Also, when I said I normally hate rap, I still do, it's just MicTheMicrophoneZero that I like. I tried yesterday to listen to a few more rap songs that people keep saying are good. Didn't like a single one of them.

The songs themselves as well as the bands. There's more, of course, I just don't have the time to posting any more videos.

Actually there really isn't any time period between the 70's and 00's that has really stood out by much. They all seemed to be filled with greatness. And I think the reason modern music is typically bad compared to the older stuff is because the media seems to adore auto-tune. Auto-tune can be good if used sparingly on an already good voice, but people seem to love music where someone who can't sing has their voice drowned in auto-tune. You just have to find the good stuff.

As I said, there is some music from the 00's which I think is alright, if I ignore most of the auto-tune crap that the music industry seems to be churning out lately. Cage the Elephant is okay though.

On the subject of modern music (and ponies), you know what I'd like to see? A Kasabian PMV. I don't mind what track of theirs is used either, I'd just like it if someone made such a PMV in the near future.

I would suggest watching more than just the first couple of episodes, but if the show's not really your thing, then fair enough. At least your not a hater though.

Just saw a 8 year old girl signing Winter Wrap Up....with her dad. I saw them walk by the register I'm working at.

Looked like he was singing the words just loud enough for her to hear, and she was repeating them very loudly.

I had to fight to keep the big, stupid grin down. Not sure if he was a brony or just watched the show with his kid, but he knew the words well enough so I'm guessing the former.

As for 00's/10's music I think most of the music I listen from then is Rock (songs like the one in my Sig), Eminem and sometimes I might actually like one of the songs in the Top 40 (That is a rare occurance though)

Afternoon all!

Been having a bit of bad luck with servers in BF3 this weekend after a very enjoyable week, seems the servers with empty slots these couple of days are from people that have left because the other side is stacked something fierce.

Also got me Sonic Generations on Steam, so I don't know what I'm going to do with myself and those two games; they are seriously cutting into my pony time.

Speaking of which, let us talk pony! That was a fun episode, though not laugh-out-loud funny like the earlier ones. I like these focused episodes though, it gives the writers more time to flesh out characters and how they interact with others. Right off the bat, we can see that Rarity has a much better handle on her composure (and her crazy) than Twilight has; she reined in her temper pretty well throughout.

Also, how do you turn toast into pitch? Perhaps Sweetie Belle will get a cutie mark in absolute ruination one of these days, because that is masterful skill she displayed. Reminds me of Bender's cooking. It's either that or serendipity, but how do you even symbolize that?

Rarity's parents were perfect for her; for some reason I picture her mom having the same wardrobe as Peg Bundy... Perhaps Rarity grew up so fashion-conscious as an act of rebellion against her parents' choice of style? I can't tell if Rarity's parents really liked Sweetie's food, have no taste buds, or are just being supportive of their daughter's attempt at breakfast; I fear it's the first one.

I like that Rarity appears to have a normal relationship with them, though; she didn't give them any condescending snark or anything, which is something I was sort of expecting from her after seeing them dressed for vacation as they were.

AJ being caught between Sweetie and And Apple Bloom was great, as was her slamming the gate shut on the sheep that tried to ruin her sister-bonding moment.

As for the switcheroo, I noticed a bit right after the exchange took place, when I thought, "Huh, you'd think that mud would've fallen off by now, a cartoon character doesn't remain affected by a previous scene unless there's a reason for--

*sees the color of the eyes*

I get it!"

One last note on the episode, Rarity's rousing, over-dramatic soliloquies are the BEST. POSSIBLE. THING.


On to a different topic; that of music... I think it'd be remiss to call any decade better or worse than the ones that precede or follow it, in terms of musical quality. There's one effect a lot of people don't take into account when listing off a Best of the 60's, 70's, 80's or what have you: all those decades had metric craploads of extremely bad music (as subjective as that is). What happened was that only the noteworthy examples of music (be it good, or so-bad-it's-good) were the only ones that survived anonymity.

So, while we might be complaining now about the auto-tune shovelware we're being fed has destroyed music forever and how the 80's were the best decade ever (they kinda were ), ten years down the line, after all the auto-tuners are forgotten, we'll be singing the praises of how the 00's and the 10's produced the best music EVER.

Just look at it like this: in the 80's, people were complaining about how Disco was the downfall of civilization. In the 90's, people were complaining that the 80's use of synthesizer had destroyed music forever. In the 00's, people were complaining that the 90's were just silly punk and dumb grunge. Nowadays, we're celebrating all of those things as masterpieces of their time.
