Finished a Fluttershy plushie! I'm sad about how her left eye came out, the material warped a little bit when I was attaching it, so it came out a little bit wavy. Her other eye was perfect though.

I can see what you mean about the eye but if you hadn't pointed it out I doubt I would have payed much attention to it.

If it wasn't for the fact that it took my previous post forever to submit (and then the subsequent GTP downtime), then I would have said it looked nice earlier. I know there's that little discrepancy with the left eye, but it's nothing to be sad about really.

I don't have enough time to read all of it right now, but the first chapter doesn't seem too bad. I haven't had a chance to read any stories bearing the "Slice of Life" tag either. Spitfire's involvement is... interesting, to say the least.

It wasn't bad. I mean, I'm not really a fan of Post Apocalyptic stories (even though yours isn't really that, it was close enough that I wouldn't ordinarily read it), but it was still enjoyable to read, I suppose.


If I had to criticize, it was a bit "Mr. Exposition" with the almost-infodump in the middle; and when the fight broke out the pacing of the story seemed to jump around a bit from that point throughout the ending, making it kind of confusing to follow.[/b]

Hmm, I was worried about the info-dump, as you called it. I've come up with a HUGE backstory to this story, I'm not really sure how to sort of fit that in. Should I remove the info-dump, and then just steadily lead on to what exactly happened in the past through the chapters? I think that's a better idea, then I can pace the first chapter a bit better. Plus, now that I've taken a break from it for a flippin' month, I can see some more places I can improve.

I think the best part is that these changes aren't going to affect the mostly written second chapter! Awesome!

I'm not going to include the entire reply, because I view it as a confidential email.

Essentially, after reading this post on reddit, I decided to email her and thank her for her work. The only mention of the controversy over Derpy in my email was to say that the people sending hate mail were "a minority. Vocal, but a minority".

Well, I got a reply a few hours later. The jist of it was she was receiving some hate mail over it, but mostly positive feedback (yay!), and she thanked me for the support.

However, she did said I could share this

So people who said Derpy sounded male are technically correct, she didn't know the character was female when she was doing the voice. I guess they didn't describe Derpy to her before having her read her lines?

And to cut off any "She should have known!" replies, thats a load of bullcrap. I don't expect ANYONE who may not follow the fandom to know who Derpy is. Just because she works on the show doesn't mean she knows all the background ponies and what "we" think they're like. That's just silly.

What I think you should do is start it, but then cut it off early. Like, say he begins the story (like he gets to the part where he first mentions the princesses), but is then interrupted by the recess bell rather than getting it done and then noticing it is time for recess.

That way, it is still alluded to so you can build on it, but it doesn't get unloaded all at once.
