I don't understand why some menus in the game are so static, yet the GT cafe and others are moving 3d/rendered?
Really good point! If I had to guess the cafe and the loaded player car are fully rendered in memory, the scenes are scripted so it’s easier to take the loaded asset and just play it in the scene. What’s really really cool is that it also takes the livery in to the scene seamlessly.

To my previous post I think the challenge is that they don’t know what level (track needs to be rendered on the fly) the selected car is fairly easy to anticipate because you can’t change it once in a loaded environment.

Think about cars being like the player model in CoD or any other game the car is analogous for the “player”

In games like portal or half life/doom etc the loading between levels is fairly linear and predictable or GTA character switching.

GT does some smoke and mirrors with the screen transitions and fixing the player path once you chose to enter a “location/track” it does more smoke and mirrors with the dealerships in that you have to load from the car cards to the view where you get the ability to do 3D movie scape things or VR showroom etc

It’s so so so much quicker on PS5 it’s not noticeable but on PS4 there is a hard load between the transitions that feels more jarring than a 5/10s wait.

It’s technically a masterpiece on on how they do it and comparable with how GTA does map/level/geometry loading with such high geo meshes and level of detail.

But what I suggest is to improve the menus with movement/moving images by using pre-rendered clips like the ps2 did with GT3 & 4, the use of codecs like Movdec or mjpeg helped the ps2 do smooth video in the backgorund. The PS5 has more sophisticated codecs playback and it can handle alot more at 60fps videos to enhance the overall Menu design ten fold over older games.

I dunno just my two cents.

The penalty and penalty zone displays are too low on the screen.

The lap time is relatively unintrusive but the penalty indicators have solid backgrounds and do not need to be so low.

They should be in line with the lap indicator at the top of the screen and if you can't see a yellow and red bar that only appears temporarily then that is your fault.

There should also not be a red box next to your driver alias when you are in the lead of a race. Red indicates an alert, when you see it all the time on a display it defeats the purpose of making it red.

On that note, I never understood why they put those things in the middle of the screen instead of on the side. Do they really think players can't see a red penalty warning?

It’s exacerbated more in VR, you get the penalty box but no message that you will be slowed or not, you some times you get late track limit penalties but don’t know which lap you’ll serve it on, coupled with no driver lose or deltas you are blind to whether you need to get off the racing line or not or how many people are coming and where they are etc

Minor peeve. Not sure who chose the color codes for gold and bronze in the licenses, but they seemed determined to make them look as much like each other as they could..... Could the gold be a little more yellowish and the bronze be a little more brownish?

Weirdly it's been an issue for... ever. Looking back at posts in the GT3 forum and even earlier you can see people who have all golds minus one and they can't work out why - only for one of them to be bronze.

Ideally they should be different shapes as well, to account for not only being close in colour generally but also for people who are less able to perceive the colour differences.

Small peeve with the game, Is there any reason why I cant see the live delta (or whatver it called) info when viewing a Replay, like for example the distance gap between racers?? It doesnt show up and just has a ---- for the times under racer names???

One thing that has always annoyed me - the lack of the regions feeling unique. Take the Sunday Cup classic at Tsukuba for example. Here you have mostly European drivers driving European cars on a Japanese track. Shouldn't the grid be mostly Japanese drivers and cars since this race is in the Japan section? Same goes for pretty much all of the American locale events too. Why is someone from Hungary or Croatia going to travel all the way to the US for one very minor race event? If it were a major world-known event like Le Mans, Nurb 24hr or even the Indy 500 I could understand, but the game simply doesn't have many equivalents to what could be considered "world-known" events in the Gran Turismo lore other than the big three.

I feel like having these areas feel more unique and be like their own little "leagues" would improve immersion tenfold.

Real example of the issue below; I can't see the apex of the corner because it's blocked by the penalty zone indicator. Really bad UI.

It's just to trim the file size and probably makes the game run better, much like how it doesn't save your MFD data like radar either. You will have to use the PS capture option to see the live delta recording

No engine swap label/category - having 500+ cars with multiple duplicates, it's very hard to find swapped ones. We already have "wide body" label, which was added after the release.

How weight reduction/ballast works - buy WR Stage 1 and add the same amount of ballast = weight balance is different. Move ballast position to match original balance, pp is wrong... No wonder there are so many bugs in pp system.

It might be that the mass is calculated differently. Ballast is typically a concentrated mass where weight reduction will apply across the car,

stage 1 is the equivalent of stripping sound proofing and that will apply across the whole sprung chassis where as ballast is a fixed weight in a fixed point and typically a much lower center of gravity (imagine taking the roof lining off and sound proofing, that’s high up in the car, then imagine putting that same 5kg in the boot/trunk, it’s not the same. The car weighs the same but the weight has moved)

Yep, though about it as well, but seems overcomplicated. Given that ballast position can dramatically change PP when shifted by 1 point, I would say it's an imperfection of calculation system.

