luck would have it, I brought up a couple of their songs on Youtube from that CD for the first time in probably a couple of years just two nights ago. The last third of this song gives me chills every time I listen to it.

First and only time I saw CoF live was when Cruelty and the Beast was launched and their tour passed through Portugal. That song was part of the set list. This was back in... 1998. :(

Something I remember from that show was that when Napalm Death were on (before CoF) Dani joined the crowd incognito and stood right next to me.

anything similar to babymetal?
Yes I know....
But guess what? It did well at sonisphere! I'll forever be a fan of their dedication and energy :)

I've listened to the 'Under a Godless Veil' album from Draconian many times over the past few years. This is a goth doom metal masterpiece. I'm still going through their other albums, but this one really stands out.

About a year ago me and my kids (8 and 10) were on our way to our local skatepark and Slipknot came through my playlist ... I thought I was pushing my luck trying to introduce Slipknot to them, but we got to the end of the song and my daughter said 'That was really cool, do you have any where they scream for the whole song' :) !

... That took me by surprise as Slipknot is about as hard as I will go, but now I have 2 little metal heads and we frequently crank a bit of Slipknot, System of a Down, Rage Against The Machine and Korn on the way to the skatepark :).

Coming to the end of a great triple header tonight.

Monday: Ministry, on great form, but I was more impressed by SIGLOS, they've got a great unique sound that works well.

Last night was the naughty nuns of Dogma.

Tonight: Kylesa, but I'm going more for Telephathy in support

New Testament (lol) sounds pretty sick. Looking forward to the album in October. Titans of Creation was a pretty good one too.

That's sad. I didn't know he was no longer in the band although I don't keep up with music news as much as I used to.

Well, the sad part is that they just broke up. Mastodon claimed it was mutual but Brent was really bitter and basically said they threw him out. Dunno if alcohol or some other psych pathology was afoot. It is tragic that he had to die on his motorcycle though. Brent had just done an extended interview about his life and origins in April though, and he seemed pretty happy-go-lucky and came across as someone who just really liked to make music.
