Lamb of God have posted two of their new songs on their website, lambofgod.tv. "Walk With Me In Hell"..... OMG, this is easily one of their best songs ever! It is absolutely incredible. If it were any more metal, you'd get blood poisoning from just listening to it.

Hmm, I'm listening to the snippets right now. Pretty good stuff. I garuntee I will be buying this album the day it is released. Anyone else hear the similarities to Pantera in "Redneck". It almost sounds as if Randy made his voice sound like Phil's on purpose. I liked it 👍.

Edit, @Time_Attack: Lamb of God aren't metalcore dude. Lamb Of God is just straight up metal.

Yeah, everyone has different opinions. I just feel the kind of metal Lamb Of God are playing will probably transform into a standard for future artists. Edit: If you have seen the Metal Documentary that came on DVD not too long ago ( I believe it was dubbed "A Headbangers Journey") It Classified Lamb Of God in the "New Wave Of American Metal" Along with other artists of what I believe were Shadows Fall, etc.

The "New Wave of American Metal" is what alot of metalcore bands like to classify themselves as. ;)

Lamb of God are definately metalcore, along with Shadows Fall.

Not to offend anyone, but I'm not sure what you see in such bands. People complain about death metal vocals sounding the same but from what I've heard of metalcore, not only do all the vocals sound the same but the music does to.

I strongly dissagree but dont really feel like debating it so whatever floats your boat.

Anyone listen to Gorguts? I've been listening to their albums Considered dead (1991) and The erosion of sanity (1993) recently and I must say they are terribly good albums. 👍

Me? I listen to just as much metalcore as I do death metal. Although, I do have a few more metalcore albums than I do death metal, as it was easier on the ears when I was just a metal n00b. ;)

I've got a few metalcore discs laying around as well... I'll admit if done well, its not the worst thing in the world. The only problem is 98% of it is terrible, ear splitting drivel. 👎

Time_Attack
Because I actually like death. ;)
 Fair enough. But remember, there are people out there (shocking though it may be) that think ALL genres/sub-genres of metal are un-listenable garbage.

And this differs from death metal how?

I've noticed death metal to be (mostly) more monotone, but in a uniformed way. Metalcore tends to take too many traits from different metal styles, in an effort ot make themseves different from other -core bands. The other qualm U have with -core is the vocals. Death metal has some shrieking, but not a lot since it's mostly grunting, and grunting a like a lot. But -core isn't even shreaking, it's all-out screaming but with an overall effort to make it sound distorted.

Maybe because of my lack of in-depth knowledge in more -core music, but I've noticed a certain technique in death metal grunting... you notice different styles of grunting, like that of Deicide or Cannibal Corpse or Dying Fetus. But with the -core bands, I honestly can't tell the difference.

The music on the other hand, is quite good. If most of these -core bands were instrumental I think I 'd be much more into them.

To me, it's either singing or it isn't. If the difference in metal sub-genres is in the vocals, I won't be able to tell them apart. It's all just screeching :)

i think the difference is in the vocals and the speed of the music. for example, if you take FearFactory, the drumming is damn fast, but the vocals are "normal" so it's no death-metal. but if you take the band Death, the drumming is even faster than FF and the vocals are a hell of a scream/grunt/.... so it's not only the vocals, but i think the vocals are the biggest difference in the sub-genres!

Right.

Death Metal itself is not so much about the vocals but more about the lyrics, which focus mainly on death as a metaphor of good life. Also bands such as Cannibal Corpse's lyrics focus mostly on necrophilia and murder. The band Death went a bit further and incorporated lyrics about philosophy and nihilism. The abrupt tempo and rhythm changes are also a key feature of Death metal, with extremely compley guitar and drum work.

As to it beng instrumental, I'm still to hear a band which is completely instrumental and completely death metal at the same time. Fear Factory is more technical metal, and they do have grunts... or at least the last time I heard them.

Granted, the vocals aren't particularly easy to understand, but you can see their artwork and maybe even read the lyrics in the booklets. The song names also are a giveaway. Like:

- Death (the band): Nothing is Everything, The Philosopher, Lack of Comprehension, Overactive Imagination.
- Cannibal Corpse: ****ed with a Knife, Meat Hook Sodomy, She Was Asking For It, Vomit the Soul.
- Dying Fetus: Born in Sodom, Raped on the Altar, Vomiting the Fetal Embryo.

You get the idea.

I just downloaded stripped, raped and strangled (CC) and was rather suprised when some dumb chick comes on and starts talking about rape.

Not exactly what I remember hearing before... Is this just a different version or is it something someone edited?

it's some stupid version some jerk made with Tori Amos speaking. I found it very hard to find the unaltered version.... had to get the original album (The Bleeding).

oh, and you didn't download it... you acquired it ;)

Ah yes... I "acquired" it... The bleeding isnt in major stores (pretty much all we have here) and I dont really wanna pay an arm and a leg to buy the whole album online.

I searched a few times for the normal version but the only one without her dumbass on it was the live version which honestly the vocals just dont fit the song. I love this song in its normal version so I'm really pissed that I couldnt find the normal version.

I havent been listening to CC much recently but now I remember why I liked them. Fu(ked with a knife... Classic.
