Hey Guys (ADE),

Wondered if I could still be considered to join your league this year?

I use GTPlanet a lot but this is my first post, on this forum at least, so am noob not noob.

Don't Know if i'm too old for you guys any how, heres a little bio.

Name: Paul (Scholesy) plus ginga head!
Age:36
City: Southampton (not from there)
PSN: Sholesy1899 (why didn't i check and double check the c, what d'you mean I can't change it Sony) haven't bothered making new one.
Controller: DFGT
GT5 Progress: S.Vettel and Nurb 24Hr to do for platinum after 12 months

Wanted to find some British/English drivers for some good clean racing as i hate random rooms and bashers, and a good start time as i sometimes work sunday till 7pm.

If you don't fancy it, could you point in direction of some likeminded and mainly brit drivers to race.

Just to try and put the guilt trip on, i bought a bluetooth mic today so i can shout CAR 18 BOXING THIS LAP FOR PRIMES!

Yeah Evora would be:
No. 18
Car: Matte Black
Wheels: Lotus yellow

Maybe i could join you for practises at least?

This was the reason we created our regular organised series! Too many 'kids' in open rooms with no track sense!

Oh and I wouldn't worry about the age thing, both Ade and myself fall into your group - we did start off aiming for the older racer but 'we' have a good age range in both our series, think of it as we've weeded out the immature rather than the young ;)

There's always room in the CORE GT Series, that's if you're free on Friday nights at 20:30 of course :)

...if Sunday is your night though, you've come to the right place

Welcome Paul. Thanks for takin the time to give us a really good introduction to yourself. As you will have probably noticed, the grid is fairly full for S3, but I can give you a reserve position. There is room for you to join us next Sunday for the Lemans race. I will send you a FR later today. If your free tonight for an hour or so, I will open up a lobby for some practice in the tuned Evora. I think Omnius has filled you in on all the other details. Thanks Omnius.

You're flattering us younglings Omnius and Ade 👍

On another note I won't be there tonight, it's my Father's birthday, and I was wondering if we'd have another practice next Saturday before the race?

OK thanks for letting me know. I will be hosting 1 final practice session on the Sat night before the race, as well as a session this evening at 8.00pm.

Edit. Here is the undated times from the 3 races that I saved last night. The times in green are laps that were set last night. Times in black remain the same from previous sessions. Please note that these times have been taken from the 3 replays which I saved. If you did a faster time let me know and I will update the table.

No way will I make 20secs per lap! Mental

I didnt think that I would be able to either, but with plenty of track time the fastest I have managed has been a 4:07.895. (That was in free run before a practice race) Its just a case of learning the parts of the track where you can be brave on and keep the power down.

Everywhere where brakes are not applied

Nooo. Not everywhere. I found that there were parts through the last sector where I was braking unnecessarily, and loosing so much time. To start with I was loosing a whole heap of time through Porsche Curve. Once I had managed to increase my speed through there, I found that I was then slowing too much before New Maison Blanche. I hadnt spent a lot of time at La Sarthe before organizing this race, so it was really just a case of learning where I could be braver, to loose the time.

I took a look at my replays and I have one which has faster time for 4 drivers. I only have replays for the Racing hard races though.

Jimftr2 - 4:04:130
GTP_Cpt_D - 4:06:371
Dowlin39 - 4:06:763
OmniusALX - 4:22:845

Cheers Dowlin. The updated table now sees JIMFTR setting the pace on the RH tyre with a ridiculously quick 4:04.130. All times are from the last 2 weekends practice. They do not include the times set at the practice we had on November 24th after the Mini Madess race.

Couldn't make it tonight....

Creating highlights from our Enduro from Friday, followed by that Sunday night sort out for work tomorrow, this time I'm off to where i will be REALLY working, so its like a first day all over again (I was at at different site last month for training)

It's all go here! :indiff:

Well that was a great little practice tonight. We saw 5 turn up, with the welcome return of SOCAL, there was also DOWLIN, JAMMYREX and myself as well as a new Sunday Cupper, LONGBOWX, who showed some great pace, and clean racing. I was pleased with the results tonight, as I managed to get my personal best on both tyres. The times are tumbling, as Shin_Roh said they would. The racing tonight was really good fun, with 3 lap races. We ran 3 races on the RH, and 1 on the SS, although LONGBOWX was only present for 1 of the RH races. Times below are in blue for tonights times, green for last night, and black for the rest. The new pace setter is DOWLIN39.

