I am battered and exhausted, but my god it was an amazing gig. Was right up front for the entire set, Matt's guitars were just works of art... Overture into Stockholm Syndrome was a pretty slick transition... Oh yeah and instead of Feeling Good we got Cave! :D Kinda sad I'll never really see them play a set with songs mostly from the first three albums, but it was a brilliant gig and the crowd wasn't full of dicks.

EDIT: And we got MK Ultra too. :D

Mk Ultra?! Dam you:P Was incredible to see them though.

In more Muse news relating to gigs, they have just announced a stadium tour next year, including from the UK, the Manchester cricket ground and Wembley Stadium for a second time, defo going to try for tickets.

Edit: And now I have tickets! YAY!

THEY MAY COME TO MEXICO IN APRIL, AGAIN!!!

I'm anxious. I want it confirmed. I want tickets. Now.

Got their new album for a fiver from Play. 'Tis very good, very, very good. They are a very talented group, and I need to get some of their other albums at some point.

Learned the bassline to "Resistance" today. Took about 20 minutes to figure out the notes, 45 minutes or so of practicing, and then I recorded it with the album track:

This album has a lot of great bass tracks, but this one is probably my favorite. It's easier to play than it sounds, and it just sounds so cool! I <3 Chris.

Great cover! I learned Resistance awhile back on bass and it's certainly good fun, although I play it without a pick :)

CONFIRMED!!!!!!!! April 20, a less than a kilometer from my house!! I'm getting them damned tickets tomorrow (:

Damn... now I need to force-feed Resistance into me... I really want to loose my voice there! here is to some unlimited listening from here to april!!

MUSE are playing here in HK next month. I can't believe I hadn't heard of them until (embarassingly) hearing Assassin on Guitar Hero and thinking it was incredible, followed by Knights of Cydonia double-incredible. Granted I'm a total MUSE n00b, but everything I've heard by them I have loved. Considering going to see them but I imagine the tickets are sold out by now.

You should get Spotify or something similar and check some of their other songs out, if you liked Assassin and Knights of Cydonia you should like most of their other stuff. I would imagine they are sold out by now, if it's anything like the UK over there then they would probably be sold out within a hour or so of the tickets going on sale.

Am I the only one who thinks the title track on the new album (The Resistance) is (with the exception of one other track) the worst track on the album? It's pretty much the only one they play on the radio, but the rest of the album is better.

Resistance is a ok track, it's not amazing but it's not their worst to date. It's probably being played lots because its going to be the next single. And seeming Undisclosed Desires didn't do particularly well in both the US and UK charts I guess they just started playing it early. But the radio edit of Resistance is rubbish anyway, they seem to cut lots of bits out.

Much like they did with KoC, that was just awful after the editing and as a result I simply couldn't listen to it.

I actually find Resistance to be one of my favourites on the album, along side Part 3 of Exogenesis, other than those I didn't find any of the tracks to be quite as addictive as past album material.

I can't personally remember the radio edit for KoC, I don't tend to listen to the radio anymore but I can imagine that it was cut pretty durastically.

My favourites are MK Ultra, Unnatural Selection and Uprising as well as Resistance they are the main ones which stick out for me on this album. Exogenesis is in a class of its own and can't really be compared to anything Muse have ever done IMO.

The past material is better, but I guess the band is evolving with age.

I've got my tickets here in my hand, they...

*falls off of hand, dogs eat them*

Oh crap...

Nah, seriously, I got them way before general sale thanks to the fan sale at muse.mu. about 190 usd worth of tickets.

I'm now reading lyrics.

and I agree with your favorites Speedster, I think for me Unnatural Selection is the one that does it.

I got to see Muse for the first time this past March in Philadelphia. I was lucky to even get tickets since I surprised my sister that day by spontaneously going and hoping for ANY kind of seats. We ended up in the sixth row on the side of the stage :sly: This was, without question, hands down better than any show I've seen before, and that's definitely saying something. I liked their previous albums, especially Black Holes & Revelations, but The Resistance takes the cake. Seeing these guys live is an experience in itself. The lights, the lasers, the stage, the crowd...just singing Knights of Cydonia with twenty thousand other fans is reason enough to go.

A show that still leaves you goosebumps anytime you think about it is beyond epic.

This is a bit of a bump, but I thought I'd inform you that I'm off to my first ever gig on Friday! I'm off to see Muse at Wembley with a friend. Hopefully it'll be what I've been hoping for ever since I got into Muse. I'm standing too! I'll give a event write up afterwards of course. :P

Awesome! Standing is the only way to go with Muse (not a bad band to lose your gig virginity to as well)!

If you see a ginger guy selling beer that night, tell him that Lloyd sends his regards. :)

Hehe, it was great fun. I'll do a kind of review, but it'll probably be a bit biased anyway. :P

So we didn't turn up as early as I'd hoped (at about 5:30pm) the doors had been open for a hour or so. What was slightly dissapointing was missing the White Rabbits, they were the only supporting band that were worth being interested in. Needless to say The Big Pink and Lily Allen were pretty dreadful/boring. Especially The Big Pink. Seriously, me and my mate were certain they were miming, we watched the drummer for quite some time and what she was playing didn't match to what we could hear. Lily Allen was boring, but that's probably because I don't like her, or her music and I was on tender hooks waiting for Muse to start after her. But other people seemed to like her.

At this point we had managed to work ourselves forward and were standing quite near the stage now. (The stage is essentially a T shape piece, with the straight long piece coming into the crowd like a walkway and we were near the security barrier at this walkway). I was actually really pleased that we had such a good view.

