The next tuner challenge..

^I'm down for that. Glad to see another Best Motoring fan, as well.

Each division would have a specific assigned track to tune for, and a specific panel of judges would be determined in advance to pass verdict on each division.

With this many divisions, it would probably have to be a two-phase event like the VTC though.

Thoughts?
I'm down for that, too.

Kent, I also originally though that there wouldn't be enough interest to support an N-class competition as well, but now that it's being discussed, enough people have mentioned interest that I think, as a part of a two phase competition that also includes S-tires, it could fly. So you might just get your wish! 👍 It's up to those who have an interest in such a battle to determine what the "theme" is, but both that you've mentioned (NA vs. FI and FF vs RWD) seem reasonable.

I'm pretty excited for this event. I've (partially out of boredom) decided to whip up a DC2 that can do Infineon Stock Car Course in 1'32 flat, with 215ps :)

I like Kent's idea, but add a third category for Supercharger, like someone else said. I'm also down with N tires, seeing as I'll probably drift my way to a better time:scared:

so, you too are interested in the Supercharger idea that i suggested..,

If you could work around the time issue, the fact that you haven't been around much recently might actually be a POSITIVE - no prejudices to certain tuners, no affiliation with any of the current tuner garages, etc etc. It puts you in a somewhat unique position of unbiased disinterest.

i think CLS is right, EG6_DUDE.., you still have that reputation here in GTP.., 👍

Cool.

I feel I can make FWD fly. ;)

i want to see FWDs, FWD power!! 👍:D:tup:

yes, many would accept an aspiration battle (NA vs Forced Induction), i agree with that.., (nods head) BTW, is there a "nod-head" smiley here in GTP Forums??

No there isn't, not that I've ever seen. I think the tide is washing towards an N tyre aspiration battle. I would like to judge that one.

So . . . What is up on the table at this moment? I have seen quite a few suggestions posted, but what is in and what is out?

Do you think we should make a multi vote poll with all the agreed upon options available?

there hasn't been definitive yay or nay for anything yet. let the ideas roll, then vote for the best ones, pick the winners and then some good old mix and match..:dopey:

There's so much time before this thing would start that I think we should just let the ideas fly for now, as Leo suggests. As the time gets closer, a poll would be a great idea. 👍

I just remembered, I would judge every category except one where if the competition turns out the way it's looking like it will I would wanna enter a Chevy Camaro Z28 from the used car lot.

seems like this thread has been forgotten.., oh well, better make it a hot thread, just needs 1 more post: MINE. haha

so, how about this tuner challenge?? what are the terms and conditions?? who is going to be the judge(s)?? Leonidae? do you wish to continue this tuner challenge?? i'm in.., :D

Judges already can't be competitors. And if we are doing a budget challenge with other various restrictions than I'm in. I will enter one category with a '97 Camaro Z28 and judge the rest.

Thanks man!

You heard of Capa Drift out there?

Hell yeah I have :dopey:, the guys use Holden V8 drift cars in the Toyo Drift Australia Series. I love those cars- showing the Imports what torque can do for ya.

Edit: I just bought a Camaro Z28 for 12 055 Cr. That's one of, if not the most expensive mileage model so there will be no confusion. When a clear set of rules is officially in place I will begin work. There better not be any rear wings allowed in this competition I think, road tyres, road cars= no wings.

Road cars can have rear wings. There just needs to be restrictions on downforce. I've already gauged that 3 on the front and 7 on the rear are pretty much as high as any road car can achieve, with aftermarket lips or diffusers or otherwise. You can feel the difference between even 4 and 5 easily.

CLS, contact me for input, as well. I've got a quite few ideas as far as regulations and "road-car-worthiness" is concerned, particularly when it's all I ever do when tuning. Meaning I've got some "background" regarding this.

^off-topic.., :D

whatever the rules are, i'm in.., i will put the tuning knowledge i have learned so far in GTP here to the test.., :sly:👍

Yeah that post was half off topic :sly: The other half related directly to this next competition. You can put your new tuning skills to the test, and I will put your test to the ultimate test, as I'll be judging most categories. When it comes to Tuner Challenge judging- I can be really harsh if I want to be. I'll pick on every little fault the car has and mark you down for it :mischievous: Don't worry, just do your best and I won't criticise you for trying. That's why I think I should be a judge guys- just sign me up for all the categories except the one with my Camaro in it. 👍

I'll work up a full proposal in the next day or so and we can go from there, if no one has any objections?

I cant wait :D

I've been messing with so many cars, of all ages and prices recently, so whatever the rules are, I should have a car :sly:

I'll also be able to use the judges reviews on my Supra and Autobianchi from the VTC to work out any bugs in my tunings 💡

*hopes for a S tyre 4WD division*
*eyes up the 2 6.2mile Skyline's recently purchased*
:embarrassed:

*looks from own Camaro- to your 6.2mile Skylines, then back at the Camaro. Gets in Camaro and drives off laughing to the point of eyes watering*
Sorry mate- I had to :sly:
While CLS might come up with a blueprint of rules, I don't think he should be tasked with running this one. Leo, will we be able to take you up on your offer you made earlier? Will you run this one?

Yeah thats right, drive away, before I do something I might regret! :grumpy:

Damn Camaro drivers... *storms off cursing*

I thought you offered to organise- ah well. Maybe I should do it, but I'm not great with rules and guidelines. If someone could give me the rules and categories I would run the deadlines, judge's lists, results etc.

Since i have been looking at this thread for days with no sort of layout, i thought i would throw one out there and maybe we could modify it.

So here it goes....Seems like there is quite a few people so i'm going to make 4 catagories. Im not going to think about tracks either, you guys handle that.

1st:
2000cc Limit
FF Only
Stage 3 weight reduction, Suspension, Transmission, Middle Exhaust, Chip ONLY
S-Series Tires

2nd:
3600cc Limit
FR vs FF vs AWD vs MR
Stage 2 weight reduction , Suspension, Brake adjuster, Transmission+ any flywheel, Na1 or Turbo1, Chip ONLY
S-Series Tires

3rd:
2599cc Limit
FR vs FF vs MR
Stage 1 weight reduction, Suspension, Brake adjuster, Transmission+ Clutch2 and Flywheel2, Any Exhaust, NA1 or Turbo1, Chip, Port&Polish Only
S-series Tires

4th:
6000cc Limit
FR vs AWD vs MR
Suspension, Transmission, Brake adjuster Only!
N-series Tires

Well the ball is rolling....Let me know what you guys think!

Not bad, maybe best not to limit the parts you can buy and replace that parts limit with a budget limit each time. The FF category might have S tyres, but the rest should all have N grade tyres.