We had one more race after you left Ade between myself, Longbow and Jammy. Neither me or Longbow improved our times on the Sports Soft.

But Jammy did with a 4:12:287.

Really enjoyed that tonight lads. Only my 2nd practice session at the circuit in this car so quite pleased overall. Had a great last race with Dowlin for two laps until I dropped it at the start of the 3rd,then I took longbow out as I was rejoining - sorry about that.

I managed a 4.12.287 after a scruffy end of the lap 2 on the SS tyres, but I was battling with Dowlin at the time.

Dowlin did a 4.11.760 on lap 3. Longbow posted a 4.09.479 whilst he was catching us up whilst we were battling ahead amongst ourselves.

Thanks Dowlin and Jammy for the update. The above table has been adjusted accordingly. I think that LONGBOWX is going to be one to watch for. Shame he only had the 1 race with us on the RH tyre tonight.

Wow you are on fire with your times there Dowlin! I'm just pleased to get the chance to improve a bit in that last race, wanted to post a half decent time where I didn't drop it, and it has a least put me in the ballpark of mid /mid-back pack pace so I'm happy for now. Just got to try and keep it on the black stuff and have a light-ish right foot to stop cooking those rears!

Thanks Jammy, I told you guys I was in a driving mood tonight  There is still a few tenths left to find in the Racing Hards, perhaps even a second but that might be stretching it a bit. As for the sports soft, the slipstream helped a bit with that time but not by 1.5 seconds so I'm fairly confident I can replicate similar quick times on race day if I find myself alone on the track.

I had good fun tonight, having a few good tussles with people I don't normally get to fight with in the races, especially with Ade and Jammy they were great fun 👍
And great to see another fast driver in Longbow to make this race very interesting.

We are in the run up to this weekends race. I hope everyone is looking forward to it. A valuable point has been bought up by Petros, who private messaged me with a question. This was regarding cars that are not fully run in. As we are using a fresh Evora, the power will increase as the race goes on. I know that the car I am using has exceeded this run in mileage, and some of you will also have done to, but if anyone's car is not yet fully run in, please get some miles on it this week to ensure that there is no power increase during the race. Either by driving it, or B Spec. About 200 miles would be a good target to get those engines run in.

There's a potential problem with fully run in mileages too (mine has 1,365 miles) After an oil change and the practice race laps we did on Saturday I had a drop of 13BHP. It will be interesting to note the different power levels between the cars after Sundays race. 👍

1365 miles, Blimey you must love the Evora. 👍 Thats almost the entire milage we clocked up in S1 with regular weekly practices aswell. The Lemans race works out to about 203 miles. Full engine restoration before the race will be needed, as I think that the drop over that distance will be a lot greater. Mine has covered 955 miles.

I compared the horsepower gains between an oil change and engine rebuild, and they were the same at the mileage I have. It's appetite for oil is the simulated stress of a stage 3 tuned engine it seems.:nervous:

Just did few laps on softs, 4.07 for now...
Is it allowed to use a stock suspension instead fully customisable for this event?
Not sure if I have a time to adjust it correctly and also stock feels pretty good.

And yes,are we running day/night or just day?

If you wish to drive with no set up, its up to you. We will be running Day/Night for this race.

OK racers. With just 5 days until The Sunday Cup 24 laps of Lemans, I just wanted to give you a reminder of Sundays timetable and lobby rules.

Also if LONGBOWX and SCHOLSEY can take a picture of their car and driver in photomode, and either post it on the thread, or send to me on PSN please. These pics will be used in the event of you getting a podium position in the race.
(And also on the facebook page).

Edit. Just ran a few laps with newcomer Scholsey. Nice clean driving and and showed some great pace with a 4:07.7xx in free run on the RH tyre. I also managed another PB in free run with a 4:06.8xx.

Also we are looking full for the race on Sunday now, so the slipstreaminng down Mulsanne should be mental:crazy::nervous::scared::D
