 That whole palm-muted section sounds like it was recorded using a distorted bass drum. Where can I buy 16's? :p.

There's a note (I think) @ 1:51

I have 13's on my seven string  br00tal y0, that way I can tune down to negative diminished C flat flat 5 tuning of death times infinityhundred.

Say wha???

You are right Ceiling_fan, After the Burial is absolutely amazing, but I still don’t get that breakdown neither with the explanation. I tried to put my volume in the maximum to see if I can herd anything, or those cymbals they are talking and nothing, but the rest is very cool. 👍

Did anyone listen to one of the best and more underrated album of 2008?
Moonspell - Night Eternal - is simply their best album, has well has one of the best albums of 2008. It is consistent, has a great sound, it is simply one of the best.

Here some of my Favorites songs:

Night Eternal:

Scorpion Flower:

Here's a great Finnish folk metal band that I just learned about in all of places...cracked.com!

Name is Ensiferum (Latin for sword bearing). They have a great mix of modern death metal, and traditional Norwegian folk music. Here's a few songs:

Token of Time

Lai Lai Hei (First couple verses are in Finnish)

Wanderer

Gonna ask for a few of their albums for my birthday. :D

LdS
Scorpion Flower:

Wow that's an awesome song. I dig the guest appearance by Anneke. I didn't even realize her new project had put out an album. Seems like yesterday that I read she left The Gathering. Looks like I have to go find some more CDs.

So.... I bought a ticket along with my friend to go see Lamb of God, Children of Bodom, and As I Lay Dying April 4th. :D

I saw CoB a few years ago in a small joint. Frickin' awesome! God Forbid was an opener, and not too bad. The other opener was some HORRIBLE band called Through the Eyes of the Dead. They were the worst part, other than the smelly fat chick who I got stuck behind.

Where is it at?

Well, It's at my town at a university stadium. The tour is No Fear Energy Music Tour.

Icarus: Yeah God Forbid is also playing as well as Municipal Waste. I listened a little bit of a both and God Forbid doesn't seem bad but Municipal Waste doesn't sound good IMO, I'll deal with it though.

My recent obsessions.

Best video I could find of Babylon.

I can't stop listening to these songs...

And when I get my new computer coming in, I'm going to make a 6 CD metal play list for my new car (6 cd changer in it) for cruising around! :D I'll post here what the lineup is... and you can beat your sweet little dandelion hearts that the above four songs will be on it.

Hey, I'm going to that gig too :)

AILD dropped off the tour for our date but I really don't like them anyway so I'm not complaining. Mostly going to see CoB again, they are great live. I've seen them at SJSU before for last year's Gigantour, it's a pretty good metal venue.

Sorry Overkill I didn't see you post but I definetly went last night and damn, Lamb of God never fails to put on a show. I'm kind of opposite on AILD being dropped for Suicidal Tendencies. Considering I listen to AILD and don't listen to ST at all but they weren't bad actually. I got there when God Forbid was finishing up their last song which was unfortunate but oh well. Municipal Waste was cool but they aren't my style so meh. Children of Bodom was alright I don't really listen to them and they didn't play the song I was hoping they'd play. But the wait was so worth LoG. I definetly liked this venue more then the one I went to in Long Beach mostly because it's smaller. Walk With Me In Hell was insane for some reason but the crowd went absolutely nuts to that song and so did I. In all the whole gig was really good and great fun.

From what I can remember in order:

The Passing(they didn't play; recording)
then straight into In Your Words just like the album
Set To Fail
Walk With Me In Hell
Hourglass
Now You've Got Something To Die For
Grace
Dead Seeds
Broken Hands
Laid To Rest
Ruin
Reclamation
Black Label

That's All I can remember. The first few songs are in order after that that's probably not in order but Reclamation and Black Label were the last songs.

The beginning. The video does not do it justice it was effing epic. I'll have to say In Your Words has got to about the best intro they have.

Note: not my video

I remember hearing LoG & CoB were coming to San Jose :p

I finally listened to Adagio's new album and I hate to say it, but meh. Their last two albums took time to grow on me, but at this point they're in my top 15 albums evAr list. Many of my favorite bands' recent releases have been meh to mediocre (Opeth, Children of Bodom, and another one besides Adagio I can't remember (edit: After The Burial). Exceptions are Meshuggah (duh) and, surprisingly, Trivium (they were heading down the wrong path imo.)

