It blows my mind that you find Japanese simpler than Spanish. And yes, you can most certainly forget Spanish; I've got a couple of friends that have lost it partially or completely after living in the States for a few years.
Japanese is like like a million times simpler than Spanish, the usage and grammatical structure and some elements of it are actually quite simple, for instance; in Spanish you use "Nosotros" to say "We", while in Japanese you use "Watashi-tachi"(alternative to this could be "Ore-tachi"), notice that in Spanish you have to use a complete different word to denote the plural of "I", while in Japanese you use a simple particle added to the word to pluralize it.
Analogue situations happens to the usage of different times, verbs and other grammatical structures, people might get a little bit scared by pronunciation and the Kana/Hiragana/Kanjis, but these are just a matter of learning(besides Japanese uses 52 basic Syllables to structure its words(these are the Kana for modern usage and Hiragana which is used for special situations like practising calligraphy and other traditional uses), while Spanish uses combinations of 5 vocals and around 15-20 consonants which makes Syllable and therefore word structure a hell of a lot more complicated(not to mention the orthography difficulty that exist with letters like "H" and "X"/""SC" among others).
Kanjis learning is the most challenging thing though, and that might be the complicated bit on Japanese.
It's always been my mission in life to turn Halo/CoD fanboys into real shooter players by showing them the many wonders of PC gaming.
There is nothing like HL2, that game is better than any COD/Halo that there has ever been, I started FPS life on the PS1 with the original MoH and MoH underground to later move into Counter Strike and of course HL2, those days were pure gold.