I would politely disagree as the mass for handling and traction is relative to its position. Having passenger ballast will be negligible

Having mass at the front of an FF car or RR car would create a different handling profile for each.

On that respect the PP system is doing its thing, it’s not great but honestly we can’t run the pace of the simulated laps it does and we aren’t as consistent nor are we as good at judging as we think we are.

The inability to sell parts (and engines) is my main annoyance at the moment. Yeah, this has always been a gripe for everyone, but here's why it's bugging me extra right now...I just got another ultra-high RPM turbo for the GT-R Safety Car from a spin and now own 5 pcs that I'll never use. They're worth $41k/ea. :irked:

If you are not in need of credits. Then you probably can do like I do, and just dispose of them. There is a way.
I delete most if not all parts that I do not or will not use like each bottle of nitrous that I win. They are immediately disposed of I will not use nitrous.

What annoys me? Eh... Battle Royale games and those games revived by Nintendo to be played in a group of 99.

99 problems and one of them is that the F-Zero game they revived is a "99 players at once" game.

This and Hospitals like Foothills Hospital at Calgary. No proper security, no Internet for Unit Patients while the workers get to use it... and let's not forget about the fact that anyone can just show up in a surgery room because there's nearly 0 security... and rats in the Cafeteria...

Outside on the Hospital's front there's a ton of No Smoking signposts. What do people do? They smoke there all the time. What do the employees do to stop that? Nothing.

I was given a bad pill called Abilify when I was there and all it did was debilitate me with extreme head pressure and bad pain all over.

If you ever go to Calgary and have a medical/health crisis, avoid Foothills Hospital at all cost. It's the definition of the word Craphole.

OMG, I'm praying you are getting better.

No worries, that was back in 2019. I moved far from there since August 2023, I'm now living in the Edmonton Region. Now I'm AISH coreved (Alberta Income for the Severely Handicapped) and I go to a Hospital which I don't know anymore the name but they are super nice, cool and they work like Superstars. Ever since I moved to St. Albert I've been near everything that me, my bro and my parents who still all live and help each other around the house have had the best service ever. EVERYTHING is in the vicinity and there's a hospital in the city.

Never been happier to leave Airdrie neither. The fast food (I admit I'm a fast food lover.) was very mediocre and had a lot of mistakes done in the orders. Barely ever happened here and the employees, when nice people talk to them about order mistakes are super friendly. Even seen a nice Grandma working at the Wendy's in St. Albert. Super sweet lady.

Not only that, Calgary is very unsafe at night. It's no Montreal though (Where every night there's multiple crimes and shootings that happen...) and the infrastructure isn't decrepit to the point of bridges collapsing on traffic below due to extreme unmaintenance and corruption.

Been in this city for almost 2 years. Never did I feel so much in security in this town. 11% lower crime rate than the Average, Strong and Teamworking Communities who treat First Nation people nicely due to being on their territories by working closely with them.

The engine swaps now.
When they were made available to buy at the car shop, I thought it was a great decision and got many hours from me, getting a 2nd unit of every engine swapable car.
But now we have so many engine swaps, engine swaps to turn gr4 into road cars (why???) and even a 2nd engine swap for same car.
Things are getting ridiculous IMO.
At this point why not make the engine a part of the tuning menu? Like suspension and gearbox per ex.
The same way you go to the menu and pick normal, semi racing or racing suspension, you get an option to pick witch engine you want.

It's lots of simple things put together that add up that have drove me away from GT7. I believe the color of trophies have been that way since GT5. The biggest obvious is the economy scale. I am not going to waste hours and hours doing the same events over and over again with hopes of a year or two getting all the $20 million cars etc. The prize wheel is just dumb. I do like taking photos and that is about it. Even then would be so much better to be able to take photos in livery preview mode with more back ground options. In addition really need slide show options. I would like to be able to listen to music and just have game on playing photo slide deck. Does not matter much any more. I have moved on to PC and AMS2. Will not purchase another GT game.
So much missed opportunities for the series. It is disappointing that it seems like the game makers think it is the greatest of all time. That all your free game time should be spent on it. Free content is nice, but who cares when most of it is not that great. I would be willing to pay for the car additions (10 or more pack) if they were better and automatically added to your garage with option to select any stock color at any time. Along with say 100 million credits. I would spend $20 for that type of download content.

Agree most players including myself do not really care about parts awards on wheel of crap as the parts will seldom ever be used.

I'd suggest that instead of the penalty time and impending penalty-zone warning being below the lap time, they place a marker at the end of the lap time to indicate a penalty has been issued, and indicate the penalty amount at the very top of the screen.

Similarly when drivers around you have penalties, add a red marker at the end of their names to indicate that they have a penalty to serve.

It’s really interesting this actual point.

I play in VR and can’t see when I am going to server my penalties, conversely there is no player list or position list available either.

So while that solution probably works for a lot of people it’s not an improvement across the the board for different player cams