.....
I'll post my top 25, I HAD over 100 gigs of music on my old computer (of which are metal, then i'll post my favourite bands from the genres of which i listen to a lot of bands that have that genre).

After the Burial
Anal ****
Arch enemy
Arsonists get all the girls
August burns red
Beneath the sky
Born of osiris
Bring me the Horizon
Bullet for my valentine
Caliban
Dimmu borgir
Dr. Acula
Heaven shall burn
I killed the prom Queen
Impending doom
In flames
Job for a cowboy (prefer the E.P. doom to the album genesis)
Killwhitneydead
Knights of the abyss
Lamb Of God
Nightwish
pantera
Parkway drive
UnderOath
Whitechapel

Death metal:Arch Enemy
Grindcore:Anal ****
Deathcore:Whitechapel
Metalcore:Parkway drive

and other than that all i listen to is mathcore+hardcore (+Post-hardcore) But would you class that as metal?

Job for a cowboy (prefer the E.P. doom to the album genesis)

DOOM is cool, can't stand anything they've done since then.

Some many cores  But yeah, I would consider that as metal, moreso than Sludge Metal at least. :dunce: What post-hardcore stuff do you listen to? (I'm not really sure what the term "post-hardcore" even implies...) Wikipedia used to have Meshuggah* labeled as "Technical Post-Thrash" which seemed actually quite fitting. Best metal genre name EVAH is Yiddish Grindcore, which would be something like Betzefer or Salem (not a fan of either of those bands though :dopey:)

*Hopefully I don't get banned for spamming this thread with Meshuggah in every post :p

Since I can't choose between them my favourite post hardcore band would be:
Escape the fate (song:This was is ours (the guillotine part 2))

Destroy the runner (song:Mono:Crumbs for the murder)

Mathcore wise it would be The fall of Troy, and Protest the Hero.

Disarmonia mundi is a very cool band, my favourite track by them is still Celestial Furnance, the different voices on it are very good matching.

I don't know why, but every time I listen to that song (Mind Tricks), the intro part remembers me of this song:
In Flames - Take this life

Latly I've been listening to this band too much, and can't stop listening to this music. I love it, I love the vocals of it and the guitar work is pretty good also.
Daysend - No Regrets

I'm loving The Black Dahlia Murder so much I'm trying to learn some of their easy songs on guitar. Not sure if they are metalcore or deathcore. I like both.

I'm really liking Children of Bodom and All Shall Perish. ASP has some the best guitar skillz I've heard in deathlcore. I hope to get so good I want to start a band before i turn 35. currently 30..... I guess based on wiki im a major fan of deathcore.

Some told me to try Suicide Silence, they are awful sounds like noise and theres zero melody, harmony or anything that screams talent. No solos, no variation in vocals and just plain meh. Not my type. I also dont rally like Job for a Cowboy, Maybe I just have the wrong CD.

Here is me trying to play a song I made. I guess its metalcore? Its in Step down 2 like what TBDM plays in.

Disarmoni Mundi is excellent. I can't wait for their new cd. It should be released pretty soon I think.

Anyone else into Machine Head? I've had their album The Blackening for a while now and I really like it so I finally decided to check out their older stuff...I'm glad I did. 👍 👍

edit: Anyone ever heard of the band Psychostick? Comedy metal at its finest. :D

Machine Head is that SHYTZZZ!!! Easy one of my favorite bands, and The Blackening is probably one of my all time favorite metal CD's.

Never heard of Psychostick but I will check them out in a bit.

Right now I am listening to Slipknot's first CD and comparing it to their new one... My god have they gone down hill... Their first CD is full of epicness, and Vol 3 has a lot of good stuff.. But whats with the new one? I personally think they need to back to Iowa and live out in a barren barn and do more stupid **** like they did when they were teens. Then write about it and they could probably get another good CD with out all that MTV influence.

I've never really liked Slipknot or nu metal in general despite loving Limp Bizkit, lol.
loving Limp Bizkit
loving Limp Bizkit
