The next tuner challenge..

If the Touge bit of the next Tuner Challenge requires N-grades, I'm safe. If it doesn't, I'm REALLY safe. If there's a downforce cap, I'm safe. If there's not a downforce cap, I'm safe. If no wings are allowed, I'm safe.

Think stable... Very stable. As in... Almost impossible to get sideways on N2s despite 304 ft-lbs of torque multiplied by a 2.324 second gear feeding into a rear diff with 3.538 gears. Takes a LOT to bust the tail loose.

As far as I know, TCv3 will be a sports-tire event - Kent will make the call on that and I'm not going to say anymore about it so as not to steal his thunder. :sly:

The challenge we're planning (which, for the sake of simplicity, let's start abbreviating "Budget Build Challenge/Touge Showdown" or "BBC/TS") will likely use S-tires for the BBC phase, and N-tires for the TS phase.

I think you'll be hard done by entering that Spoon, plus these entrants have to be your own tune- on every little detail. No settings borrowed from another tuner. See the problem? Just enter a normal EK Civic Type R or something and tune it your own way if you still want an EK Civic.

i didn't say i would enter the Spoon Civic here, did i?? :) and besides, tuner cars are not allowed.., Production cars only, remember?? :sly:

No Holden never made a VQ, they went straight from VP to VR

Brrrr. Wrong answer, don't pass go, don't collect $200, start supporting Fords. :P

VQ was created...that was the model name given to the Statesman/Caprices of the VP Generation. ;)

As for the VQ motor, you have the VQ35 that's in the G35/SkylineGT & GT-8/350Z, and also the VQ30 motor that's in the cheaper V35 3.0L Skyline.

As for TCv3, I'm down for the budget side of this comp....I'd like to see HOW cheap Kent wants us to go.

Well if it is on, whether it's budget or Touge, I don't care...it's all good RJ. Creating a BTCC clone as we speak (more for my own amusement more than anything) so if Touge goes ahead it will be ready for that. ;)

I don't count Statesman model designations, they should call all Statesmans and Caprices the same as the Commodore they're based off. In fact, the only Commodore based Statesman I can identify is the WM. But I do remember there was a VQ Statesman.

@ CLS and RJ, the only Infiniti G in the game is the ugly sedan. I'd take the G37 Coupe over the Skyline any day- but not that butt ugly sedan, no way. So it is surely a Nissan, I don't think RJ would tune a sedan anyway- would you? Not for a tuner challenge.

G35 Coupe is not in the game unless you count the Skyline Coupe as one. Unless this is something that NTSC gets and PAL doesn't.
*rushes off to check car lists*

Edit: That is stupid, NTSC gets an Infinti G20 1990 and a G35 Coupe. PAL gets a Skyline Coupe and a Nissan Primera 1990. They are the same cars in both versions except for the labels. You don't get those Nissans and we don't get those Infintis. I want the Infinitis.

come to think of it, i don't see Vauxhall anywhere in my copy.., why is PD doing this?? 👎

because back then they still had to deal with area codes in order to prevent piratism.. but now piratism is practically useless since Blu-rays etc are area code free. in other words, you can watch a freaking Hong Kong Blu-ray in Brazilian PS3 if you want to.

Back to TCV3, do I expect the rules up by tommorrow? I might still enter 1 category and judge the rest.

if there will be N3 class with unlimited budget, count me in. My 120i is ready to show how the traction and lack of it should be mixed for very entertaining handling.

my weapon of choice for the N3 class if there will be one. I've been polishing it for almost two weeks, and I believe it's beginning to be sorted out.. I'm still considering possible turbo power over NA.. :mischievous: but it's already pulling off under 8 minute laps at Nurb while being safe AND entertaining.
