They both had that ship with the machine in where it alters a genetic structure.
 
I'd have said something turning into a chicken (the Polymorph and Lister, respectively), or that Lister was attacked by food (Shami Kebab Diablo or a Mutton Vindaloo Monster).
 
Being attacked by food was what I was looking for. Sorry, i'm running out of ideas for Questions!
