That album is like a big kick in the nuts, in a good way. 👍

Bjorn "Speed" Strid from Soilwork does the harsh vocals BTW.

That's good to know. 👍

And what’s Opeth? It is so different from the rest I’ve been listening until today. I like it. It is very calm, and it seems good to help me fall asleep at night.

As in, what genre? They generally are referred as Progressive Death Metal, which I agree. But they incorporate a lot of different things, jazzy drumming, acoustic interludes, layered vocals, etc. The acoustic sections are some of the most beautiful music I've heard.

If you're into the awesome acoustic thing, check out "Closure" off of their Damnation album (I think.) That song has like 5 of the most awesome guitar riffs I've heard. 👍👍👍

^I have three thumbs.

Thanks. They are cool.
I also loved Disarmonia Mundi

Has anyone into Divine Heresy? The new Dino Cazares band?
I love the band, and the drummer must be on of the fastest in the world of Metal. 👍
Here is a video:

That drummer is fast, no doubt. Have you heard Panzerchrist? Their drummer, Reno Kiilerich, is one of the fastest in the world. The album Room Service is clearly demonstrative of that.

edit: here's a video-

Geeze, how many bpm is that?

Disarmonia Mundi- Fragments of D-Generation

Melodic Death from Italy

Apart from the name, this album is badass. They have one of the best harsh vocalists IMO, although I pay relatively little attention to vocals/lyrics.

Holy and wow. That cd is amazing. Is this Bjorn's side project or something?

double post to bump the thread.

Have any of you guys ever heard of Blood Stain Child? They are a melodic death metal band from Japan and are quite good if I do say so my self. 👍

Don't know them but a surprising amount of metal comes out of Japan. If you're into the whole "Avant-garde progressive black metal" scene  check out Sigh. Just look at this album cover. Awesome, in a creepy way.

It's definitely an acquired taste, I might add. :indiff:

I didn't want to double post on the Prog Thread so I'll just make my comment here.

I finally got both Circus Maximus' albums - Isolate has just been released by the way - but I only had a quick listen to them this morning on my way to work. I got to say though that I liked what I've heard so far.

I liked it a lot indeed, which worries me a bit because I usually get tired pretty quick of bands that I instantly like. The bands I mostly listen to are the ones that grow on me with time, if you know what I mean. I hope this isn't the case though as I would hate to get tired of Circus Maximus.

Anyway if you like prog bands like Dream Theater, Symphony X, Rush, etc... I think you'll enjoy this too. 👍

Yeah, Circus Maximus is top notch. I was a bit disappointed in Isolate. I still have to give it a proper listen though. Fans of Dream Theater's technical wizardry will enjoy Biosfear off of the first album. 👍

I don't know if many of you here watch Metalocolypse but Dethklok is coming out with an album on the 25th. It will feature all of the songs from the show (extended of course) and some new ones. I cant wait :D

There will also be a new episode on the 25th. It should be an awesome episode especially considering "The metalocolypse has begun"

I've listened to the Dethklok album, it's pretty good. I'm not too familiar with the show though, I've only watched it once or twice.

Haven't listened to In Flames in awhile but I just picked up Come Clarity and I think it's awesome. 👍 I love his voice so much, not the screaming though although his screaming is superb as well but when he just. .. uh sings. His voice is excellent.

Crap. I had a long post about Death Metal vocals, and their acquired taste, but I accidently closed the window. :banghead:

@ ßlackbird, the song 'Scream' off that album is awesome.

Scream is the only song I usually skip over on that album. I find it pretty annoying.

"They scream, You scream, I scream
We scream" = meh...

Now that I listen to it, its pretty good, but they screwed with a bunch of songs that sounded perfect in the show. Most of the songs that I really like from the show sound like crap on the cd :(

As in you think Sevendust is metal, please

I saying "Sorta like an annoying Saliva imo" doesn't imply that i like saliva, which i don't. It implies that i have heard Saliva before, and find the above band to be slightly more annoying than they are.

Then shouldn't you have said 'Sort of like a more annoying Saliva', but enough about that...
