The slower cars need to stay.

I read in the Kaz tweets thread that some people think they are the voice of the whole GT fans by saying things like this

"Nobody wants all that Nissan, Honda, and Japanese car cap."

I'm sorry but who gives that one person the voice of all GT fans? I know a lot of people enjoy those Nissan, Honda, and Japanese cars. If Gran Turismo did'nt have any slower cars I wouldnt be interested in buying the game any more. I do enjoy the slower cars as much as I enjoy the faster cars. The fun part of Gran Turismo for me is making a slower car faster by adding better engine parts etc to the car.

All cars should stay as it is, that is the core of Gran Turismo. All cars can be raced, just like in real life. But that doesnt mean PD should fill the premium list with cars, that should be standard instead of premiums. Many "everyday" streetcars are standard, which is sad. And yes, tuning a car everyone thought was slow is a part of the gt idea from the beginning.

It wouldn't bother me if all the slow street cars were eliminated. I rarely drive them. I play the game to test my abilities as a driver, and I have the most fun doing that while in a race car.

Well, the real challenge would be to both tune and race a regular car, because it doesnt have all fancy advantages race cars have. If PD removes streetcars and everyday cars, the game is lost even more, and the whole core game idea is lost. "slow" cars, "crappy" cars, huh, they should even bring in more regular cars, like cars from gt2. Second, define slow, many tuned up cars in gt5 are hardly slow, and they are doing lap times very similar to the supercars. Get it, gran turismo have never been a race car only game, and thats why most of the cars arent race cars.

Cape Ring Centrum, Autumn Ring Mini and Suzuka East are so much fun in fully tuned poopoo cars

this game has TOO MANY cars with 750-1k hp

Around 400 seems to be my favorite. give me a good handling car with 400 hp and im a happy guy

I think some of the lower speed cars are more of a challenge than a purpose built racer. Getting a good racing like in a car with horrible brakes and terrible handling takes skill! :p
I love the slow ones, that feeling of starting with a used heap and then building up to a garage full of Ferrari's is great.
Plus the little guys are always a fun drive. Can't get rid of them.

I'd love to be racing Prius' and Autozams online. But everyone sticks to the same Ultratuned overpowered cars BS. If everyone actually started from slower cars we would have a more competitive online community. Not like Everyone crashing at first turn and the one that didn't crash wins.

Everyone is so cocky with ultra fast cars and they keep asking for Gumbert Apolo and what not to become the new troll cars... :/

The other day I had a Fiat 500 race, online. It was awesome :)

Kids please learn to drive and overtake with slower cars. Wish I was a stable host to open a nice low powered cars race.

Well, i hardly do circuit racing, but in my lobbys i dont allow this: x1, f1, veyron, race cars. Thats it, manny people love race cars, but many also hate them...thats it.

I have to ask, why did you get so bothered by this flame bait posted on Kaz's Twitter wall?
"Slow" vehicles is GT's most ingenious portion of the game, since day one, this is widely known. ;)

Excactly. So much fun.

I love driving the stock street cars.
just change to sprots tyres, thats it 👍

X2010, Formula GT, NASCAR are sitting in my garage collecting dust.
They've only been used for the events for them.
Not for fun at all:sly:

Nothing wrong with having a good selection of slower, 'normal' cars.

Having a silly amount of slight variants of those cars is.... Debatable.

Gran Turismo, for me, has always been about the 'normal' cars. How many games are focused on their supercars? Gran Turismo has always been about buying a normal car, building up through the ranks and being able to use that car for some portion of the races.

Getting rid of the 'normal' cars just ruins the game.

I really do not know who to quote, I'm with you all the way. Love them!

This person and a lot of others think they are the voice of all GT fans by saying "Nobody wants the slower cars" I started this thread to see how many people do actually enjoy the slower cars and to show these people that a lot more people than they think like to drive the slower cars. The fast cars are fun , but I rather the slower cars.

I'll third that 👍
I'll 'forth' that :D Seriously, the thing about GT is that you can have just as much fun in a rust bucket with crap tyres on it as you would have in a race car. It's what 'defines' GT. Without them, it would be just another racing game. Keep them. These crummy cars mean more to the game than the odd Fezza or Viper. 👍

I would also like to see some second hand cars with missfiring engines or engines not firing on all cylinders (for the slower cars)

It has nothing to do with the amount of "slow" cars. There are too many Skylines, MX-5, Civics, etc. that are cluttering up the game. I love Ferrari's but if there were 30 F430's in the game and they were all very similar I would have a problem with that too.

How they're cluttering up the game?
Do you think the game runs slower with them?
Or that they reduce disk space for other features or content?

I kind of agree. There are a bit too many vairants of some cars. We only need one model of a car unless the car has slightly different mechanics. Some cars are exactly the same , but just wilth different paint jobs etc. For example . The skyline vs the Skyline Midnight Purple or Skyline Nurburgring edition. I dont mind the Skyline V - spec or V - Spec II because their mechanics are different and they drive slightly differently. But some skylines are no different to the standard car.

What you say makes sense (if there are appreciable mechanical or notable aesthetic differences then a variation deserves to be included), but many people here freak out when they see many car having the same name, regardless of their technical specifications, thinking that they're all the same or that PD could have modeled 20 different cars instead of 20 variations of one model, or that the game would run better without them.

That
is nonsense. The very fact that they're all very similar means that they're for the most part a copy&paste job. Only differences from the 'base' car are modeled and if differences are small then little time has been lost during the development phase for including them. If all it takes to create a "M.N.P. R34 Skyline GT-R" is adding a special color and a new game database entry for the R34 Skyline model having that color, then there's no reason why it shouldn't be included.

It would be better if people complained about the lack of categorization and sorting tools rather than the "excessive" amount of car variations. In the end it's the same problem we have for tracks: there are only 25 of them, but the amount of apparently insignificant variations they have make it bothersome to chose them in the track list online or in the practice mode. But you don't read people around complaining they're too many, do you?

It shouldn't be included as a separate model, because doing so is facetious.

Do you have any solution for this?

Mine would be that when the user purchases a new car, he'd select the model, then engine (where applicable) and finally trim and color. The final car name would change dynamically depending on his choices. In this way there would be just a single base "model", and special/specific trims wouldn't be treated each as separate cars.

This would also reduce the pool of available similar cars for the the Used Car Dealer. Of course, there, engines/trims/colors would be randomized for each unique car model, where possible.

Let's just throw out some of the faster cars, and keep tuning to a minimum.

I've no problem with the 'normal' cars, but there are far too many Japanese econoboxes or whatever their proper name is that develop about 60bhp, are ugly as sin and are utterly boring to drive. Put a couple in but they at least run into double figures in GT5, and even have two or three models of each.

Well then they are much less common than in the real world, good.

I'm sure some people do enjoy racing those, but I suppose we should just remove them as well.

I like the slower cars, but we don't need 10 of the exact same Miata/MX-5..
