The slower cars need to stay.

But if PD loose some of 34 Miata/Eunos/MX-5/Roadster in the game as some of them are pretty much similar, I think with something about 10 diferent Miatas we could cover all the range. And if we could have some other cars missing in that 24 slots remaining, that would be great.

Not very much in topic but there is something we can discuss. PD already upgraded GT4 models to HD. By what we can know, GT6 will be planned as:
- another hybrid model (standard + premiums) release
- a premium only release

In the first case, there is no apparent need to discard cars already modeled. So no apparent need to discard slow cars too. The will just add 200-500 new premiums or so.....

In the second case, I wonder how many GT5 standards will be converted as premiums and how will be the so discussed slow/fast cars balance. As far as they have to build a new game, PD may choose to release it with only 500 premiums.

Also if GT6 will be for PS4, there is also space to improve actual premium models, or build better ones. Don't forget GT4 and GT5 have similar garages, more than other 2 titles in the series. But I'm not inclined to expect the same for GT6. In this last case, PD can renew all cars choice. I hope they will preserve variety....

I'd be amazed if the Standards returned for another game.

I love racing slower cars, grassroots motorsport. It wouldn't be GT any more without Honda, Nissan, Toyota...used economy cars to full out race cars, and everything in between.

I'd be amazed if the Standards returned for another game.

I used to think that too.

I'd be amazed if the Standards returned for another game.

They said the company move, set them back production wise more than they anticipated ..... :nervous:

Slower cars in the game are fine, just not so many of the same car over and over with a slight difference.

GT5's standard cars were to fill a bullet point. They won't appear unless, genuinely, PD can't get to a decent number of premium models for GT6.

I don't think they'll remodel any of the existing cars, even if they are going to be on PS4 simply use the photomode quality models and scale them as required.

Toronado
They got away with it once. I have no reason to believe that anyone at PD is dumb enough to think they could get away with it twice.

Any other company, yes I would have to agree.
Nothing surprises me out of Japan at the moment.

A lot depends on which platform. PS3 there's a chance.
PS4 highly unlikely.

Anyhow it's a long way off. There was rumour of GT6 arriving around 18 months after GT5.

I will eat sprouts if that's true.

I won't mind Standard cars in GT6, but it's not as necessary given how good the racing and physics are in GT5. If you disagree, awesome sauce, but I think only the same portion of complainers will be complaining if they do. Racing in a car is sure a lot more fun than not racing in a car, no matter how you argue it.

I also agree that slow cars are an essential staple of Gran Turismo. No other game besides "that other GT" has a wide range of cars in the 200hp and below class. And there are some great gems in there, if you give them a chance. Of course if you only think racing is fun if the friction sets your hair on fire, never mind. Gran Turismo isn't really your game.

It's the ugly hybrids that are useless. The rest I'm fine with, I just don't use them as often.

It's to late to remove all these cars, you already have them on your GT5 disc. I hope Kaz isn't planning a visit to my house with some goons. If you are kaz, I have a feather duster waiting for you.

I read in the Kaz tweets thread that some people think they are the voice of the whole GT fans by saying things like this

"Nobody wants all that Nissan, Honda, and Japanese car cap."

I'm sorry but who gives that one person the voice of all GT fans? I know a lot of people enjoy those Nissan, Honda, and Japanese cars. If Gran Turismo did'nt have any faster cars I wouldnt be interested in buying the game any more. I do enjoy the slower cars as much as I enjoy the faster cars. The fun part of Gran Turismo for me is making a slower car faster by adding better engine parts etc to the car.

I read in GTP threads that some people think they are the voice of the whole GT fans saying things like this

"Nobody wants all that LMP, Supercars, and Modified car crap.

I'm sorry but who gives that one person the voice of all GT fans? I know far more people who enjoy those LMP, Supercars and Modified cars. If Gran Turismo didn't have any slower cars I wouldn't be interested in buying the game any more. I do enjoy the faster cars much more than the slow cars. The fun part of Gran Turismo for me is taking my chances with a fast beast that challenges my driving skills.

Of course, I believe that GT should cater all tastes but the amount of boring and repeated Japanese commuter crap-boxes outnumbers the one of fast and exquisite machinery. Of course, I don't want just race cars, I also want interesting stuff that isn't necessarily balistically fast, like the Mercedes 300SL we've got for instance. But I, and the majority of players, want excitement. And Japanese cars that only Japanese-ophilics know (I'm talking about the 50 versions of the Skylines that arent GTRs), are only appealing and exciting to Japnanese-ophilics. Hot hatches, sports cars, Supercars and actual race cars are the things that cater most peoples taste.

Also, don't come to me with that glorified "It's not a real racing simulator, it's a real driving simulator" crap. If it happens on a track, with opponents and clocks it's a bloody race. And if you enjoy driving at a slow speed in commuter cars, why don't you relieve yourself of such a boring existance?.

Im my opinion, the aspect that needs seeing is the Tuneablility of the cars, because everyone who wants a fast car, doesn't understand the reality of the what you have in you *cough* hands, My lifetime favourite car, i don't know why, or how it became my favourite car, but it is. the Humble Nissan 300zx, yes its premium, and standard alike, however...
you cannot adjust half the amount of tuning itinerary. This is the problem, i would love to take my hopefully first car, the Suzuki wagon R* from its lowly power, to a fairly competitive Kei Car :) Slow cars should stay, but with more tuning options.
OP. +& on thread*
& = infinity :)

There is a truly epic amount of missing the point going on here.

It wouldn't bother me if all the slow street cars were eliminated. I rarely drive them. I play the game to test my abilities as a driver, and I have the most fun doing that while in a race car.

Your abilities are always tested with any car, fast or slow, if the competition is close.

Not really true at all.
I've had many an awesome time in some very slow cars, but as I've improved, those cars have needed to be quicker, especially with a wheel now, a 60HP car just does not offer me a challenge, yes, I can improve laps a little, but within a few laps I've peaked, and then it's just same old until I get into something quicker.

So while I can and sometimes do enjoy slower, everyday cars, they can't give me thrills and chills the way holding down a 640hp ZR1 on sports hards can.

How easy it is to forget the DS3 players when you move on to a wheel aint it?

We are all guilty from time to time, forgetting were we once came from, regarding everything in life.

Twisty narrow tracks that can be made with Course Maker kart themes (Eifel and Tokyo Bay) can be fun and challenging even with low powered ~50 hp cars (and a wheel!). The main problem in GT5 is that there aren't enough built-in race tracks that are fun to drive with those cars; most of them are for high speed races.

I agree that we need more slower cars. They can be fun to drive with the right race setup, and modified they can be pretty fun as well. I'm not sure why everyone has to whine about the point of them, because the point of them is to help at the beginning of the game when you can't get all of the faster cars you want in the game.

When you race at night at pitch black (perhaps a standard car with bad headlights), a slow car can be more fun than a fast car also.
