freekin' non-alliance geeks

I liked 'corpse better with Chris Barnes.

Same, but I never liked Six Feet Under (which is funny because they sound pretty similar.)

I love how he gets so unnecessarily pissed talking about Paladins etc.

Wow, the new In Flames album is cool. I bitter more mellow and calm, I reckon, but I like it, it's different.
The full album is on their MySpace to listen. It is a sure buy for me; I liked what I've heard (much like the full album). 👍
Serious? IMO, the new album is an abortion gone wrong. I thought with Come Clarity they might have tried to swing the ship around and head back to their roots, but with A Sense of Purpose they've done a complete U turn and gone back to generic boring crap. All the songs sound the same, the lyrics are lame ('I feel like ****, but at least I feel something'), the production is crap and my god - where has the awesome dual guitar riffing and the melodies gone?

It's painful to see one of my favourite bands fall so far. Jester Race, Whoracle and Colony were just epic albums. They should really put their instruments down and release a greatest hits album already.

I'm with you on this, Shannon.

I bought the album, being the good little consumer that I am. Played it on the way home in the car. Jumped online when I made it home, and put it up on Ebay. I was baffled and enraged. In Flames was once one of the greats. Now they're losing everything they built up. Too bad.

BTW, hey there, Shannon. Long time no see. Good to see you're still around standing up for good taste! A voice of reason, that will hopefully "Trigger" a new "Colony" of true metal heads. 👍

;)

I checked out Carnival in Coal and I thought it was good and sounded very original. The first song I heard of theres was "****able" I first questioned it, but continued listening and was happily surprised. :)

A lot of the time when lyrics and/or vocals aren't my cup of tea, I ignore them. 💡 That's how I can live with the atrocious vocals from After The Burial. Check 'em out, they're kind of Meshuggah-ish with low tunings and polyrhythms, but they have a much more "deathcore" feel.

Yea dude, they arent bad at all. Ive heard of them. I listen to music like them. Not so much "metal" more hardcore, but listen to Emmure if you like music like After the burial. They are pretty much my favorite band.

On a different note, any Suicide Silence fans here?

I don't remember if I've ever posted about Disarmonia Mundi before, but everyone needs to go listen to then right now. Fking amazing band. Bjorn Strid of Soilwork does most of the vocal work for them. Seriously awesome music in the form of video to follow.

The song is Nihilistic Overdrive on their cd Mind Tricks.

I came up with Overkill recently, and I gotta say they have the most underrated stuff I 've listened to. Their thrash metal is really awesome 👍👍👍

I believe I introduced you to them, CD. ;)

I think my fav. song by them is 'Quicksand Symmetry' off of the (poorly titled) album 'Fragments of D-Generation'.

Yeah they have some huge thing against Trivium (both Floridian.) All the members are really good with their instruments, especially the guitar and drum work. Fav. songs off the album are (going off memory here)

Riders of The Plague
Dead and Gone
World Divides ()
Into the Pit

World Divides is simply amazing, as indicated by the drool smiley. :dopey:

Cool album art too:

Yeah, Trivium is from Orlando so I can see some sort of rivalry. Probably due to the fact that Trivium is metal core and uh, people make fun of metalcore.

You melodic death heads should check out The Absence - Riders of the Plague
Yeah, I've known about them for awhile now. Easily one of the best melodeath acts to come out of America. Check out their first album, "From Your Grave", as well. It's very At The Gate-ish, but still damn awesome.

Apparently if you take a Trivium shirt to one of their concerts, you can trade it in for an Absence shirt afer the show. At some point they're going to burn all the Trivium shirts they collect. That alone makes them ten times more awesome. 👍

I think I've recommended them at the some point in this thread before, but anyway, if you like The Absence check out Enforsaken as well.

Do the real musicians look like their cartoon counterparts?...

And regarding TA's ROTP, my favorite song is actually 'The Murder'.

Haha no they don't, from what I've seen on Youtube. But it looks like they play cartoon footage on a screen behind them and don't shine any lights on the actual band.

I just missed a Behemoth and Dimmu Borgir concert

My friend of gave me a ride if I bought my ticket.... It was only $25 to. Even though I doubt my parents would of let me go.... They don't trust me.

My friend probably went to the same one. Not a huge fan of either band, but I would love to watch DM's drummer play The Chosen Legacy:

 3:11 in

Anyone here heard of "Arsis"?

A friend of mine introduced me to them recently. Fantastic guitarist/vocalist, and the drummer has impeccable timing. I'm not usually big on Black Metal style vocals, but this guy has a great range... From deep growl, to high pitched scream. 👍

Old News Alert

Scar Symmetry finished recording their third album "Holographic Universe" and it will be released somewhere in May.

scarsymmetry.com
(March 2, 2008)

The recording of the third Scar Symmetry album, entitled "Holographic Universe", is finished! The album will feature 12 songs (we actually recorded 13 songs but excluded one to avoid bad luck ;-)) and the material upholds the musical standard and diversity of the first two albums, but the songs also showcase the evolution of the band since "Pitch Black Progress". In other words, the material of the upcoming album displays additional twists and turns that evolves the sound of the band without losing its key ingredients musically. The tracklist goes as follows:

1. Morphogenesis
2. Timewave Zero
3. Quantumleaper
4. Artificial Sun Projection
5. The Missing Coordinates
6. Ghost Prototype I (Measurement of Thought)
7. Fear Catalyst
8. Trapezoid
9. Prism and Gate
10. Holographic Universe
11. The Three-Dimensional Shadow
12. Ghost Prototype II (Deus Ex Machina).

Arsis = awesome drum work. I really like them. 👍

Scar Symmetry = Awesome band. Can't wait for the new album.

Disarmonia Mundi is releasing a new album this year too. I hope Bjorn Strid from Soilwork is still doing their vocals.