Muse came on at 8:45 and finished off at 11:00. They were perfect, I really enjoyed it. Sure, Saturday got a much, much better setlist but it allows me to be able to go to other Muse gigs in future and be able to hear songs I've not heard before. Which is good. :)

Here is the setlist:

Uprising
Supermassive Black Hole
New Born
Neutron Star Collision (Love Is Forever)
Butterflies & Hurricanes
Guiding Light
Interlude + Hysteria
Nishe
United States of Eurasia
I Belong To You
Feeling Good
MK Jam
Undisclosed Desires
Resistance
Starlight
Time is Running Out

Encore 1:
Soldiers Poem
Exogenesis Part 1: Overture
Stockholm Syndrome

Encore 2:
Take A Bow
Plug in Baby
Knights of Cydonia

So not a bad setlist, sure we missed out MOTP, CE, RBS, Bliss and MK Ultra (which Saturday got) but atleast it gives me something to look forward too next time. :) I have complaints with the way the band performed or anything like that. The only issue was that the crowd immediately behind us were...idiots to put it politely they were moshing to every song and were well past having just a few drinks. They didn't seem like particularly big Muse fans and just wanted to hear a couple of tracks, but when people mosh to every song it doesn't give you a chance to breathe.

But as I said, I loved it. I really can't wait till next time (whenever that is). My favourite song of the night? It's a tough one to call, Butterflies & Hurricanes was really good, as was New Born, Stockholm, Take A Bow, Plug in Baby and Knights. Knight's was probably my favourite, there's a certain atmosphere which comes along with the song. That build up is superb, I won't ever forget it.

I got a couple of video's but they were shaky, mainly because I was having fun. Which..let's face it is the whole idea of the gig. :)

New Born

MK Jam

Undisclosed Desires

Plug in Baby

Knights of Cydonia

I did more, but I'm not going to share them all. But still, epic gig. I definitely want to go and see them more.

I'm going to see Muse in Sydney in December!! My first gig as well!! and 5 days later, i'm going to U2 360. an epic week if you don't mind.

Hehe! Have fun! It's insane, nothing prepares you for it. Make sure you drink stuff though, you get dehydrated really quickly! It does indeed sound like your in for a epic week. :D

Metric was gonna play in Mexico two weeks ago, but they canceled. I was absolutely bummed. I was gonna attend the festival just to (finally) see them. I was so pissed off I didn't even go.

A week later, I found out why they cancelled. They opened for Muse in several shows in USA and Canada.

Muse.

And Metric.

At the same show.

My head cannot handle so much awesome.

Any of you people went to any of these shows? I would have killed to attend.

MUSE IS AWSOME!!! Just saw them in Sydney, and they were Freakin' Awsome!!! best night of my life.

Took some video, but I need to upload and edit, etc, so links soon, but still, awsome

played a not as many songs as speedster saw, but still good

songs included (not all, or in order. Can't remember it all [how depressing is my memory?])
Uprising
Resistance
NEW BORN!!!!
HYSTERIA!!!!
SUNBURN!!
Time is running out
House of the rising sun (1st verse, all sung by crowd)
United States of Eurasia
Map of the Problematique
PLUG IN BABY!!! (end main set)
Undisclosed Desires
Knights Of Cydonia (end song)
Exogenesis part 1
STOCKHOLM SYNDROME!!!
Citizens Erased
Starlight (better than expected)

Would have loved to have seen Bliss, Dead Star, Butterflies & Hurricanes, Mk Ultra, and Unnatural Selection, but no complaints whatsoever. really suprised when Matt Bellamy broke out into Sunburn! (and for the record, he was wearing a shiny mirror-ball like suit). Also, didn't see many twi-hards. Bonus!

IT WAS AWeSOME!!!!

Did you go to the Thursday or Fri show? I went to the Thursday show and was blown away 👍 Epic, really was. My only beef was no 'Invincible' or 'Futurism' but it was still wall-to-wall hits for 90+ mins. :)

Nice to see Muse are varying up the setlists compared to the usual, also you guys got Sunburn and Citizen Erased and Map of the Probelmatique! I'm quite jealous, I went to Wembley and didn't get any of them. That said, we got Butterflies & Hurricanes :P

Oh and granturismite I got a large amount of songs because they were doing the Stadium tour when I saw them rather than the arena tour they are doing over in Aus right now.

I like Muse very much but I don't like how they got much softer over the years. I miss the old Muse (Showbiz, Hullabaloo, Origin of Symmetry)

I went on the thursday. the Friday show got Bliss and Butterflies & Hurricanes, but i still loved our show.

In fact, I was fortunate enough to see U2 five days later in Sydney, and I must say I enjoyed Muse more. Bono has good crowd interaction, but Mr. Bellamy and co seem to cover this with just riffs, etc, rather than speaking. and you do pay to see the musician, not the personatilty. (and I got massivley sunburnt legs queuing for goood floor spots for u2. it still hurts 👎)

And.... How massively cool were Matt's piano and Dom's floor toms? anyone?

Well it's that time of year again. The time of year where we get a Christmas present from Muse! In previous years we've had pro-shot footage from various gigs, but this year is really something special in my mind. Even if you don't like the band you have to appreciate the technology involved.

This time we've been given a amazing 360 degree view of the Wembley concert (not sure what date), they've given us two songs to choose from; Uprising and Citizen Erased and there are various camera angles to pick. What makes this present even better is the way we can zoom in and out and rotate the camera around to find a angle, or look at the things which interest us the most. I've seen this done before with photographs but never video, and it really provides a endless amusement finding little things that were going on. Whether it's the crowd or the band themselves. The list of camera angles is below;

Matt - Guitar (Front Left)
Matt - Piano (Rear Left)
Dom - Drums (Centre)
Morgan - Synth & Drums (Rear Right)
Chris - Bass (Front Right)
Audience - (Far Front)
Platform - (Front)

Link to Video

Enjoy it! I certainly did! 👍
