Preach on!!!. I almost never qualify at the top. But I would say that I am always there at the end of the race. I dont mean to brag either. But look at the replay of last nights race. Compare my tires to everyone elses. Seeing stuff like that gives me the confidence in my tuning. I'll admit that im not the fastest hot lapper. But these are endurance races.
Well, ummmmmm, just for you, I might just throw in a random endurance race at the end of the ITCC championship, not for points, just to give you that much more confidence. And, I admit, that I'm a pretty fast lapper, but, not quite as fast over the long runs. It's okay by me, but, I can definitely say that I ran like a second or two faster than anyone else at Indy, in qualifying. I didn't cut the corners or anything. Instead, I ran a very fast lap.
And, poles count for something. Some guys can win from pole... (No, not Sebastian Vettel, nope...
I won't brag, and say "No one else here is capable of a pole, because I take them all." I will say, though, "I've put some astonishing laps together in that Audi, and so has Seth, and so has Storm, but, he did it in the Viper.
But, I understand your point, because polarbear and I got on a really nice strategy at Fuji. I was almost sure that he was going to win, but, when he disconnected, losing his draft, it actually cost me a lot of time. Seth thought that my tire life was bad, but, in actuality, I saw you (DP guys) coming behind, and thought "I *DID* have a little slip up with Anthony at Suzuka, I'm going to clear the track, so I don't have another off. And, that strategy worked. I got a decent lead, put on mediums for the third stint, let Seth pass me, and followed him, using the draft to help me keep up. Then, with some time earned in pits, and a good set of softs on for the last stint, (on the same lap as Seth) I was good 'til the end, even though Seth was saying "Oh, my tires were risky at the end."
I'm pretty sure I had the winner's strategy there, but, I lost the margin of victory, just by losing the draft from Polar...
